Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a setting and what a great welcome. We were here with a bunch of friends kids adults the lot and I have to say the weekend was awesome. A beautiful setting and we loved the chalet accommodation. then the continental breakfast was perfect too. And Simon the manager going around making sure everyone in the dining area was looked after, just brilliant. Walks, tennis, the hot pools and them a wine sitting in front of their big open fire, perfect. We will be back.

Isobel's resturant is one of the best authentic italian returants in the whole of New Zealand in our opinion. We went for my birthday dinner and loved the: lasagna, fennel sausage pizza, the spicy olive caper pasta & tiramisu! Fantastic staff, wonderful venue, cannot wait to visit again!

Wow right from the initial start it wasn’t good . You had to leave your bags in reception and walk to the restaurant to check in . They are saving money by not having staff at reception . Then we went to have a coffee outside in the sun at 2-15 no can’t do that not open till 4, do you not want business ? The room very worn and dated . The service - no room service until we rang at 5 to get new towels Disgraceful !

We booked the stay and play which includes entry to the hot pools. The room was clean but some furniture could use some updating to give it more of a modern look. There is a great carpark out the back. Breakfast was a continental buffet which is exactly what i expected and good considering. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful hotel with a lot of charm . The staff is really welcoming and helpful. And the Italian dishes are so tasteful. The Chef made a special dishes for our kids and they loved it. We loved our stay.

I purchased a grabone deal for for my husband’s birthday - a nice relaxing (child-free) weekend away. It included entry to the pool, not the hot pools … the hotel pool which was closed for winter! We were in room 344 - a garden studio room. The curtains were stained, the bathroom has a build up of scum in the grouting, filthy toilet tank cover, dust in the filter and heater system. The room is “semi detached” (locked paper thin door between rooms, not mentioned on website). Very old and rundown looking room. Breakfast the next day… disappointed again. The cooked breakfast is just a buffet so all items were cold. No chance of a semi decent coffee! Following breakfast we leave the hotel and on our return at around 3.30 no housekeeping had been done, and yes we pit out the sign. The whole hotel is dark and depressing - it is in need of a major renovation as it has so much potential. There were so many “cons” here. The only “pro” is its location. We were so disappointed with this hotel that I felt the need to review it - hopefully this helps others out. I’d seriously be wary of staying here for the price they charge and the lack of amenities. Basically, don’t waste your money staying there.

This was a fantastic experience. The room was ready early and had great amenities, plenty of parking available with beautiful grounds. We had dinner in the restaurant which also was very high-quality Italian menu superbly cooked and presented with the chef going around the tables chatting to diners. Lovely fire on with a Jaz band playing. Total experience was top notch and highly recommended.

Last Friday night 23rd the bar at the hotel was buzzing. Heaps of people and atmosphere. Great nibbles inc rare tuna and prawns, nice wine at good prices, great vibes and beautiful jazz from Graeme and Janet. Great start to the weekend, let’s repeat this.

Went this evening as heard swing band playing. Great relaxing Friday evening. Happy hour til 6pm, nibbles and food. Sat by the log fire, drinking a glass of pino and listening to live swing band Alpine Echoes playing and watching people dance. A great way to spend a Friday evening.

This hotel is right in the heart of the town and easy walking distance to the Hot Springs Spa & Pool which was the reason I stayed in this town. Room was very spacious, including bathroom. Bed comfortable and lovely garden outlook. I would recommend for sole traveler as well as couples. All good and I would stay here again without a doubt. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
