Detailed Reviews
We came and stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday weekend. Lovely clean warm rooms with sky tv. We had a spa bath in our room and some lovely mountain views, I was just hoping it was gonna snow. Bed had an electric blanket on it, and room had kettle, toaster, tea coffee and everything you would need to cook a small meal not that we did. We would stay here again ☺️

Chose this motel (2 nights) as not on main road frontage. We stayed in Room 9 which was quiet and well equipped. Comfy bed. A lot of condensation first morning; not sure why as not a cold night. Had to open all windows and door. One or two latches a bit loose.
Car park for our unit not close so we got a bit wet during downpour on second evening. Short walk to the pools. Pool towels a bonus
Unit was not serviced (it was supposed to be); staff member on duty was not sure why this was overlooked. No big deal, we just had to replenish one or two items from reception.
Went to pools three times over the two days. "Oldies" pass cost $38 each plus an extra $4 for the third trip. AA Card apparently would have been a help but we did not take. Plenty of lunch food options at the pool cafe.
Dined in the two evenings at "Spice Village" and "Monteiths"; enjoyed both.

This is a excellent motel, nice and quiet and very relaxing. A lovely queen size bed that was very comfy with electric blankets that were well used on the very cold nights. They provide towels for the pool and a bath mat as well and Chris the owner was very helpful. The studio rooms are not large but fine for a few nights.

The hosts were very helpful with an early check in request and a last minute modification to our booking which was much appreciated. The room was clean and tidy and well equipped for our stay. Communication was prompt and clear.

We booked this motel , as we needed a family unit for 4. The motel and the unit were nice and the staff was very good . The rooms were clean and well presented. Only 2 things put me off and this would have been a 5 star review. The day we arrived , it was a sweltering 33 degree Celsius and we asked for another fan , and they told us that it’s one fan per room . So somehow we managed to get through the afternoon and evening till sunset. It seems the motel is more built for winter times as the rooms were very warm and had very thick and heavy curtain ( I’m not complaining about them.) my son had real trouble to get through that day . 2nd thing , we read in the rules and policy folder that no curries can be cooked as they leave a smell. It something the mgmt must look into as presently more than 5 percent of New Zealand’s population is from the subcontinent. So should this policy be kept or changed . We abided by thier rules , but it something, we would like to keep in mind next time we go to Hanmer springs.
Apart from these 2 things. It is a good motel. We enjoyed our time in Hanmer springs.

Hanmer Springs is great for a weekend outing. it offers all kinds of trails and cool views, and the hot springs are sheer fun. Spending most of the time outdoors all you need is a nice motel for the night and that's what it is. Clean, comfortable and conveniently located for a decent price. Definitely recommended.

I was sooo so pleased we chose to stay at the Alpine Garden Motel, the place was clean and tidy, everything we needed was in our room, extra blankets, an extra heater ect ect, I honestly couldn't fault the place. On arrival and departure, the ladies were so incredibly friendly, it felt like home. The room was SO homely (Room 5!)
I never write reviews, but I just had to for this place. We WILL be back, and I have told so many people about your beautiful motel already xx THANK YOU! The fact that other reviewers commented on wonky steps and old tv is ludicrous, they need to get a life.
We did hear the neighbors baby crying throughout the night but tha'ts ok, they would of heard ours crying too lol, if you want a quiet room, request the room with no neighbors at the end of the row

Excellent location, friendly staff, wonderful amenities! Be sure to read the welcome manual to learn about all the hidden benefits, like full-service laundry and free milk. If Wi-Fi is important to you, try to get a low-numbered room near reception. If you're lucky, you'll get to meet Indi the Dog!

The motel was clean and comfortable. The TV could do with an upgrade and we noticed that the steps and deck were looking a bit wonky. I'm not sure I'd want to be there in the middle of a hot summer as a floor fan would only move hot air around. A heat pump/air conditioner would be good.
Nevertheless, I'd stay there again.

Stayed one night to visit the thermal got pools nearby. Great location, self-contained unit and friendly service. Did laundry at $7 (wash & dry) with our own powder. Thumbs up! Only thing is the door was open when we arrived and there were lots of insects inside the unit so we had to shoo them out. The standing fan is life-saving as we didn't want to open the door again.
