Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best location ever, fantastic beachfront property, friendly and quite within walking distance of restrants and bars. Got the greatest sunset picture, highly recommend. The Owwner is Jackie and she will accomodate you or your group as well being good company.

This is either a very basic place to stay or almost a 4 star place depending on what you can or want to spend There is no restaurant there but there are dining areas with refrigerators, stoves, dishes silverware, and sinks to clean up after yourself The Frenchmans is right next door if you want to be waited on

The rooms were dirty, the wifi only worked one day out of nine, the towels were mismatched and ragged and the a bar next door played loud music until late at night. Our room had a gas stove on the counter but the gas hose just hung down, not connected to anything. We had booked the most expensive room thinking we would get something special..

Had to stay their in an emergency and won't ever go their again. Dirty place with insects covering the place. The bedding was questionable I am sure they have been on the bed for years, kitchen cannot be used, it's a zoo for creepy things. The old man who owns the place is just out to make money and no thought for customers. This is on the list of places to stay in treasure beach and those companies advertising this should be held accountable for ruining people's vacation. You cannot enjoy your stay at this place it's disgusting.

Treasure Beach is an up and coming venue in Jamaica. It's less tourists driven but the prices for accommodations do not reflect this therefore don't be fooled by adverts as I was. Golden Sands is about all the venue can guarantee to get right and that's because they do not control this. They should be sued for false advertising. The sleep 6 Family Room was 3 individual rooms within a building with a small eating area upon entrance and to suggest it had a kitchen was an insult. The cupboards and the coverings for the cupboards were hanging off the wall and the fridge was possibly growing penicillin. The other rooms lacked the utilities suggested ie functioning cooker tops/fridges/kettle and toasters. Bring your own towels as these are definitely left by other visitors. So if your backpacking and have money to waste be my guest and check it out, otherwise be prepared for anything.

Book somewhere else in advance if you can. I got into town without a reservation and ended up here - the location is fabulous, but $120/night for the room I got was outrageously expensive. When I arrived there was no loo roll, and no way for me to find staff to ask for it. Also there was a mat covering floor tiles in the room, and I lifted it to uncover a creaky drain (on the first floor). The A/C remote didn't work. There was no tv. The room wasn't the cleanest. And no-one came in to clean it during my stay.

We've stayed here every winter for more than ten years. It's had its ups and downs, but you can't beat the location -- right on the water. Walk easily to everywhere else in this part of Treasure Beach, great food, friendly people, safe community. Absolutely no frills, but the real deal.

We arrived and the reservation I made for 4 nights was unknown by the owner/management not sure who he was exactly. My bf and I were given a small room with 2 single beds, a fan and bathroom with shower in the "first house". 40$/ night US, relatively cheap but had to push the beds together, people could sit literally outside the window above the head board and the worst part was realizing there was no plug ins anywhere in the room to even charge my phone! We were moved the next day to an $80/night room which was in an excellent location steps from the sea in a separate building. Shared kitchen outside one door and veranda in the front shared by 3 rooms, the sound of the sea redeemed my opinion of never staying here again. I would advise anyone staying here to confirm just before to ensure ur reserved

It's now called "Golden Sands Beach Resort", but it's neither a resort nor a guest house - just a terrible place. Had to stay here for a night because the Waikiki Guest House was booked out and we arrived late. Had to pay USD 50.- for a cheerless, bare-bone room with just a queensize bed and not much more - the most expensive stay we had on Jamaica, for the worst room. Only one towel which was more or less torn into pieces, no soap. At night it got VERY noisy because the place next door, the Frenchman's Reef, has ear-deafening dancehall music every day - until after midnight. So even earplugs did not help. When we paid the next day the guy even asked whether we would not give him a tip..... Avoid this place when you can ! And no, we're not expecting a lot - we're backpackers and used to simple accommodation.

I love Treasure Beach, and last year we looked at the beach cottage in Golden Sands. It was great and I booked it in March 2014. I checked again in December just to be sure cause we were going to stay for 14 nights. It was double booked but I decided to go anyhow just in case we could get it. We arrived on Monday 15th of Dec and talked to the owner Mr Lewis who decided to let us have the cottage after all. I went with staff up to view the accommodations and was horrified to see mouse droppings about a foot deep around the bed, drapes, and dresser. There was a dead bird in one window and the smell was terrible. No hot water and screens missing on a lot of the windows. Mr Lewis said "Go to the restaurant and come back in an hour and we will have it all cleaned up for you." Sure! We went to Eggys and had a red stripe and went back to get another apartment in a different building. It was okay but not as private., We stayed there 3 nights and finally Mr. Lewis told us the beach cottage was ready. We moved all our stuff in and went to bed that night. The music from the restaurant next door was very loud and we closed windows. The odor was overpowering. We looked around and found more mouse droppings that had not been cleaned up and that finished it for me. The next morning we took a taxi to Negril but we still had to pay full price for the four nights., Never again.
