We come back to Manoas year after year (going on 7 now) because of the beautiful, peaceful, quiet jungle setting and great staff. If you need anything, they go out of their way to provide it. We’ve stayed in the glamping tents, the villas and this time we stayed in the big house (Casa Rio) with our friends and it was awesome. We saw monkeys in the trees toucans and Scarlett macaws! The pool is lovely and hiking down to the river is fun for a cool dip! No bugs at Manoas, which is a relief. The cafe offers nice breakfast options and delicious fresh fruit as soon as you sit down. We’ve always enjoyed our meals there. The cafe serves breakfast only so stop at the BM in Uvita before heading up to Manoas to stock up on essentials. It’s a very special place and we look forward to returning next year!

We absolutely love staying at Manoas in Uvita. We come back here year after year even though there are many other options in the area. The owners, Steve and Tatum, are wonderful people and always go out of their way to make sure we have a great experience. The accommodations are terrific. We’ve stayed in the glamping tents in past years and more recently we rented one of the 2 story Villas near the pool (which is so lovely and relaxing, surrounded by rainforest, unique vegetation, sounds of nature.) We saw 2 Scarlett Macaw’s fly overhead and one year we saw Toucans in the trees. You can hear the Howler Monkeys in the distance. So cool!
We loved the hot tub at our villa at night. Especially after a 4 hour hike to Santa Lucia Waterfalls with Enrique! Check that out too! Steve will hook you up with things to see and do in the area.

The main big house is fantastic too, for a group of 8-10 people. It has an amazing kitchen and 4 bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. Laundry room too. The upstairs has a big open air deck with large dining table that seats at least 10. And a hang out area with couches and TV/music. I hope to bring a small group there one day for a wellness retreat.

Even though our Villa had a full kitchen, we ate breakfast most mornings at the cafe at Manoas, as the food and service are wonderful! Grocery store is 5 minutes away if we wanted to grab food and cook in our villa. The beautiful beaches are very close too. Maybe a 10 minute drive to Whale’s Tail (def go at low tide) and we like Playa Hermosa which is close by as well.

Steve even helped me totally surprise my husband with renewing our vows at the yoga platform. We’ll never forget it!

Definitely check this place out. The staff are very friendly, professional and helpful and always respond promptly to any questions or requests.

This location is really relaxed. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They enjoy their work and you can feel that. I found the tent very spacious and clean with a nice shower. The bed is wonderful. When we were there the restaurant was closed in the evening, but they will help you get food delivered (just make sure you have enough cash). We had a wonderful time relaxing in nature!

We stayed in one of the glamping tents at Manoas and it was an experience being immersed in the rainforest. It is about 10minutes drive along hilly, rough terrain so a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle would be recommended. The tent is quite spacious with comfortable beds and a decent shower.

A fridge is provided but there was no kettle, cups or basic crockery / cutlery provided - we asked at reception and managed to get a kettle and 2 cups. Would be good to have some of these basics provided within the tent.

After arriving we had to go back down to Uvita for dinner as the restaurant wasn't open and also get supplies for breakfast as we thought our breakfast was included. This wasn't ideal, so worth checking in advance before you arrive (or bring food with you). This would save the rough drive back to town in the dark.

The swimming pool is nice, but quite small, especially when quite a few people are in it. We enjoyed going to the river for a swim which was very refreshing and nice to be in such a beautiful relaxing setting.

We did a whale watching trip which was fantastic as we saw dolphins and a humback whale.

Can't say enough good things about The Manoas. Secluded, wildlife and tropical plants abound, meticulously maintained, amazing traditional meals or common fare prepared by a professional and friendly staff. Owner bent over backwards multiple times to ensure our every need was met to our satisfaction. Would highly recommend!

We glamped for 3 nights. The tent got hot, but the ceiling and floor fans did a good job. We loved the quiet location and most especially the variety of birds that visit and live in the gardens. The pool was a great temperature and was appreciated after the heat in Uvita. We did not have dinner here, but heard it was very good. I wanted to return for a couple of nights a week later, to enjoy the birds again, but they were fully booked. I can understand why!

We stayed here January 2020 for 4 nights and it was absolutely perfect! We stayed in Tent #4 which is a great location - close to the restaurant and yoga tent, very private. Before arriving we had contacted Steve to schedule activities for us. Each day the activity was so special - waterfall tour, kayak tour and river rafting. While staying at the property Miguel took care of all our needs. We had a massage that was greatly needed after hiking up Chirripo the day before arriving. Breakfast was fabulous and we also wound up eating dinner there all 4 nights since the food was so good. There is a swimming pool and river. Waking up to the sound of birds and monkeys was so awesome! You're in the middle of the jungle but all luxuries are at your fingertips. Highly recommend!

We just spent a week at Manoas as a family. We were there with our two boys, 8 and 11. We stayed in the large house and it was beyond beautiful. The accommodations were were clean, up to date, and beautiful. We had everything we could need. They even provided us with coffee, and milk in the refrigerator so we didn't have to buy coffee while we were there. The house really felt like a home away from home. No matter where you stay in Manoas the grounds are beautiful. The pool was the perfect place to cool off. We also spent lots of time down at the river. Miguel, the manager, was amazing! He provided us with a delicious breakfast each morning, and also helped my husband to organize a surprise for me for our wedding anniversary. We can't wait to return! Oh, and we can't forget Amber, the Manoas dog! My boys said they want to come back just so they can see Amber again.

I was blown away by my stay at Manoas. Steve and the rest of the staff are so kind, and the retreat space is beautiful. I stayed in the glamping tent with my sister and I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious it is. We enjoyed sleeping in the jungle- feeling as though we were in the jungle with the protection of being in a tent! I loved spotting wildlife, and the owner took the time to explain the plants and animals that reside at Manoas. The food at the restaurant was phenomenal, and was catered to dietary needs. I can't wait to return, and would highly recommend you checking it out for yourself!

We (my sister and friend) stayed 2 nights at this magnificent location. We slept in the “tents” which give you the opportunity to be surrounded by the beautiful nature and hear the animals and at the same time enjoy the luxury of a hot shower, comfy beds, good breakfast and nice swimming pool. The staff as well as the owner Steve were all very helpful and friendly. Any question was immediately answered by whatsapp when needed. Would definitely recommend this place! (4x4 is highly recommended to get up there, but I’d recommend renting a 4x4 anyways to travel around CR)

Hi! Manoas is located about 10 minutes drive up the mountain from the center of Uvita where you will find the bus terminal. You can purchase tickets directly at the bus terminal. It is recommended to take a 4x4 taxi from the bus stop to Manoas (taxis can be found just outside the bus station) - which costs about $10. You can walk, but it will take over 1 hour and there are steep sections of the road that can make it difficult to walk (with luggage as well). Taxis can be easily arranged for you while you are here, which can take you to the Marino Ballena National Park (Whale's Tail) and other locations in Uvita/Bahia for about $10 each way. If you have any additional questions, please let us know. Pura Vida~ Steve

We rented a car and it was easy getting around. I know there are buses you can use. I am not sure if the schedule and stops. If you contact Steve, at Manoas, he can answer all your questions. By the way, the whale tail is awesome!!

I think you would be fine, Amber is a very polite dog. I didn't see any evidence that she had been inside our villa at any point. She didn't hang out around the dining / breakfast area either. Unless it's just an over the top, violent allergy, I would go for it if i was you. The positives would absolutely crush a sneeze or sniffle!
