This quaint little jewel is at the top of a steep hill-paved and accessible but a little intimidating your first time up. The pictures of the view are spot on. There were monkeys and toucans right off our balcony. The room was secluded and private, each one with it's own entry and pathway so it feels very private. I would definitely stay there again! The restaurant also had the best food we ate in CR!

Small hotel with private, rustic cabins overlooking the ocean and coastline near Uvita. We had a king ocean view room. One entire wall opens to the balcony, even the shower has an ocean view! We had a beautiful view of the sunset and slept to the sound of waves crashing on the beach. Woke to the sound of birds and monkeys in the rainforest. Our kids had a queen room with a window toward the beach and a balcony with a great view of the rainforest. They were delighted to see monkeys from their balcony. No a/c in the rooms, but a ceiling fan and floor fan keep it fairly cool. The owner, Francesca, was very nice and made us great breakfasts to start our day. I highly recommend making reservations for dinner at her Italian restaurant, Gusto. The food is wonderful!

I accidentally stumbled on this quaint little place while doing some research on places to stay while in Costa Rica .. I had contacted the owners months before who I might add were more than helpful and accommodating. When we arrived we got a room the exceeded our expectations .. the food was beyond amazing and had that real authentic Italian feel . On our first night I watched the owners in amazement dealing with a full house and short staffed and a few rude customers they came through with shining personalities and kindness .. they totally won my heart . I say if you ever get a chance to come to Costa Rica make this stop a priority not only will you enjoy the beautiful view but the food and hospitality is amazing here too . Thank you Francesca and Luca for letting us stay ... we will be back 🥰

After visiting 85 countries and staying at hundreds of accommodations, it's my first encounter with disrespectful hosts! Luca & Francesca (owners)were very defensive when given feedback and aggressively gesticulated and shouted their responses. I planned to stay for 4 nights in a mountain room facing the jungle BUT it had no glass on the window only a broken mosquito screen allowing for critters to come into the room. The on-duty manager offered the ocean view room although there too was no glass on the windows either. Luca & Francesca were informed about the lack of information pertaining to glass-less windows and replied via Whatsapp: "No Problem find something else, get out as soon as you can we don't CHARGE anything even if you use actually a room, and that's it." Although they clearly stated to "get out" and "we don't charge even if you use the room", I went to pay for my use of the 1 night. They changed their minds charging me half the total cost of the booking. Aggressively demanded an explanation but interrupted incessantly not allowing me to talk. They further explained that they were unable to sleep all night because of what was brought to their attention. They said that the screen could be stapled easily. They continued to confer with each other in Italian and concluded that they would charge me because they needed to pay all the staff and that they changed their minds about the written message. 5 days after my departure they charged me again an additional night. They were contacted about the additional charge but denied it. The location overall was not as described. It may suit people who are comfortable with not having glass on the windows and that needed to be stated. The owners attempted to belittle me in their numerous attacks by asking me if this was my 1st time in Costa Rica and that most places don't have glass on the windows! Additionally stating that all this is clearly described on the site. I beg to differ, it is not stated.

Second time we stayed at Ranchos Remo. The cabines are situated overviewing the rainforest and ocean which gives great opportunity for birdwatching in the early morning from your own balcony. It's situated about 3,5 hours from the airport so an excellent first of second stay after your flight for a few nights. The food is truly amazing. I can say I've had the best pizza here outside of Italy. This place is now a standard stopover on any trip to Costa Rica.

We had no idea what an AMAZING experience we were in for, when we found this GEM of a place online! We booked it on a Monday, and arrived the next day. AMAZING.
The staff was OVER-THE-TOP phenomenal. They went out of their way to make sure our every need was met. And they did it kindly, and with such grace. Their persoanl touches blew us away.
Our room was OPEN AIR to the most INCREDIBLE VIEW we've ever experienced in all our travels. The tucans and other beautiful birds were a wonderful sight. Extraordinary setting; unique and one-of-a-kind spot on the planet. Make plans to STAY HERE.

I loved our retreated and private ecolodge that had an intimate and family-run feel to it! If you don't have your own 4x4 car, you will require a 4x4 taxi to get you up and down the mountain to this hotel. The Italian restaurant is phenomenal and each meal is made to order by the talented chef. The views from the restaurant are stunning especially at sunset! Francesca and Luca were very helpful and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great place to stay and eat! You have a superb look at the Uvita "whale fin", and many you animals (monkeys, birds) are visible and audible. A sunset at the restaurant while having a drink is priceless (prices at the restaurant are totally acceptable by the way). We had a bungalow with a jungle view, no a/c but the temperature at night was fine, and the sounds around you are amazing. They are trying to add a few chique decoration elements here and there which is fun :) the place will only get better with time! If they now would have a pool to cool off in, there'd be no reason to ever go down from that mountain. Oh, and the owner is awesome too. You can see him stare and appreciate the view just as much as we did - which is fantastic to see!

BREATHTAKING ocean views and a beautiful sunrise at Ranchos Remo located close to Uvita and the Whales Tail beaches. Juan Carlos, Miguel and family were wonderful hosts and gave us superior friendly service. When we arrived we were greeted very warmly by Miguel and were upgraded to an ocean view Cabina which was unexpected. My husband and I stayed 4 nights and would highly recommend this secluded resort to both families and couples looking for a romantic getaway. Juan Carlos is the main chef and served us the best ribs we have ever eaten!! We also had complimentary breakfast every morning with fresh fruit. Miguel recommended a 6 hour horseback riding tour to the Nauyaca Waterfalls which was awesome, only $70 per person!!

Hi, sorry for late answering, tripadvisor didn't show me the message!
Coming from san Jose and Jaco you arrive to dominical and go on towards Uvita, 13 km at south of dominical you will find Playa Hermosa and there our first road signal, after 1 km more you turn left (there's another road signal) and go up for 500 mt more or less, then go to the left and you will be here!
If you can send me your phone number i can give you the map position.
Thank you very much and see you soon
Total 800meters
500mts go up to the mountain and 300mts flat.
Ranchos Remo is on the mountain with full ocean view.

I don't recall seeing a safe in my room..........BUT the owners are really nice and I'm sure would be more than happy to secure your belongings. There might have been a small safe in the closet that I did not see as I have done that before! Make sure to spend the extra money to get a room that has the "open air" view of the ocean.........totally worth it!
There are more places to choose from in the Uvita area.
