Simply put, the Kura is a breathtakingly beautiful property and was an amazing hotel for us as honeymooners. It is extremely secluded, private, safe, and romantic. Images really don't do justice to the incredible 180-degree view of the coast centered on the town of Uvita and the Whale Tail.
Our room was Master Suite #7. It was extremely spacious (I think 1500+ sf?), with a shower bigger than some bedrooms, and a super private patio with a pool, hammock, and lounge area. They service the room twice a day and even mop the floors both times so the room is always very clean. In the mornings, we woke up to the sounds of wildlife and got to watch toucans hanging out in the trees. We felt so relaxed and refreshed every day here.
As for the hotel amenities, it is a small hotel so there is 1 restaurant / main pool area, but it is exquisite. The food portions are modest, but are very high quality with locally sourced ingredients, making us feel energized after every meal. The beef carpaccio, grilled chicken, spinach & ricotta ravioli, and steak were memorable. The cocktails were very unique and delicious. I also think the banana bread that comes with breakfast is the best I've ever had. There is also a free daily activity which we took advantage of (the rum tasting with a sunset view - incredible!) and they provide a daily complimentary round trip shuttle service into town. We had them drop us off at the national park by the Whale Tail which we explored and then did a walk all through Uvita which was a lot of fun.
The staff knew us by name and were extremely friendly, conversational, and attentive. Some that we remember by name were our driver Janan, concierge Emanuel, and Noel, Willian, and Alonso who worked at the restaurant & bar. We really appreciated how much they made us feel welcome and cared for!
My suggestion for improvement would be to notify guests ahead of time if construction will be taking place. There were 2 pools being built below the main pool and the noise was bothersome at times. Fortunately we were able to hang out by our room's pool instead, but not all guests had that luxury.

The Kura experience was nothing but extraordinary. Between making the reservation in January 2002 and our stay in March, we stayed in contact with the staff by email as we planned our trip. They provided just the right amount of information in a timely manner. Efficient and not overbearing. From the moment we entered the property, we were greeted by a warm, friendly staff who were able to anticipate our needs and knew our names and peccadilloes . We had all of meals on the property and never tired of the food selection. The breakfast juices were special. We had reserved a few activities (such as a jungle hike) on our own, but this was entirely unnecessary. All activities could be arranged beforehand by the Kura staff! When we learned that our guide for our tour that we arranged on our own had become ill and could not meet with us, the Kura staff jumped to action and were able to secure another guide. The activities that were arranged by the Kura staff were all fantastic! All of our travel off of the property was incredibly well-choreographed with comfortable rides arranged and a bottle of cold water at our side. An incredible respite in a time of spiking virus.

My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary in Uvita and loved everything about our 5 nights at Kura! It’s a unique property that is made so special with its incredible views from every room. We splurged on the master suite, which has its own large private infinity pool that can be heated, and an oversized balcony overlooking the mountains down to the whale tale at Marino Ballena National Park. Every inch of the Kura property is beautiful and maximizes the view. The grounds are well maintained and clean, the rooms are very private & quiet, and the food and drinks are great.
The staff were wonderful. It’s easy to communicate with the concierge via an iPad. Whether it’s scheduling tours, a spa treatment, or ordering food to be delivered to the room, they were kind, quick to respond, and happy to help us with the logistics of our stay as much or as little as we needed. We enjoyed Sergio, Luis, Mike, Jairo, Daniel, and Adrian this week and how well they took care of us. We hope to be back!

At the agreed location we were able to park the rental car and were taken by hotel transfer car, via the arduous route to the hotel. We were greeted very friendly. You can communicate via Whatsapp and get an answer in a minute. The room with modern design. The restaurant staff also very friendly and the food good but rather high priced. The view is fabulously beautiful. It is wonderfully quiet - a nice, child-free hotel. It was all in tune.

Stayed 11 nights at Kura Fantastic experience in one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Easily compares with the major luxury brands Think Four seasons, Peninsula or Mandarin Oriental. Where Kura may exceed some of the above is the quality of the staff. Every member of staff we met was engaging, professional and friendly. Suites are great, food, particularly breakfast were excellent and the view’s awesome. You can also book any of the tours offered with complete confidence, the guides and drivers used all live up to Kura’s very high standards. Night hikes offer excellent value for money and a bit of excitement Many thanks to Kura’s management who have pulled together a world class team in a world class location. See you again one day.

We have just returned from the most amazing 6 nights at this incredible property for our honeymoon. Emanuel was so kind to upgrade us to a master suite which completely took our breath away, safe to say we have never seen a more beautiful suite! We arrived at midnight and the staff were so kind to arrange food waiting for us as we’d had a long day travelling.
The property itself is absolutely stunning, and the views completely took our breath away. It’s so tranquil and we had the most amazing bird-watching just sitting on the terrace.
The food & drinks were all delicious, all the ingredients were so fresh and well put together. The staff truly made our visit so enjoyable, they were so personable & really went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and we well looked after from the moment we arrived. The hotel helped book a number of activities for us (whale watching & a visit to Corcovado) and also put on complimentary daily activities such as cocktail making and rum tasting which was such a lovely touch (a huge thanks to Alonso who hade this great fun!!).
I have no doubt we will be back and a huge thank you to Kura and all the amazing staff who made our trip so incredible!

Kura is amazing. It is one of these places where one would like to stay forever! After a nerve rekking 15 minutes on bumpy roads which seem to lead to nowhere a discreet black gate pumps up and you are in paradise. In the middel of the jungle this minimalistic zen building appears with a true infinity pool and a restaurant which depending on the whether can be closed or open at 3 sides. This is the ultimate inside out! But what is a beautiful place without good service? The team at Kura is extremely friendly, competent and helpful. The massages were the best we have had for a very long time, the place is immaculately clean even though it is located in this challenging tropical climate, lovely food, we could not get enough of the carpaccio and when we asked for a drive to the park, they gave us towels and water without us needing to ask for them. The only negative I can think of was the weather. So we could not fully the pool. But what do you expect in the raining season? So a big thank you to everyone at Kura and especially to Daniel and Jairo. Guys you made us feel so at ease, leaving became hard!

Thank you for your "heavenly" review. Thanks for all the praise for the location, architecture, service and food. And yes, these past weeks have been rainier than usual in the rain forest. But now, the sun is out and dry season has started. December, January, February, March and April are the best months for sun lovers to visit Kura. We hope you come back soon.

From the warm welcome on arrival to the departure, which was coordinated and supported by the hotel on its own initiative, everything went really well together. Coordination and support on departure? For anyone wondering why a certain amount of coordination and possibly support is required on departure, this hotel can only be reached via an unpaved, steep path and only with a four-wheel drive vehicle. It therefore makes perfect sense to ask and make sure that the transfer can start from the hotel. In our case, we were taken to the nearest paved road in the hotel's own four-wheel drive vehicle, from where the actual transfer began. But now to the hotel itself: everyone was super nice, friendly and helpful. Great pool with a magnificent view down the mountain to the sea. The same view from the spaciously furnished room, which lacked nothing. The selection and quality of the food offered at mealtimes absolutely convinced us. This hotel is an absolute dream and definitely worth recommending.

My husband and I spent our a 6-night honeymoon at Kura and we couldn't have been more relaxed, happier, or pleased!
The hotel was kind enough to arrange a car from San Jose; the driver was kind, polite, and efficient and although it was about a 3 & 1/2 hour drive, it flew by. He even stopped at Crocodile Bridge!
Once we arrived at the resort, we couldn't stop saying "wow!" The view is amazing, and photos will never do it justice. We were greeted with refreshing drinks and given a quick rundown of the resort. Since this was our honeymoon, we splurged for the nicest room and were not disappointed. The most jaw dropping moment was walking through our door and seeing the view from our room! The room was beautiful and minimalistic. The huge shower with a view of the rainforest was amazing. The hotel gives you an iPad to communicate with them for any needs, but also with the food menu, excursions details, and other information you might need.
The staff was wonderful! So welcoming, kind, and nothing you asked seemed to be a bother. Big bonus: laundry was complementary! This was a fantastic bonus as we did a few excursions that left us with wet, smelly clothes. It was great to have them taken care of to avoid stinking up our luggage for the trip home.
Food! So delicious each day. My husband LOVED the sushi and a special lobster dinner they had one night. Even though I am a vegetarian, there was plenty for me to enjoy and they were able to accommodate on a few dishes that weren't already meat-free. The fruit and fruit juices they serve at breakfast were so tasty! Cocktails delicious and a great mix of classics and unique options.
Weather: We went during rainy season and the forecast looked daunting; rain and thunderstorms 100% everyday? Don't believe the forecast. While we did get rain most nights, the mornings and afternoons were typically quite clear. The temperature was around 75 most days and not too hot. And remember- this is the rainforest. If there wasn't rain, it wouldn't be so amazingly beautiful!
I feel like I could keep going with all the things I loved about the resort, so I'll wind it down now. You will not regret staying here! Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to really wind down and relax and really enjoy the view. I wish I could go back already!
