We stayed one night at this property in advance of a dive/snorkel trip to Cano island the following morning. We arrived in the dark which was our mistake - we didn't have the chance to appreciate the amazing views until the following morning. I wish we had a reason to stay here longer. We rented three rooms and the views from each were stunning. The one thing to know is the roads are a bit tricky to access the property, especially for one of our cars which didn't have 4 wheel drive. This would have been much easier to navigate had we arrived during daylight, so I recommend arriving during daylight hours if possible. The owner/host was super nice and accommodating and very easy to work with. The rooms were equipped with quaint and thoughtful details - fresh water in the fridge, coffee fixings in the morning, etc. Definitely recommend this slice of paradise!

Don't get scared off from this wonderful place! There's been a change in ownership, evident as there are small upgrades evident around the property. The hotel website is not accessible by the current owners, but reservations made at on-line booking pages are fine. I got a considerably better price by contacting the hotel directly. Obviously not a luxury hotel, but the views make up for it. Individual "villas" with hammock, table/chairs outside, great AC/fans, a fridge, parking right next to the villa, plus free stays for pets made this perfect for us. The pool is wonderful. Be aware that if you're traveling with more than a couple (there was an extra bed), walls don't go all the way to the ceiling and lights/noise in one part of the villa are evident throughout. The adjacent restaurant, though pricey, was tasty and handy, with a beautiful view.

A wonderful place to go. Incredible location. The vue and the swimming pool are breathtaking. Staff is very friendly and caring, a very nice couple Do not hesitate, go there. For sure you won't regret it 😉

The views are excellent. And that is about all that is good. The management is apparently new and they don't understand the basics of customer service. I was told I have "bad character" for being upset that I had made a two-night reservation that they couldn't honor. I had a booking confirmation from reserva@ballena-paraiso.com but apparently the new management (since Dec 2024) rents from the owners and they are in some legal battle that causes the owners to not share all bookings with the new administrators. Administrator Salome Gonzalez literally told me she was going to court the next day. I never got an apology. Instead, I received an email yesterday thanking me for staying at the hotel! Now, the views... you could stop by and take beautiful pictures between 5:30 and 6pm. But booking a room is another story... Let their legal battles be resolved before you rely on this place.

I love this place so much! I would definitely recommend getting your own vehicle because it is a trek up the hill to your casita….though it was a nice workout for the week. ;) The pool was divine. The sunset and sunrises were so special from this place and the view. We never got tired of the restaurant on property. Every single person who worked here was the sweetest. Also Nicholas and his wife who helped with everything…. went above and beyond to help us really with everything. Really grateful for them and this lovely experience. Oh also you can see so many beautiful animals on the property :)

Magnifique vue sur la queue de baleine ! Excellent accueil de Vanessa et Nicolas qui sont aux petits soins et nous ont donné plein de conseils. Ils ont gardé nos bagages durant plusieurs jours pour notre séjour au Corcovado. Vanessa a même enclenché la piscine plus tôt que d'habitude pour que je puisse me baigner avant notre départ. Nous avons été accueillis en français, ce qui était très appréciable ! 4x4 indispensable. Le restaurant juste en-dessous et atteignable à pied est très chouette, avec la même vue magnifique. Nous garderons un merveilleux souvenir de ce trop court séjour d'une nuit.

2 nuits sur la place. Rien à redire , des bungalows et une piscine en hauteur avec certainement une des plus belles vues sur la baie. Un restaurant juste à côté qui permet de prendre le petit dej ou son repas. Le gérant saura vous conseiller pour les visites .

A part la belle vue, tout est médiocre dans cet établissement : accueil, propreté (en fait saleté repoussante), 4 chaises longues à la piscine (tout à fait insuffisant vu le nombre de chambres). Privilégier les établissements tenus par des costariciens : tellement plus propres !!!
