I spent three weeks here. It was a perfect meeting place for business. Restaurant on site, run by the sister. 1 block from laundry and a mini super. 3 blocks from grocery store, bank, restaurants and more. I didn't have a car, so this was perfect. Taxi's on the corner when needed and I am sure they would have arranged a ride for me. In fact, the owner gave me a free ride to a perfect sunset restaurant!
Beds were memory foam and so were the pillows, new fridge, new coffee pot, new table with drawers and a shelf - large. Clean, clean, clean. Great picnic table outside on the covered porch and a hammock. There is also a jungle walk free. It felt like I was in the city and the jungle all at once. I had the opportunity to leave but chose to stay another week. Very accommodating, safe and exceptional people. Would recommend to all and I would stay again without hesitation.

Great location, airconditioning, mini fridge, nice warm shower, good restaurant, free use of bikes. So yes, the appartment was great value for money.
But lets take a moment to talk about Victor (the owner). This guy is a legend! He helped us with everything. Renting a car, transportation to Sierpe, booking a Corcovado tour, you name it. He even gave us his number and asked how the rest of our trip was going.
This was our first apartment on a 3 week trip to Costa Rica, but Victor showed us instantly what 'pura vida' means ;)

Due to an unexpected problem we needed a one night stay. The unit
Was large, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our brief stay very much. Away from the road up in the jungle ...very quiet and peaceful. Would happily stay again.

This is the BEST hotel and restaurant in Town. The food is amazing. Service was exceptional. They were so accommodating to our family. I would highly recommend this family owned hotel and restaurant. I’ve traveled the world, the food here was better than even anywhere in Italy. Every detail was excellent. I give this place a 5 gold stars!

Many of the hotels and b&b's in Costa Rica is owned by expats, so it was really nice to stay with a local family. Its very good value - the housing is basic but you will have eveything you need. The 2 Victors (sr & jr) and Cindy the chef (with husband) all contributeted so our stay was both relaxing and full of adventures.

We will allways remember our kayakktour with Victor and all the monkeys, birds and our first envounter with a Boa constructor. Victor knows a lot about the nature and environement. Cindys filled patacones is really, really good, the breakfast is nice and it sort of feels like eating at a friends or relatives house.

If you, as we did, stay in one of the cabins, make sure to bring a flashlight.

Much recomended!

Definitely close to Uvita which is great. A big plus is having their own reserve. There is good air conditioning and hot water.
I’m just finding out there are different choices on rooms standards.
I’m reading that since 1910 they have mentioned about getting furniture such as seats and a place to put luggage. 2018 didn’t see any of it, or glasses to brush my teeth.
As I saw cockroaches on the bathroom I had to improvise on a way to rinse my toothbrush.
A lady from the restaurant was my welcome, but unfortunately not welcoming at all. Later a gentleman showed me to my room and was very kind.
I stayed for four nights, but only one of them my bed was made.
I would not say it shouldn’t be recommended. I just think it’s a place that could give much more and definitely should have a better customer service.
No food before 11 am

We booked a room through booking.com late at night because our SUV vehicle could not make it up to the hotel we previously had booked. I chose this place for the price and the good reviews. When I got to the room I saw a cockroach in the bathroom and as I was going closer another one came out at me. I left the room and advised the reception before we had even paid. They told us that it's normal, the cockroaches come out at night and slide under the doors but for double the price they could give us a suite on a second floor that had no cockroaches. Since it was very late and we had no other choice we agreed to the price. I've been traveling for a month in Costa Rica and been to many different types of hotel and this is the first time I've seen cockroaches in my room or that I'm being told that it's a normal thing.

Such helpful and friendly family-were given a warm welcome and allowed to check in early.

This was great for us as we had a bit of a rest before heading out to the beach.

The owner showed us the area on a local map and pointed out a very nice beach we would not have to pay to use.

Lots of birds here-even had a pair of Toucans eating a papaya outside our room!

Appreciated the air conditioner. Bring your own shampoo. Would stay here again

Had to grab a last minute room in Uvita due to the highway being blocked and found Los Laureles. As with most small towns in Costa Rica the dirt road getting here is bumpy but once here it is well worth it!

The rooms were very clean and well taken care of. It is very obvious that the owners (family run business) really care about their business, customers and go out of their way to accommodate you!

Also their restaurant (separate trip advisor page) is OUTSTANDING! Their menu changes often based on what fresh ingredients are available.

Five stars for:
Rooms clean and neat!
Great service!
Great Value!
Wonderful Food!

The easiest and simplest solution is to take Tracopa bus from the San Jose bus terminal. It goes to Uvita (and also one goes daily from Uvita to San Jose). Its cheap, but a long ride. You can also pool with one of the many shuttle services which go down the highway in Puntarenas, to Uvita. If you land in San Jose during the day, its highly likely that there will be some shuttle services heading to the area, but you can also just do a web search for one and book one ahead of time. This should cost about $40 - $75 USD. There is also the option of searching for a private shuttle service for yourself and companions, this can cost like $120 and up. Lastly, there will be loads of taxis at the airport, and you can bargain with them. They might want to charge you up to $300 USD, but that is just because they assume youre a naive tourist. If you pool with a few other people, you can talk a taxi down to like $30-40 a person (to go to Uvita... less if youre going somewhere closer like Jaco). Once you get to Uvita, there is a supermarket across from the main bus station. There are usually several taxis hanging out there, especially during tourist season. They will know how to drive to Cabinas los Laureles, though, its within walking distance of the bus stop. Again, some taxis might take advantage of your lack of knowledge and charge you $10 USD, so negotiate before getting in the car (its like a $2 USD drive from the supermarket).
