Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Villas Maria Luisa is a gem. The staff and owner are extremely friendly and we spent multiple nights playing pool & singing karaoke with them. There’s fresh fruit for you to eat, a lovely pool for you to swim in, and a cozy bed to come back to after surfing all evening. The rooms are equipped with a kitchen, which is a huge bonus. I could easily spend a month there. One word— PARADISE 🏝

We checked in for 9 nights. The area is huge in the middle of green forest. The rooms are basic but all you need. The rooms are clean, beds good, shower hot. The kitchen is basic but very serviceable. Pool is fine. The staff very attentive. We had wifi problems so they changed rooms to get perfect wifi. Would definitely recommend. Why pay more.

Room Tip: Bring your own food to save some money. Nothing wrong with a basic kitchen.

We were really excited to stay at this hotel. We used our reward points to book it. We thought we would treat ourselves to a really nice place. When we checked in they didnt have our reservation. After several minutes of reception trying to figure it out they stuck us in the grossest room we've ever stayed in. The room smelled terrible and was not clean at all. There was dirty mops and brooms in the corner. The propane tank that fed the stove was inside the room and the gas supply from the tank was a rubber hose connected with a hose clamp. Also the hot water head is electric in the shower. 4000w/50amp. and the electrical wires were exposed inside the shower. We checked out early and the manager assured us that we could call hotels.com and they would agree to a refund. When hotels.com tried to call the property the manager first pretended not to speak English even though we had spoken to him that afternoon and then when he was contacted by their spanish department he denied what he agreed to. It was worth it to lose the money not to have to stay at that place for another night. There are so many amazing bed and breakfasts, hotels, and hostels on the Pacific side of costa Rica. Dont stay here

My stay didn't start well. The slovenly, bored staff acted like it was all too much effort from the time I arrived and couldnt 'find' my booking (worse still they subsequently told booking.com that I hadnt turned up at all). The room was clean(ish) and had working, if noisy aircon, but was full of biting insects. The view from the room was of garbage and wood offcuts, there was no wifi and no breakfast - I was told to go elsewhere to eat, buy water etc.

the place smells of garbage it's hard to sleep, it's very old, everything is falling apart. if the price was lower it would be okay, but we stayed in a nice hotel down the street for the same price the night after.
