The place exceeded our expectations. First, we were welcomed by very friendly staff and this remained true throughout our stay there. Second, the air-conditioned room is really spacious with more space than you'd need during a vacation, and the bed is super comfortable. There's also a safe inside the room to keep your valuables, and door locking system is very secure. Third, the beach experience is glorious - quiet beach where you can enjoy morning/evening walks, and the jetty is probably the best place in the entire establishment (complete with an infinity pool overlooking the ocean). The jetty also has enough seats and beds so you can spend your entire day there. The food is also nice and this experience is topped up by the extra friendly staff who all seem happy to work there (this left a really good impression on us). I would go back to Blue Moon for sure!

At Blue Moon Resort we had the best holiday of our life. The place is beautiful at the top European standards. We had a romantic dinner at the beach with seafood menu at excellent price. Very nice waiters prepared for us a table on the beach with a frame of flowers on the top and many candles on the beach with the shape of a heart.
We also had a delicious floating breakfast at the main pool that is right on the beach.
We enjoyed the best cocktails at the pool at the top of the jetty in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
Location is perfect for a quite and romantic holiday and you can easily reach the closest villages in only ten minutes taxi.
Staff is very professional and kind, they satisfied all our needs.
Food is delicious and at reasonable price.
Highly recommended! We will come back soon!

We had an amazing experience with breath-taking views of the sunrise and sea from Blue Moon Resort not only from the jetty but from the restaurant and pool too.

We will definitely be back because of the way we were assisted by the super friendly staff.
Paul, Fodia, Diana, Lucas, Yussuf and Ahmad, (and the lady at the front desk - I cant remember her name) went above and beyond to assist us with our sunburn needs, travel requests and silly food requirements.
The beds in our room felt somewhat hard at first, but we slept amazing every night. The AC and fans cooled the room down almost immediately and this added to our relaxation benefits on our time away.

The food was great as they offer a variety of food options. We had chosen the full board option on our stay which was way more than what we needed.

We had read previous comments about the long sand road to get to the resort which we didn't think was too bad however travelling to and from our excursions took forever as the resort is on the opposite side of the island. Our room was pretty dark and I think some lighter curtains or wall paint will help lighten up the mood in the rooms and give it a more luxurious feel. But overall the rooms are a 7/10.

Definitely a recommendation!

We stayed 10 nights at Blue Moon resort & although staff were very friendly this hotel has many issues. Service at times is lacking with repetitive menu . Several times we found items not available. We experienced problems with air conditioning breaking twice internet poor in certain hotel areas & cleanliness of room not to high standard.shower leaking causing water flowing to bedroom. Toilet seat broken. There were no coffee making facilities in room as described on website. There is no way this hotel warrants 4 star !

The hotel location is extremely off the road, The road joining the resort to the hotel is extremely bad.Based on that I expected the hotel to be more considerate of the transportation they offer. I had to be charged 35usd for a oneway to a nearby 8mins drive restaurant I had planned to visit. On returning I opted for my own transport I paid 5usd... What a difference.
Off that the ambience is good, friendly staff and a nice pool.

After booking a room with private pool at Blue Moon Resort a few months in advance (it was one of the only places which offered this in Zanzibar), we made the hour and a half drive from Stonetown. I had confirmed before leaving with them that we would be arriving. After a rough journey, we arrived to find that they could only offer us that room for 2 nights and then we would have to move to a normal room for the rest of the stay, but they would give us a free massage to apologise!!! Bear in mind that I had made it clear in advance that privacy was of the utmost importance, one of us is recovering from surgery and was not comfortable being in public wearing swimwear. The manager finally came out reluctantly and spoke to her busines partner, but there was absolutely NO chance they were going to give us the booked room for the stay. We made the point that we were already there, which gave them 3 days to find a solution for the other people, but it was a NO. My thinking is that they had booked the room for family or friends of the owners and put them ahead of paying and booked guests. This can be the only explanation. We left immediately and went to stay somewhere else, we asked for a full refund. Thank you owner of Blue Moon Resort for ruining our trip of a lifetime. Do not trust them!

Blue Moon resort is located in Jambiani, Zanzibar. It is not in the city center, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a quite and peaceful place (reachable from Jambiani plaza in 15 min by car, 1.30h from Airport).
The structure is very big, and subdivided in different areas: main area with restaurants and pool, beach area, rooms and villas.
We booked the luxury villa, and they gave us the Pool 2 villa: the room is great and spacious, it has a main area with bed and table and a big bathroom with shower and sinks. The best part is the pool, that is big enough and it has also sunbeds: despite some things I read online, it didn’t have any bad small and it was very clean!
The staff cleans 1/2 times a day the room and the pool, so the overall hygiene is great.
I was very impressed by the staff, cause they are very cheerful, always happy and pleased to teach you some words from their language, making you understand how they live and always ready to answer your questions about their culture and life.
I had the opportunity to spend my birthday at blue moon and it was the best day: I had a floating breakfast (40$ for 2 people) and the food was great, plus they brought it to the room by singing local songs.
The food there was amazing, considering we had other experiences in Zanzibar and the food was total disaster: they have fresh fish, tasty pasta/sushi/burgers and also desserts! I would recommend to take the half board, cause there is a vast breakfast and for the dinner is comfortable, considering that you have to take a 15 min taxi to find the first restaurant (25$ min spend for the taxi).
They also offer some facilities, like for example kayak, massage, quad, jet ski and floating breakfast at the infinity pool (in case you don’t have pool in the room), and if you’re lucky like we were you can also spot some wild monkeys during breakfast.
I would recommend not to drink water unless it’s sealed in the bottle.
My overall stay was great, and I would recommend to go to Blue moon ♥️

The Hotel is nice and beautiful, the service is great, the beach with turquoise and hot water, but at low tide there are plenty of corals, it is better to take sneakers for the water. On the other hand, the pool is very good and has a beautiful view.
We were two days and we liked it

Idyllic island spot , it’s beautifully done with each of rooms having a small seating area outside as well. Pools are gorgeous and so is the jetty with open patios to sit on both sides of it. Manager was very helpful in arranging a private car for us to go for a day trip. However, It’s about 35 min from airport and the immediate stretch of road leading to the resort is bumpy.

he beach is good but not the best for swimming as it is full of seaweeds plantation and rocks. If you wish to swim on the beach you need to walk for about half kilometer to pass the seaweeds. Alternately, you can take their buggy and drive to Paje beach which is amazing.

hello, we stayed in the pool villa, unfortunately the railings are not that yet fully enclose as the plants are not that yet bushy, We stayed there last June for one week and its really nice. I suggest if you can ask them to book Pool Villa 2. The resort is not crowded so in terms of privacy you guys dont need to worry to much as its only gonna be the house keeping and the hotel guards that would be passing by on the grounds.
