Stayed for 14 nights Half Board at the Blue Horizon Hotel, Rhodes and was most impressed with the interior, food and Staff at this delightful hotel. When we arrived it was dark and the front exterior of hotel was poorly lit and our first impressions were not very favourably. However, when entering the Reception area, we noted that it was bright, clean and a very efficient young Receptionist greeted us. After leaving our luggage in our Room 258, we went for an Evening Meal in the Hotel Restaurant and found a good selection of hot and cold meals available. Throughout our stay the selection of hot and cold food available at Breakfast and Evening Meals was exceptional -catering for all tastes. All areas both inside and outside of the hotel were very clean and I must say the two ladies, Alketa and Adriana reponsible for cleaning our Room 258, carried out their duties exceedingly well and they are a credit to the Blue Horizon. The only small irritating problems I found with this Hotel was the Bathrooms would require modernisation and the sunbeds at the Pool were slightly too low for the more Senior Citizens. All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending the Blue Horizon to friends and family.

This hotel truly was absolutely lovely. From the start to the end we were well-informed and all of the staff treated us respectfully. At the beginning, the gentleman on the reception desk informed us of the complimentary beach towels, where the restaurant and bars were and how to get to our room. All was clear. The day after this was repeated by a lady at the reception desk to ensure we understood fully. The staff in the restaurant were all very lovely and ensured we had a table to sit on every night. They made sure tables were cleaned promptly and drinks were delivered on time. The mini market lady was very lovely on the occasions we spoke to her and the bar staff were very polite and wished us well on our last day. The two cleaning ladies we had were very lovely and always said hello when we went past. They left our room superb. The food was themed most nights - there was a couple of nights which we weren’t 100% on but we got to indulge in Chinese/Japanese, Italian, Mexican and of course Greek. All the food was delicious. Breakfast was mainly the same each morning with waffles/pancakes alternating. There was not much show cooking but we didn’t mind that as we were more interested in getting the food. There was a lot of German hotel guests but there wasn’t any favouritism amongst staff with them. It was clear many of them had attended previously and thus, knew the staff better. It was nice to see this was a hotel you can come back to again and again. The hotel is extremely clean and well presented. We were very happy with staying there and despite paying for the sea view only room, we did get a good view of the hills to the rear of the hotel also so an amazing view all round. We didn’t go into the pool area much but it was beautiful from what we did see. Most of our time was spent on excursions or on the beach. Two Sun loungers and a parasol are 8€ and completely worth it. It is a pebble beach, however, and the sand can only be found further on in the water. We recommend getting some beach shoes from one of the local supermarkets. Great location in terms of restaurants and shops nearby. Lots of places to hire cars/mopeds from also including one in the hotel itself. Restaurant wise we highly recommend Pezouli (short walk from hotel, Greek restaurant) and Royal The Yard of Taste (about 5-10 minutes walk away). There’s also a lovely shop called Animal Spirits near the latter restaurant which sells the most beautiful hand crafted candle holders that smell indulgent. There are planes which fly over regularly due to the flight path however we did not find these annoying in the slightest, we instead made a game of guessing which airline was coming over. These are also few and far between during the late hours so they shouldn’t disturb your sleep much. Similarly, the entertainment music was not too loud and we only really noticed it during the weekend which is to be expected. Taxi’s to Rhodes City were only 18.50€ (we booked this one from the hotel directly) there and 15€ back. It was a pleasant journey and both taxi drivers were friendly. Overall we felt very looked after and respected. This was a fantastic choice for a hotel and close by to local amenities. I would highly recommend others to this hotel.

the hotel is in a beautiful location, but you will be woken up every morning by the barking of probably a guard dog. the barking goes on for hours, and no one does anything about it. this happens every day and it gets really annoying.

Thank you for your review. As we explain you, the barking dog was in a private property. We try to find the owner and with great surprise we find out that the owner had an car accident and the dog remain locked with a chain. We called the animal shelter and together with police they managed to find a solution. Your report to our reception save the dogs life. We like to thank you for your effort and to apologize on behalf the dogs owner. Even though that you score with low point, we are happy because we save a life.

After a bad experience in another hotel, we were transferred to the Blue Horizon. From the moment we walked in we were treated so well. The staff were so friendly and worked really hard to make our stay. Lovely experience. The room was lovely and comfortable and kept very clean. The facilities were great and surroundings well cared for. Food and restaurant were top quality. We will be coming back. The staff should be commended.

Great Hotel! We've had a lovely week staying here on a half board basis. Breakfast was tasty & varied although sausages not to our taste! Lunch or Dinner was delicious with so much choice & always freshly cooked meat on the grill. The lamb chops were our favourite. We don't normally eat pudding but we couldn't resist ! Our waiter Vasilius ( William) was charming, welcoming, friendly & delivered a first class service. We were on the fourth floor in a superior room (423). It has recently been refurbished to a high standard with comfortable beds & a fantastic view of the beach, pool& stage which meant we could watch the entertainment from our balcony. The entertainment was varied. Local dancers were great, as were the live band & the fire show. The other nights not so good. Started quite late around 10pm. We spent a few evenings watching the football at a local bar or eating at one of the local restaurants. Kostas Village was great with live music & delicious food. We visited Rhodes old town which was beautiful & Kremasti to see the stunning church. The hotel is in a great location for sightseeing & not too far from the airport. Planes go over regularly but we quite enjoyed watching ! The pool area & gardens are very attractive & close to the pebbly beach. The hotel snack bar has great views of the sea & serves delicious gyros & lots of other snacks at reasonable prices. Overall we've had a lovely holiday & would return although we like to visit different Greek islands & there are so many to see! Thanks to all the staff at Hotel Blue Horizon!

My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at the Blue Horizon. We booked all inclusive, and were not disappointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular the waiters in the main restaurant where the head waiter, who said his name was James Bond (!), had us laughing every day. There was an excellent selection of food , my favourite being breakfast, which set me up for the day. Lunch and dinner provided a decent enough variety too, so there were always plenty of appealing choices. The surfers snack bar was useful for in-between snacks and ice cream which were on a serve-yourself basis (plus drinks from the bar) for all-inclusive guests. That was very handy on our last day, because it was available to us right up to departure. Sunbeds around the pool were free , but those around the snack bar and on the pebble beach were charged at 4 Euro per day , but that was the only additional thing we had to pay for during our stay. All areas were spotless and regularly swept. Our bedroom was kept immaculate by the lovely friendly cleaning staff. Evening entertainment was good, in particular the rock trio who appeared on Wednesdays,The swimming pool was a bit small for serious swimmer, but was perfect for the daily aquafit sessions. And anyhow, the sea was very close by. There was a strong current, and the beach is large pebbles, no sand , so be prepared!. Daily trips to Rhodes town were bookable for 8 Euro, which was convenient, because it's too far to walk. There were several small shops and restaurants close to the hotel, so you could walk locally. All in all highly recommended.

Okay, so we were a little bit weary about staying here purely because of the bad review that mentioned being marinated. We are a lesbian couple, my partner is dark skinned but we risked it anyway. From the moment we arrived which was about 10.30pm we felt like staff, mainly reception and bar staff was a little off, almost felt awquard to have to approach them, a burden in a way. The restaurant staff was very short and abrupt with you. The Entertainment staff and the lovely young girl in the shop was amazing, especially the young girl in the shop. She was laughing, wanting to learn about uk money as we did their euros. She laughed at me trying to say thank you in Greek but then aced the thank you in Welsh, she wasn't shy in having a laugh and it was nice her trying to learn as we were , not to mention she was genuinely trying to recommend the best places to visit. The lift (we were placed on 4th floor) so called well ventilated according to the sign is very much the opposite, it's extremely stuffy in there, there is only two (you can use the stairs). Don't call for the second lift until the first one has started going up otherwise you'll keep calling the first one back down and the second one isn't gonna come. The room was clean and tidy, we got the front of the hotel towards the road which wasn't to bad as it was quiet. It was two single beds pushed together, cleaners came everyday if requested by placing the sign on the door. We did forget one day and didn't put the sign out until late afternoon, we figured it was to late but fair play to the cleaners they did actually make up the room. Our biggest issue with the hotel was the shower! I know its hot in Greece but even so, you expect to have a warm / hot shower, especially when the air-con is on and the room is the same temp as your home back at home. Its not always nice having to get in a cold shower. It spat water out, hardly any power to the point where the water was going down the pipe instead of out the head ( i did twist it to make sure it was on properly but nothing helped) and the shower has a wall power button, it turned itself off constantly between 30 seconds or 3 minutes that shower was not staying on. The sink has the same problem which also had a big crack in it but I suppose that isn't a fix it priority. The entertainment was every night baring Sunday's, usually 9.30-10.30. It was Okay but nothing to rave over. Some greek band one night, bingo the next (expensive), Kareoki, some bloke that stood on broken glass. The pool - Beds are usually taken up by towels by 8am. If you come out by 10am you're lucky to find two beds together even on the grass. There are more beds stacked up in the side but im not sure where you could put them as its already full. Considering how big the hotel is, the pool isn't really that big when you have eveyone in it. The majority of the time you're avoiding being hit by balls as that's what most of the people are throwing around. Pool entertainment like the yoga, volley ball gets repetitive everyday it's the same thing, it gets very loud with the music not to mention the music that's put on is about 10 songs played on replete throughout the day. You get used to the pattern of entertainment and the time though, lunch time is the quietest!. We were only half board. Breakfast & Dinner ( drinks not included with your meal) about 10 Euro for a drink each with dinner. Food was fairly decent, plenty to choose from. The beach, it's pretty but its not ever calm and is mainly for wind suffers. Beds on the beach I think we're 4 euro each if I remember correctly. (Take swimming shoes) it's not sand like stated on the website. Anyway we had no issues with skin colour, a few funny looks being a lesbian couple but you get that no matter where you go. The hotel had many Germans, who were all pretty rude. Not many English people when was there we met two English family's who agreed on some awquard staff, everything being repetitive and Germans being rude. Before leaving our holiday friend who was all inclusive decided to get us a leaving drink. One of the ar staff was okay with this but another was very much the opposite and demanded she paid for the drinks. Her argument was that she already paid for the drinks in advance, hence the all inclusive. She could have as many as she wanted but she wasn't aloud to give two drinks to anyone else. Ialyssos itself was fairly quiet, handful of shops and a handful of restaurants (mainly sports bars). Anyway for the price we paid, it wasn't all that and I certainly can't see why it's a 4 star hotel. I'd say a 3 but not a 4. It was okay but I person won't be returning, I like welcoming comfort on my holiday and I feel like we didn't get that. We waited by the reception to discuss the shower but nobody attended to us despite the fact that there was 2 staff members and we were stood there waiting for at least 10 minutes.

We (10 adults) arrived at this hotel from a mistake at Direct Booking and Karpaten because they didn't reserve us anything in Rhodos so we were sent at where we weren't even booked in Blue Horizon. The manager was very nice to help us with our situation by letting us stay for 8 hours until we got the confirmation to be booked in. While staying at Blue Horizion the staff was very kind and professional , very good restaurant and food, lively location and atmosphere with an amazing animation team and a very polite cleaning staff that were doing their job with love and very well done

First time to Rhodes, and this hotel didn't dissapoint. Check in was quick and friendly, the complementary filled fridge, wine and fruit platter was a nice touch. Room was spotless, I later saw cleaners cleaning rooms, they even used a paintbrush in the balcony door runners, rooms were attended to every day, with fresh toiletries and refills on tea/coffee. We were all inclusive. The breakfast was pretty much the same every day, but plenty to choose from. Lunch varied a little, but always fresh pizza on offer. Dinner was themed each night, plenty of choice. All the meals were fresh, cooked in the hotel kitchen, and plentiful. Unlike other AI hotels I've been to the dining room was perfectly big enough, never a wait for a table, and the staff around to make sure food was restocked, tables cleared and drinks served. The snacks avaliable, not the greatest but tbh, there was plenty at mealtimes not to need it, icecream was always good though. Drinks was a decent selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic. You could always charge to your room if you fancied an upgrade. The pool was a good size, and clean, again poolside cleaned every morning. Only negative to the hotel was a couple.of surly staff, the main guy in the restaurant in the evening, and a lady at the beach bar, they were a bit snappy, miserable , and impatient. Looking to return.

We initially booked a garden bungalow but on arrival found it way too small for 2 adults + 2 teenagers. It's one room with twin beds and 2 sofas, not very far apart. We asked to change rooms and despite the additional cost we agreed to pay as we couldn't have managed two weeks in a bungalow for 4 of us. We upgraded to a family suite which provided the separate bedrooms and much more space. Overall it's a lovely hotel, very well maintained and spotless. Beds were made daily along with daily fresh towels - couldn't fault the maid service. Food is normal for a 4* and varied. If I was to criticise it would be around breakfast. It's certainly focused on European tastes rather than British, and was quite repetitive.. there were beans but they weren't the best. But maybe we have fussy teenagers! Evening entertainment was what you would expect and we've seen similar acts and shows in Spain. Swimming pools activities (water polo and water aerobics) got very repetitive after a few days. If you're half board as others have mentioned you have have to pay for evening drinks which averaged at 10 euro per night for us. We did find staff on reception and down at the beach cafe bar to be rather abrupt at times. It felt like we were burdening them by ordering and paying for food and drinks. The hotel is very orientated to Germans, in August sun beds around the pool were mostly reserved by 8am so if you are after a good spot make sure you get up early. We hired a car and parked this on the street as it was 10 euro a day to park in the hotel car park! Would I return? Probably not due to some of the issues I raised but we had a good 2 weeks break here and overall it was a lovely holiday.
