Stayed for 10 nights. Staff were expecting me on arrival but told me that there would be a room change after the second night. My new room was ready after breakfast and the staff took care of moving my luggage. Rooms are serviced every other day and that includes change of towels and top sheet. Air condition is efficient - too efficient and needed to turn it off at night as made the room feel chilly. Wifi is perhaps the best I have had in many hotels. Easy to connect and no issues with connectivity. Breakfast is the only issue as repetitive with no variety. Hotel surrounded by shops and restaurants so plenty of choice. Gorilla Place recommended.

Hotel location is great, few minutes walk to the city beach. Staff is very polite, they clean rooms every day, and change towels daily. Food in hotel restaurant is fine, and prices are average for the island. Only bad thing is noise from drunk guests in late night hours. They were slaming the door, screaming and playing music loud almost every night. And the sound isolation is quite bad. So, I would not recommend this hotel to older people, or others who are intolerante to such noise.

I stayed at the carina with my dad for 7 days, his first time abroad. We had gone to see as much history as we possibly could see in a week. The staff were more than happy to help with directions to where ever we wanted to go or for any information we asked about. I have absolutely nothing negative to say. This was a great base for what we wanted with lovely staff (every single one of them) I would recommend for anyone wanting somewhere central in a very clean hotel on a budget.

Really enjoyed our stay at this charming little hotel perfectly located for all amenities. Our room was comfortable and very clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar was very well stocked with a variety of lovely meals cooked and presented to a very high standard. Our stay was made very special by the kindness and welcoming nature of the lovely barman. It was hard leaving the hotel and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. The only downside is that the breakfast gets very repetitive as the same is served each day. But still plenty to choose from and you didn’t go hungry.

I would just like to say a very big thank you, to all the staff Meni, Costa, and of course Olga..brilliant service with a smile and a joke with it. Not only them, many more of the staff the cleaners, night staff the place is the best very clean cannot do enough to help. My only regret is that I didn't stay here before. But I will from now on..love it.

You have made my holiday a special one you should be proud of the staff, the hotel, the bar (great for people watching). Smack bang in the middle of the city 2 mins walk to beaches on both sides.

Afaristo and Yammas.

At their web site they mention that all rooms are air conditioned, but they forget to mention that it's under payment.
Internet never works in the rooms or at any other place excepting the lobby, where it does seldom.
What about rooms? Blankets with blood spots, old towels, mosquito blood at the walls, walls as paper allowing to hear your neighbours intimities and 1 square metre bath room, being the base of the shower and the ones of the bath room and room at the same level, so that "floods" are common. Besides that, the shower cannot be adjusted at its support, so it beats your head frequently. And, finally, there is not even a hole from where smell can exit; imagine after using the w.c...
For the end, breakfast: croissants from the Jurassic and ants walking up and down the juice machine.
For all this, I'd recommend anybody to choose any other hotel.

Two days ago my six years old son had a serious injury in his brain. He went to the main toilets of this hotel and fell down because they had just cleant the floor. It was sleepery. One hour later he vomited and then we went to hospital. A brain scanner was practiced, he vomited several more times, couln't stand up and didn't recognize his parents at some moments. This continued for 3 hours and, fortunately, he recovered the normal situation. He had to be 24 hours under observation and is O.K. now. I paid the hospital invoice and when we went back to the hotel I had a meeting with the owner claiming for the hospital invoice and some more money for taxis, food and mainly for the horrible psichological moments suferred by his parents. He didn't want to know anything. And now, it's up to you to choose this "kind" hotel.

OK, so its not the Ritz. But then given the price that's hardly surprising. We visit the Mandilara area of Rhodes every year, and have stayed in many of the hotels. The Carina has 'pros' over some of the others (the bathroom and balcony were bigger than the Ambassador) and 'cons' (needs a refurb, bathroom fittings especially).

OK - so the negatives:
- Don't bother with breakfast, most are terrible in the Mandilara hotels, this was the worst so far
- Super-tiny safety deposit boxes
- Rooms are 'tired' and need a refurb. A bit of peeling paint, old bathroom fittings which give the appearance of being dirty (but aren't, the cleaners do a good job with what they have to work with!)
- Poor views from the balcony, BUT - this is the case with many of the hotels in the area due to the layout so not the Carina's fault (although they could clear away the debris dropped from balconies)
- The air con drains into a water bottle on the balcony which overflows quickly and you have to empty yourself (though the cleaners may have done it you can't wait for them or the balcony gets flooded)
- Very little storage in a small room, especially if you are there 2 weeks. Only place to put cases is on top of wardrobe and you will need to store some clothes in your cases.
- No hairdryer, take your own!
- Previous comments about paper-thin walls are spot on. You really can hear everything in the rooms around, above and below you.

The positives:
- Great location
- Great price
- Air con is free (we have had a daily charge in some places)
- Staff are lovely, the lady on reception and the guys at the bar will do anything to help you
- Nice bar area
- Rooms are clean, done every day except Sunday incl clean towels
- Fridge in room

In summary, I wouldn't say 'don't go there' if you are used to the general standard of 2/3 star Greek hotels you will find its OK. If this is your first time and you are used to 4star or above or other destinations, spend more and stay at the Marie, Ibiscus, Cactus etc etc.
