Travellers' Choice
We do not offer luxury, but we do offer simplicity and the chance to get back to nature. Our beach huts are stylish yet basic and constructed from local materials using local methods. Each faces its own private beach and is equipped with western facilities. The island has no mains power so there are no flat screen television or mini bars, but we do stock cold drinks in the restaurant and our food is freshly delivered every day. We use solar panels to provide 24 hour lighting and we have a diesel generator that is on for several hours each day providing 200-240 volts to charge up your gadgets. We pump water from an underground lens and harvest rain water whenever possible. We aim to minimise our impact on the island land, cutting back trees and growth only where essential and leaving habitats intact. Free WIFI is available at our WIFI hotspot and local mobile phone networks cover the island. With no mains electricity, no cars or bikes and very little light pollution, Tranquillity offers you the chance to see, feel and listen to nature as nature intended. Campsite and private beach camping available as well.

We stayed for three nights and completed our Open Water Certificate with Mick and Vicky. They are incredible! Such wonderful patient teachers. We can't say enough about them both. The diving is stunning. We loved our beachside bungalow and will be back.

Gorgeous reef and dive sites, a short scenic boat ride from the mainland island of Efate. Go for a day trip or spend the night (or a few) in an island-style bungalow right on the beach. Very relaxing! Go for the meal plan so you won't have to worry about a thing. Take a stroll to Fred's beach or the caves. And watch out for dolphins on your way back to the mainland!

Basic facilities but that is all you need when you are in such idyllic surroundings! All fares are on the water with decent space between fares so you have an absolutely stunning view in the morning and enough privacy. It is definitely paradise with lots to do for everyone in the family. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage boys and did plenty of walking, scubadiving, snorkeling, relaxing by the beach, kayaking, joining the coongoola day trip, visiting the turtle sanctuary, chatting with other guests... There is wifi but you don't need it! There is electricity at set times in the day but you don't need it! There are plenty of activities on offer which THE BEST resort managers Jenni and Hunter will tell you all about! Robson will take you to and from the island with a dolphin show if you're lucky! Tomas and Douglas are the A team in the kitchen who make sure you don't go hungry! And let's not forget the guide dogs Boots and Socks as they will walk anywhere with you to make sure you're on the right track! Definitely go there if you're planning a Vanuatu trip!

Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids (10 & 11) stayed at tranquillity for 4 nights in December 2019. For the first day, we were there by ourselves and then another family came to stay. We were greeted warmly by the resort managers, Jenny and Hunter, and shown to our fare. It was clear very quickly that our kids were safe here with the staff and we let them run free. We were worried about how compact our fare was but the only time we were in there was to sleep and as we were exhausted from swimming all day, it didn’t matter. We weren’t hot and sweaty at night as I imagined it to be without a fan or air-conditioning. The water is 20 meters from our cabin and it’s warm, flat and crystal clear. We got to see plenty of coral, heaps of different species of fish, moray eel, pipe fish, turtle, sea snake, dugong and a reef tip shark (my crazy husband went way out in the deep and decided to tell me this after we had left.). The kids and hubby were snorkelling as soon as they woke up till brekky time then back in until lunch. In the afternoons we explored the island. The best snorkelling area was at coral gardens. The snorkelling gear that we were lent require an update as many are broken, deteriorated and scratched. The dogs, Boots and Socks, played with the kids all day and were the most placid souls. The staff were fantastic! Rex and Thomas in the kitchen cooked lovely meals and looked after us well. Steve took us to the local village where they welcomed us with open arms and we got to walk through and see their life style without any form of race difference felt. It’s a shame there’s not a direct business relationship between the village and the resort as I’m sure that would be beneficial for both. Beautiful people. The island has a turtle nursery where they raise endangered Hawksbill hatchlings until 1 year old and release them into the ocean so they have a better chance of survival. We sponsored 2 turtles to be released and the program SPREP will notify us of any future sightings. Unfortunately the local people don’t seem to have an understanding of what rubbish is doing to our oceans. With every swim and with every high tide we picked up rubbish and our visit to different villages showed us that it was an issue right across Vanuatu. On the first night we arrived, Jenny told us there was a turtle nest that was just starting to hatch and we had the pleasure of witnessing these creatures come out of the sand and head into the water. All up there was approximately 120 new babies. What a privilege we’ll never forget. Jenny and Hunter are amazing hosts. They both are constantly picking up rubbish that washes in from the sea. At meal times they would regale us with tales of their diving adventures, tell us the best places to go on the island and what they had achieved while working at the resort. The kids weren’t any trouble for them, in fact they embraced them and took them under their wings. The resort is truly blessed to have them work there. There are no ipads, no TV, no toys and we didn’t need them. We were exhausted from playing with nature. There are also no mozzies, midges or sea lice. Don’t forget reef shoes. Nights are quiet, you’re left alone, there’s no people noise, no lights, just the waves gently lapping the sand. This is a place to disconnect and relax. We all absolutely loved this place and it was the perfect start of our family holiday in Vanuatu. Could not recommend it highly enough.

Hello Jenise, Thank you for your glowing review and taking the time to really explain the resort and the lovely things that families can do here. We are so glad you enjoyed the snorkeling (noted on the equipment, thank you!) and got to see all of those awesome creates and corals you mentioned. We were absolutely blown away by your children, they are so polite, friendly and warm and were so good at meals times. We loved to watch them playing with Simon (Thomas's grandson) It was heart warming to see them all in the shallows teaching Simon to swim. I shall pass on your kind words and thanks to the team. Thank you again for the fabulous review and for releasing turtles, the sanctuary is extremely grateful your kind donations. Take care, and see you around this wonderful world soon, The Tranquility Team!

I found this resort through a last-minute search on the PADI website after a semester spent abroad. I knew I would be traveling solo, and was working with a student budget. so I was looking for a quiet place that would allow plenty of opportunities to dive and snorkel without being unnecessarily outfitted. Tranquility was the perfect spot, and I could not have enjoyed my 8 night stay more. Jenni and Hunter are, besides being talented and professional dive instructors, fun and interesting people who made every dive, meal, and boat ride memorable. If you are looking for easy access to quiet beaches and reefs, lots of turtles, and crystal clear warm water, Tranquility is the perfect place.
