I stayed here for one night in April 2022. The motel is well located on the main street opposite Countdown, and just a few minutes' walk from the main shops and restaurants. The room was large and clean, and the wifi worked very well. The bathroom and kitchen had the usual amenities. There is on-site parking. I'll stay here again if revisiting Otorohanga.
We often stay at the palm court when we have family gatherings in Otorohanga. Every time I notice the cleanliness, the nice little touches and the comfortable rooms. We always have great service too, all for a very reasonable price. Easy walking distance to the Main Street and a lot of the town.
It's clean and reasonably well-appointed. The man on the front desk did not check our vaccine passes and he took off his mask while saying he was hot from working outside. The position is great with the supermarket across the road. The compendium in the room has the rhetoric you sometimes see in smaller owner-operated accommodation e.g. threatening you with a fine for infringements like not leaving the cooking facilities clean enough. There is also reference to their preference for burning carbon-producing natural gas rather than using clean hydro-generated electricity. I'm not sure why? Gas is cheaper but it's dirtier too - I'd rather they use electricity and keep the world just a little bit greener.
This motel has the most comfy beds ever. It is spotless and super clean. We had stayed in a few motels on our way around the North Island and this was definitely one of the best. we would not hesitate to return.
My wife and I overnighted here in a queen studio the night before visiting Waitomo and on a road trip around the North Island. The location although on a main road wasn't overly noisy, was clean and tidy and fair value. The local shops provided some good options for eating even on a Monday night and the owner was helpful in recommending some options. Would happily stay here again if the opportunity arose.
