Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for one night before visiting the Waitomo Glow Worm Cave. Very nice, clean motel with lovely owners. Our room was very large and spacious. We had a microwave and a refrigerator that was not stocked, so there was plenty of room for food/drinks. They also provided plates, cups, silverware, toaster and kettle. There is a grocery store across the street where you can pick-up breakfast items, which is much cheaper than going to a restaurant. The beds were good as well as the shower and air conditioner. There is no safe in the room and no storage except for a small closet. There is no lift so request a first floor room unless you don’t mind carrying your luggage up the stairs. Parking is free and the Wi-Fi was very good. Make sure you check their site for check-in times. There was some road noise so if you are a light sleeper you might need ear plugs.

We stayed here two nights early March. It is walking distance to train station, shops, restaurants and the Otorohanga Kiwi House. We had room 1 which has a nice seating area in the back. The room was very comfortable and clean. It has a kitchenette area with fridge, dishes and cutlery but no sink except for the bathroom. However that is no problem as guests are urged to leave the dirty dishes in the plastic tub provided and they are replaced with clean dishes daily. The larger rooms have full kitchenettes.
Some reviews say it’s noisy because the motel is beside the highway, but our room was on the far side and was very quiet.
We visited the Waitomo Caves, about 25 minute drive away. We didn’t have a car so Jeff arranged a local driver for us.
Jeff and Jenny are very gracious hosts.

The room was clean and tidy. It was also spacious and had a heat pump, which was amazing on a hot night. The staff member I dealt with was very friendly and explained all the local food options. There is plenty of free parking onsite.

The shower had very hot water dripping around the control tap. The motel is by the main road and the room shook when large trucks went by. The room door was loose even when locked and banged when the next door was closed or opened. The owner said they have now fixed the door and the shower.

My wife and I overnighted here in a queen studio the night before visiting Waitomo and on a road trip around the North Island.
The location although on a main road wasn't overly noisy, was clean and tidy and fair value. The local shops provided some good options for eating even on a Monday night and the owner was helpful in recommending some options. Would happily stay here again if the opportunity arose.

I stayed here for one night in April 2022. The motel is well located on the main street opposite Countdown, and just a few minutes' walk from the main shops and restaurants.

The room was large and clean, and the wifi worked very well. The bathroom and kitchen had the usual amenities. There is on-site parking.

I'll stay here again if revisiting Otorohanga.

My family of 5 (mum, dad and 3 kids) stayed here for one night during our north island holiday adventure. We were very impressed with all aspects of our room and the service we received.
The beds were very comfortable, and the little bit of extra effort into styling the rooms didn't go unnoticed.
Would happily stay here again and highly recommend!

Nicest motel I’ve stayed in, and there’s been a few. Extremely clean, and I’m a clean freak! Modern/classic decor and everything you need in the room. Close to all amenities and tourist attractions. Very friendly owners. I saw someone else’s comment about road noise and we stayed in a room near the main road. As a person who normally doesn’t sleep well, I was not disturbed by traffic at all. Great place :)

We often stay at the palm court when we have family gatherings in Otorohanga. Every time I notice the cleanliness, the nice little touches and the comfortable rooms. We always have great service too, all for a very reasonable price. Easy walking distance to the Main Street and a lot of the town.

I would like to say this is the cleanest motel I have ever been to. The owner is very helpful and kind. The rooms are clean and well stocked. Even when I left something in the room, the owner called to let me know and decide if we wished to return for the item. This is a great spot to stay if visiting the caves.
