We stayed here for two nights while we were working nearby. Yes the rooms are small and dated but it is a truley authentic experience. Staff were outstanding. Genuine and helpful. Breakfast was relatively inexpensive and the dinner was delicious and reasonably priced for a hotel. My upstairs room had a lovely outlook. We will come back. If you want...

We hunted around for a hotel at the price we wanted to pay but there are not a lot of options in Waitomo :). The reviews were a little patchy but we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very small. One double bed and the room is full (no queen so if you are travel as a couple you will...

We spent a night at the Waitomo Hotel which is an art deco style building that has managed to retain much of the glamour and opulence of the early days but with a Maori flavour. The room was nice and the bed very comfortable. During our check in, I happened to mention that we were there for my partners 70th...

I am truly appalled at the customer service I received during my short interaction on the phone with Waitomo Caves Hotel. After visiting Waitomo on a study trip, I called the hotel to quickly ask the number of rooms the hotel has - a pretty quick and simple question right?! First attempt to call I was hung up on, second...

The hotel is caught between the old and the new. It needs some renovations. It has all the basics. Restaurant, spa pool, travel brochures, etc but needs a lift. Our room was very small. Double bed only. The bathroom roof paint was peeling. It has alot of potential.

More than a Victorian Style hotel or an Antique hotel, I would say that it's old and they really need to refurbish. Carpet full of tears and stains, old furniture...Value for money quite expensive. Only good thing that its close to the caves.

We stayed here for 1 night purely so we could do the caves the next day. The location is excellent and the one lady on reception was nice but that's it. The rooms were not clean at all, we must have cleared 3/4 cobwebs from the bathroom, there were ants in the room too. My mother in law also had...

So the hotel looks pretty grand from the outside, the inside is similar, but you can see where some renovation is needed. Paint was chipping in our room, it smelt a bit musty, and it was very small. The bed was pushed up against the wall, something I don't expect when I book a double room as I'm used to...

I first stayed here in 1984; then it was “The only one place to stay in Waitomo.” Thirty three years after our first visit I booked there again without hesitation. Unfortunately expectations have changed in 33 years, we now expect lightning fast wifi, mini bars, tea and coffee facilities, wardrobes, and walk in showers. The Hotel has wifi, but none...

Okay, the place needs a bit of love, or even a complete renovation, but I loved the old school style of this place. Yeah sure the paint was peeling and the carpet is a bit warn but this place is dripping in 1900's character. If you want something out of the ordinary this is the best place in town
