Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I apologize that this review took so long to get to. For a start, Lisette was the most helpful person we have ever encountered in our travels. She set us up with a car rental and with a place to stay upon our arrival, even though we were making last-minute plans. Her care and flexibility in working with us to accommodate our schedule and her knowledge and suggestions about the island were indispensable. We enjoyed learning from her some of the more recent history of the island, the revolution, and the aftermath of the American action in the early 80s. I hope to make it back here again; we loved our stay! (We stayed in February 2020, but that is not an option to choose; sorry about the delay!)

We spent a wonderful week in Grenada last month and spent our last 3 days at the Rum Boat Retreat. What a great way to end our vacation. Rumboat is located outside of and within walking distance to the town of Gouyave, and about 45 - 60 minutes from the touristy southwestern tip of the island. Our room was comfortable and airy and opened out onto a large covered veranda with a view out to the sea. What a treat to sit out there in one of the comfy chairs and relax and sip a drink. The included breakfast was tasty, with any number of add-ons at a very reasonable rate. Of course the highlight of staying there is the staff. Lisette, Tedissa and Mario make you feel right at home the moment you arrive. Lisette is gracious and friendly and offers you a wealth of information about seeing the area and beyond, and they are always available if you need them. Our first night we walked down into the bustling little town and ate at the recommended Kelly's Hot Spot. There we ate a large, varied meal of fish and several local side dishes for about 20 ec each. For those who haven't figured out the local currency yet, that is an incredible bargain. We were lucky enough to be there for the famous Fish Friday, and our second night there we experienced that. And we saved our last night for an incredible 4+ course meal at Rumboat lovingly prepared by LIsette. Delicious, gourmet experience that is very reasonably priced! We ate family style with a fun and interesting family from Rhode Island. Since everything is made fresh to order, you need to make a reservation in advance. I can't say enough about how perfect Rumboat is. It exemplifies everything we like about travel- a comfortable stay with local people in beautiful surroundings within easy access to both the nature that Grenada is famous for and the local culture. Don't hesitate to book here. We hope to be back.

What makes this place great is not the stunning views or the delicious food but, the people who work here. Friendly and informative. Would recommend anyone to visit, especially those after an experience of local life.

Our son is finishing up at St George's University so we decided to visit again before he departed. Last February we stayed for two nights on Grand Anse and three nights at the Northern end of the island. Staying with Lisette is like staying with family. The food was excellent, the room was nice and affordable, and she takes care of everything for you. She is your personal concierge!

this is not a night life place unless bird sounds are your idea of nightlife. Located a bit out of the small town of Gouyave up on a hill. You can walk to town, but your walk back will be tougher (uphill). I think it is 4 private rooms with bath, unairconditioned except for a fan but being up high there are breezes, Nice breakfast is included but dinner which you have to book in advance is fairly expensive but a very elaborate master chef kind of experience. They usually rotate one day land (meats), next day sea (fish). Whoever books sits together at the big table on the porch - you really get to know for fellow travelers. And the hosts go out of their way to be nice - got a drive down to the Sugar Plantation one morning.

If you want to get close to a country you are visiting then stay here when on Grenada. Set in the hills away from the tourist areas you will be treated to comfortable accommodation, fantastic views and hospitality that cannot be bettered. Lisette and her team are generous with their time and their knowledge of the island is extensive. Finally, the food is absolutely outstanding. Breakfast and dinner on the veranda overlooking the sea; it just doesn't get better than that,

Lisette and her staff do a wonderful job catering to their guests. As a rum aficionado, you will not find a better selection in the Caribbean. With just 4 rooms, it’s a very cozy place that will let you develop relationships with the staff and the other guests. The food is very good, and prepared with care. I felt at home the entire time I was there.

We were in Grenada and Carriacou for three weeks in Jan 2019. Lisette and Mario introduced to numerous locations such as the nutmeg and chocolate factories, the Douglaston Estate, zconcord Falls, fish Friday in Gouyave and truely exceptional local cuisine (Oil down) by Roger. What a treat. If you are willing to spend a litle time to get out of the tourist rat race on Grande Anse Beach this is the place to go. In all my years of travel through West Africa, Indonesia, the Caribbean and Mexico, ive never been treated better. on a scale of 1 to 10, this place is an 11+!!!

Lisette went out of her way to give us a flavour of the real Grenada. We really appreciate everything she did for us. Our children have declared that Rumboat Retreat is their favourite place in Grenada. Would definitely recommend. You will not be disappointed.

We had a very nice stay in november 2018 in Rumboat retreat. Lisette (and Marrio) gave us a welcoming feeling and explained what to visit and do in the village and surroundings. We also liked the dinner with a different rum with each course. ( We liked Rumboat Retreat much better than the touristic south of Grenada!)
