In the enchanting scenery of the Tuscan hills, nestled between the green of the Valdichiana Valley and the impressive panorama of the Val d'Orcia, here stands our La Sovana Country Relais. A small corner of paradise in an area of 22 hectares that will offer a peaceful stay. Peace and relaxation a step away from this fascinating ancient history of the places that surround it. Our family, who runs the hotel since 1992, is ready to welcome in the respect of the traditional Tuscan style. In this spectacular setting of these stone houses with wooden beams and terracotta, you can also enjoy local dishes expertly prepared by Giovannella and her staff who choose every day the high-quality materials, with a great care for organic products from our orchard and at zero kilometer

Thank you Giuseppe, family and staff for the great hospitality. Beautiful setting with lots of amenities. Rooms are great with a mix of modern and rustic feel. Nice pool with a view of the vineyards. Food is amazing. Fix menu for dinner. Wine also very good. Resort is close to the main road therefore a very short drive on dirt roads (which is a plus compared to other resorts where you have to drive many km on dirt roads to get there). Close to the highway as well. 30 mins to Montepulciano. 1h45 mins to Rome. Probably good for families but no children when we were there so it was pretty peaceful. We arrived there with no reservation and ended up staying for 5 nights. I think this says it all!

We spend one week on this wonderful place and loved it. The food and wine are excellent, the service are the best. The pool area has a wonderful view over the wine fields. We will for sure come back again.

Spent five nights in late July at La Sovana. The grounds are beautiful and the views are of postcard quality. The pool was a fantastic way to relax after visiting the Tuscan and Umbrian towns of Montepulciano, Cortona, Cetona and Citta Della Pieve all within a 30 minute drive. I would strongly advise eating dinner at the resort each night. The food is some of the best we had on our 3 week trip in Italy. Thank you La Sovana for a great stay.

This was our second visit to this resort (first visit in 2018) and it was really disappointing this time around. Lots of screaming unsupervised children in the pool, families wandering around not observing any kind of social distancing, without masks etc. Owner and some staff not wearing masks when interacting with guests. All in all, our holiday was ruined by badly behaved children and we worried quite a bit about the risks of catching Coronavirus because the hotel's own policies weren't followed. Best avoided I'd suggest.

Response from Giuseppe Olivi, Proprietario at Resort Agriturismo La Sovana
Responded 2 Sep 2020
I am very sorry for your discontent as you both were our guests also in 2018. In any case, I want to clarify the following: • La Sovana has 14 rooms and 6 apartments; that particular week (8-15 August) we had 32 adult guests and 9 children: generally La Sovana is a quiet place even when we are full; • La Sovana spreads over 22 hectares of land, in the open countryside and far from inhabited centers, with a park of over two hectares and open spaces available for all guests, with a large solarium, around the swimming pool area, the restaurant area and the tennis courts. • We came back from a lockdown of over two months: how can you expect, not to let children play after this period of total closure and it was so dramatic for all ?! • Since our opening date, back in 1992, we have always welcomed everyone, families with children, certainly not discriminating against them for this; • I’m sure you both came very biased and scared; In conclusion, I would like to point out that if Madam had wanted a more solitary vacation then she should have come in another period of time and not the week of very high season, like the middle week of August. However, we will be happy to receive you again as guest in the near future and we would like to invite you both to dinner so we can drink a bottle of our good wine together. Giuseppe

We spent a week in Southern Tuscany and we chose La Sovena as our base! Giuseppe and all the staff were so friendly, so professional and so helpful and, in so doing, they made our stay very pleasant. The breakfasts were most enjoyable with a wide choice to suit all tastes. We dined in the restaurant on three occasions and enjoyed the evening meal experience! A visit to the family vineyard and winery with Guiseppe and Maryana was a highlight as we were educated in wine making whilst tasting quality wines! Olivi Wines from Tuscany! Thanks also to Fiorella and Raquelle for making our stay so pleasant overall. Nothing was a problem!!!! Any constructive criticism? Without being rude, the chalet accommodation is a “bit tired” and needs to be upgraded. We thought we were booking the best accommodation at La Sovena but apparently not! Main building is better! Suggest an upgrade is due! Apart from that, a most enjoyable stay and a good base for touring and visiting Southern Tuscany..... Recommend this Agriturismo to all. Suggest you book directly with the property!!
