Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We recently spent 10 days at Modica Palace Hotel. Everyone from the front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and restaurant staff were wonderful. All were friendly and helpful. The pool area is very nice and peaceful. We booked a superior room which was quiet and comfortable. We'd definitely consider staying here again should we find ourselves in Modica. Notes: The shuttle is no longer available. You definitely need a car or you'll be booking taxis. Breakfast was very good. The restaurant didn't appear to be open for dinner or was only open for groups so we never tried to eat there. Some of the pool furniture was in need of repair or replacement. It is the end of the season.. All in all it was a very good experience.

We first visited Modica Palace Hotel last summer and loved it so much we decided to return. We soon found that things had dramatically changed. We were old the hotel had changed hands. Skeleton staff, dinner that used to be amazing but now on a set menu that never changes so for us with the half board would have meant eating the same things for a week. The staff tried to help but we were not enjoying our meals at all. There were only 4 people dining in the restaurant each night whereas last year it was always full and despite this we had to wait for hours to be served. On more than one occasion our food did not arrive as ordered and we sent it back. On our last night I ordered a steak well done and I received it rare at which point we just got up and left. It is obvious that there are issues at management level, cost cuts is the one standing out but what was unacceptable was the Manager's behaviour. When we asked for a refund on our meal he got angry and his behaviour was quite aggressive, he told us there were no problems with the hotel and the reviews were good. He was not interested in listening to our feedback and he just left while we were talking and slammed the door on us. If I was the owner of this business I would be worried. A good manager always tries to accommodate customers and listen to their issues even act out on them so that customers do actually go back. I have recommended this hotel to so many people but will no longer do that and definitely will not return. It's such a shame.

The hotel was fine. Compared to some of the other gems in Sicily, this property fell low on our list. The room was not the greatest. The pool was wonderful though. My primarily warning would be NOT to book a massage at the hotel. The massage therapists seemed to have very little if any experience or training. My partner and I booked a couples massage and asked for deep tissue, but the ladies gently grazed our skin with copious amounts of oil. At the end, he had a pool of oil on his chest that spilled off of him when he stood up. We also requested to have our towels covering us when not massaged but they took them off and we were lying there naked and cold. We requested throughout that they massage harder, but it stayed gentle the entire time. It would’ve been fine had it felt nice and had any amount of pressure, but it simply felt like they were lightly brushing oil all over us. It didn’t feel like anything. I told the front desk hoping that they would understand our disappointment, but we were still charged 70 euro for each person. All in all, not great hospitality. Just glad we didn’t start our trip here otherwise it would’ve been a rough start to the holiday.

Superb hotel The receptionist welcomed us warmly with a smile. They gave us a free upgrade. Our 2 nd time staying here and they always manage to amaze us and wish to go back. Rooms are very large and spacious. Bathroom was very large with shower and jacuzzi bath in it. Outside parking was ok. Breakfast was good, bread, ham cheese, cakes, they also offered us scrambled eggs. Begg ffg ore we left we were given a delicious famous chocolate from modica.

I spent a week here with my daughter for her birthday. The hotel is 4 star and spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. Beautiful pool in a lovely garden setting, adjacent to the restaurant which has a lovely terrace. There is a rather noisy road just behind the hotel grounds which can be intrusive but it didn't bother me particularly. I loved the computerised lawnmower which is on a seemingly endless mission to cut the immaculate lawns!! Our rooms were basic but clean and bright, air conditioned with small balconey. It would have been nice to have coffee/tea making facilities in the room but it's a minor point as both are available in the bar throughout the day for €2.00. The food was delicious, particularly the breakfast buffet which offers a wide variety of fresh fruit, yogurts and homemade cakes and pastries. The lunch menu offers pasta, salads (Buratta - my favourite) and a hearty burger! The dinner menu is more expensive neuvelle cuisine. The old Baroque town of Modica is a short drive - we took a taxi which cost €10 each way. Lots to explore and see there. A car would be an advantage if staying at this hotel if you wish to explore further afield. There is plenty of parking. All in all we had a very relaxing holiday.

The hotel is modern and clean but rather tucked away in the new part of Modica. There's not much here for a tourist and the old town is a drive away.A main road runs just behind the hotel so there is constant traffic noise when round the pool. While the reception staff and cleaner are all pleasant and helpful, the restaurant was not up to much. The buffet breakfast would have been fine if the staff kept the food topped up. We had to keep asking for more bread to be brought out and the hot food was invariably just a scraping left (and rarely hot). More scrambled eggs, for example, would eventually be brought if asked but usually just enough for a couple of servings and then it would run out again. Dinner was ok but the limited menu didn't change all week so we ended up driving out to local restaurants. The most entertaining aspect was watching the robot lawn mower careering round the lawns and bumping into everything.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The place was kept immaculate and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the pool area although most of the time we were the only ones using it! Restaurant was highly recommended and the food superb although with it being so quiet it lacked atmosphere. There was a good variety for breakfast although the hot food was often cold if you went down later but there was plenty of other options. Only other thing would be you really need transport as you are not in an ideal spot for getting about. Highly recommended.
