Today my husband and I did a tasting at cantine del castello verduno. It was a great experience, and Fabio was super informative and hospitable. We loved the wines, and we loved the explanation he gave. There are various options for a tasting (from €25 to €90) and we selected the basic, which included the history of the castle, a geographic explanation, your of the cellar, and 4 wines. A big thank you to Fabio and we hope to see you soon!

Wow, just wow. Old place from 1600 which is converted into a hotel. Charming place, great views and good breakfast (a la card). Breakfast and every orher meal is outside, under big trees with lots of little lights in them. Really coY.
Dinner is good , about 80 for wine and 2 courses.
When you stand in front of the place, look to your left: a little board that says Cantina. Just knock or ring the bell. This is their wine cellar. We got a little tour from a lovely lady, the owner who’s family own the hotel and the winery for almost 100 years. They sell their own wine there also.
More then enough parking.
3 decent restaurants nerby.

I visited the hotel in October in a party of 4, having been twice before (5 years ago most recently). We were really looking forward to staying again but perhaps memories and expectations painted too rosy a picture compared with reality. This is a nice hotel with real character but it no longer seems like good value. Most disappointing however was our meal in the restaurant on our day of arrival. The menu is in fact pretty expensive for what it is, Most disappointing however was the reaction when we expressed dissatisfaction with some quite expensive local wine which was without doubt the cloudiest wine I've ever seen served. Huge lumps of sediment poured into our glasses. My party know their way around Barolo and Barbaresco, this was clearly a poor bottle, but the staff treated us with contempt for questioning it. Such a shame. The hotel is now tired, the menu is tired, and if you can't rely on the wine there really doesn't seem much point going back. Such a shame. Our meal in the Trattoria Dai Bercau down the road however is worth travelling for....

We have been staying at Castello di Verduno about 10 times during 10 years. We have recommended it to friends and they have stayed there again and again. The amount of stay overs by our friends and their friends must be close to 200, if not more.
It is not a place for everyone, but for those who love wine, living in a historical place, a quiet and peaceful garden, excellent food and closeness to all delicisous food and wines you can dream of - it is paradise. It is NOT for those who want TV, minibar, swimmingpool, "suitable for families" - you should go to other places. There are plenty of those for you.
You can get help with arranging wine tastings both at the castle and at other producers'. You can get all kinds of help and assistance, just ask for it.

Simply put this was probably the best travel experience of our life thus far. My wife and I were first introduced to Castello Di Verduno from an amazing sommelier in San Francisco who recommended we try a bottle of Pelaverga and it was love at first sip. Since that moment over the next 6 years or so we slowly learned more and more about Piemonte wine and got our hands on as many bottles of Castello Di Verduno wine as we could. When we sat down to plan our first trip to Italy, my wife and I both knew we had to visit Castello Di Verduno – it felt like fate.
We rented a car in Milano and started our drive. The busy and beautiful city of Milano slowly transformed into the absolutely breathtaking hills, vineyards, castles and landscape of Piemonte. After climbing up the windy roads to the elevated small town of Verduno it felt like a scene from a movie. We have a 2 year old toddler and both work full-time and hadn’t been away from our busy lives in quite some time. So when we arrived in Verduno it was everything we hoped it would be and more.
Castello di Verduno was simply perfect. Our suite was room #8 on the top floor in the corner with the best views in the castle (highly recommend this room if you stay here). The room was lovely with a large comfortable bed, nice updated bathroom, truly stunning views and old castle charm that is hard to describe. No, it is not a luxury hotel with fancy amenities, televisions a pool or a spa. But that is EXACTLY why it was so fantastic. When you walk in you immediately smell the home cooked food that the family who owns the castle has been cooking all day long. The wine tasting and cellar tour was an experience my wife and I will never forget. Staying here gave us the ability to fully disconnect, unwind and truly relax.
In Verduno you are completely immersed in the culture and community of this incredible region of Piemonte. In our 5 days there we explored the incredible towns of Alba, Asti, Bra, La Morra, Barolo and more – visiting wineries and eating unbelievable food along the way. The drive between these towns cannot be described in words – views and landscape that literally take your breath away. We had too many incredible food experiences to mention them all but the ones that will stick with us were lunches at Casa Ciabotto, pizza at Per Bacco and the best dinner of our lives at Trattoria Dai Bercau.
After Piemonte, we went on to spend time in Firenze and Roma – but nothing can compare to the experience we had in Piemonte at Castello di Verduno. I’d recommend staying here to anyone and everyone!

where do I begin: I like to travel and usually don't complain but I have to write about this place. First I will say that it is charming in an old world, crumbling down around you, sort of way. The rooms are clean and have character. However, the beds are metal cots with thin, hard mattresses disguised with old bed frames. The pillows are thin and hard too. The showers stalls are so small that you cannot turn around in them and I banged my elbows several times. I was not happy with the first room she gave us because of the view of the half a dozen cats and laundry hanging from the rail. It was not easy to get a room change but the owner agreed and said we can stay in the new room for the rest of the week. Two days later she said she rented my room to someone else and I had to move. She did the same thing to my sister who did not ask for a change. I found everyone in Italy very friendly except the people in this hotel. The entire staff treated you like you were intruding in their lives. This is probably true since they all live there. Sleeping was also difficult because the church across the street rang the bell in the tower every half hour, and the cantina in front of the hotel had noisy patrons until early morning. If you could sleep you might be woken in the early morning when the butcher shop on the adjacent street slaughtered cows in the street. I was so unhappy at this hotel that I can say without hesitation that the hotel and the staff ruined an otherwise perfect trip. If you want old world charm and don't care about comfort or being treated well, stay here, but don't forget your earplugs.

Verduno is a very characterful small hill-top town on the edge of Barolo (much less busy and spoilt than Barolo town!). The castle is very quaint and charming with classic décor. We stayed on the top floor with great views over the winelands. The castle makes its own range of wines and you get a free tasting right next door when you stay. Just outside the gates is the local CCCC 'coop' which is a great place to eat local food and sample and buy stunning Barolo and Barbaresco wines in an informal atmosphere. Hotel dining room has a classic style although we didn't eat there, we went to CCCC! Hotel garden is lovely and very relaxing to enjoy a glass of something very nice as the sun sets. Town has a few restaurants and an agro-Turismo which looks very nice. Winelands are all around and its just 15min drive to Barolo through pretty vineyards (although I preferred less touristy Barbaresco myself). Quirky and stylish place to stay, recommended.

We have been coming to this quiet oasis for many years. It is very comforting to find that nothing ever changes!! Enjoy a nice bottle of Prosecco in the beautiful garden and a relaxing and delicious dinner in the evening. Verduno is a perfect location for exploring the beautiful area. The drive to Barolo is magical and the lovely green hills, vineyards and villages look almost unreal. It is a wonderful and romantic place for couples who just want to enjoy the good things in life and relax without radio and TV!!

We already stayed several times in the Albergo in Verduno within the last ten years. This time my husband and my mother in law joined me for my birthday. We had a great dinner as usual, with excellent wine. The service is a bit reserved but professional. The quality of the food is exceptionell.
We stayed at the agriturismo ca' del re which was an excellent choice. We got the appartment and it was very convenient. Breakfast is great and we felt very welcome.
