We have been at Westin Shimeibay twice - location is not very touristic, beaches are clean and not overcrowded. The hotel itself is very family friendly (50m indoor pool), several outdoor pools, play grounds and kids club. Food wise you will have the choice between Chinese and Chinese food ;-) the western cuisines isn’t too fancy (but who cares). We would recommend to rent a car if you stay there longer. I arrived early at the Westin and my room was not quite ready. No worries – I went and had a lovely lunch in the restaurant downstairs from the lobby and a coffee in Lobby Lounge. When I did get my room, I was SO happy! Baron Liu at the front desk was a gem and the room was delightful – on the first floor and right at pool level so my patio opened up to the pool and I could hop right in! The bed, of course, was heavenly (as advertised) and the room was spacious and clean. The staff at the Lobby Lounge were polite and accommodating and got to know me because of my daily coffee and snack visits. The beach is clean and the beach chairs and towels numerous. They have a small roped off swimming area on the beach as I believe there is a bit of an undertow. However, the pool was excellent, and I chose to stay there because it was nearly empty every day! They have a small drinks/ice cream bar at the pool which was nice for refreshments. The nightly buffet on the lawn was good but got a bit old after 3 nights. Perhaps changing up the variety of food would make it more attractive. They have a western restaurant and of course, the Lobby Lounge. They also have two Chinese restaurants that catered more to families/big groups – not great for a solo traveler. For such a huge resort, I would expect more food options. My favorite part of my trip was my visit to the Heavenly Spa where Amy Long took amazing care of me! I probably had one of the best facials and massages I have had in a very long time and it was quite affordable.
Things to improve on at the Westin – more food options, especially for dinner; a stocked mini-bar with drinks and snacks in the room; warm/hot water in the shower (the water never got above luke warm); a better payment system at the buffet – you would request the bill and then have to wait 10-15 minutes while they retrieved a printout for the room charge.
Regardless of these small improvements, I would highly recommend the Westin at Shimei Bay and would happily visit again. If we can’t travel out of China for Chinese New Year, you will find me at the Westin!

I would like to rate The Westin Shimei Bay Resort for 5.The Westin Shimei Bay Resort exceeded my expectations in almost all aspects.
We stayed at a family suite with direct access to the pool. Though it was too cold to use the pool, the suite itself was very spacious and comfortable. With two bathrooms and three sinks, a family would not feel constraint. The hotel was stylish and the suite we stayed was well maintained and cleaned.
I must mention the buffet breakfast of the hotel. It was among the best in China. Firstly the breakfast started at 06:30 though most hotels in Wanning and Sanya started at 07:00. 06:30 was very friendly for those who wanted or needed to get up early. Secondly, the choice of the food was among the top tier and food was delicious. F&B team was amazing.
All staff I had met were ready for help and keen to help. This made The Westin Shimei Bay an absolute five star hotel. Special thanks to Ms. Xu for her assistance during our stay. We needed some place quiet for some reason before we could check in, she helped to arrange a room for us so that we could stay until our room was ready.
The Westin Shimei Bay Resort was definitely one of the best five star hotels I had stayed in China and I strongly recommend this hotel.

I had made a reservation at the rate of 3700 CNY for 5 nights via Marriott.com and received the confirmation email. However, this hotel sent me an email to notify me that they think the rate is incorrect so they just cancelled my reservation. HOW RIDICULOUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE! This rate is totally marketable and you can even find lower rate on many dates now. The most UPSET thing is that the management of this hotel doesn't even bother contacting their customers personally and just sent a BS email to "notify" their customers. This hotel lacks basic sense of responsibility and respect to their customers so what kind of service could you expect?

On a holiday during Dragon Boat festival, we wanted to have dinner at the Westin buffet, as recommended by our host. We arrived at 8:45pm and the staff at the reception told us we had two options, the buffet outside or the restaurant inside. Once at the buffet, we were told that it wasn’t possible to have dinner because It was late and they were closing. We had dinner at the restaurent then. We ordered the full Pork ribs in BBQ sauce. The ribs consisted of 5 bones with barely any meat on it, that were too cooked and hard. The price for this dish was 158 rmb, which is a shame for what it looked and tasted like. We then decided to order a margarita pizza, thinking it could hardly be messed up. We ended up with an industrial pizza, that tasted more of sugar than anything.
The venue was beautiful but the services and quality of this restaurant were highly disappointing. Paying 500 rmb for a high standard restaurant, we would expect to have decent food.

This is the worst hotel ever. My wife and I stayed here on Jun. 11. She is a Marriott platinum member and I have Titanium status. Although we encountered Marriott hotels not wanting to provide member upgrade, this hotel has taken it to another level. Hotel managment instructed hotel employees not to provide room upgrade around any Chinese holidays, even if rooms are available.
Come to think of it, the issue with Marriott hotels are their highly inconsistent service. Likely due to many franchises that Marriott can’t control. So yes, I recommend any Marriott members who wish to stay at this hotel to book using OTA so this hotel can pay a higher take rate.
Lastly, the bathroom sink is just way too small. Breakfast is also mediocre.

The service at this hotel was abhorrent. Staff will not allow customers to swim in the water past their knees, so don’t go there expecting to swim. Breakfast buffet was over crowded and much of the food had no taste. All in all one of the worst vacation experiences I have ever had. If you’re planning to visit Hainan don’t go to this overpriced sand pit with no ability to swim in the ocean. This “hotel” should be appalled by their lack of service and ability.

Entered the restaurant at 6:30PM. I was told this Westin is no longer doing any type of buffet. No one except a couple and a man sitting at their tables. I ordered French fries and the spicy chicken burger. Had to wait 45 minutes before complaining to leave and not paying anything to finally get food served at my table within 5 minutes. I was given poor excuses such as the other clients ordered much more complicated food...Anyway, mac donalds do taste like five stars compared to the atrocious burger I was provided at this place. Moreover the chicken was a little funny, I got sick during the night and threw up all this terrible shamelessly overpriced evening meal. I will never stop by this location ever again.

Very busy hotel Mid March, maybe because people cannot travel abroad due to covid and quarantine. 3rd floor Mountain view room 1st night, exactly that. Large room, twin dou⁷ble bed small bathroom and stupidly small bath. Had to ask for fridge to be opened by a key to use, informed people not always honest. Nice size balcony with sofa, chair and table. 2nd and 3rd nights moved to 5th sea view, much better with view. Advise 5th floor as 3rd and below appear to be in tree line. Fridge in this room was open. Rooms have plenty of electric International plug sockets. Busy 9am crowd was easily catered for at breakfast, which was very good. Had Italian themed buffet, it was ok but no stand out foods, good selection of bottled beers and a draught beer. Hotel grounds are vast and grassed, very well kept. Le Meridien next door is all sand frontage so be aware. Hotel lobby is a whow, must visit just to see. Beech is good, turn left walk maybe 1km, turn right long long beech walk. Restaurants outside hotel and are good. Staff nice but not too good with English. Recommend

A great place to relax, rejuvenate, go swimming, and enjoy the views of the mountains and the South China Sea. The property is spacious and a popular wedding destination. The fitness centre is large and packed with excellent equipment. It is very family friendly and has a nice children’s pool with slides. Similar to many resorts in China, it is very budget-friendly. I love vacationing in China.

They have path towards the beach also provide showers after you returned from the beach. Sea is open I don’t know whether it’s safe for swimming which you can ask front desk
Здравствуйте! Можно оплачивать непосредственно на ресепшине в ресторане. Обед 200 юаней и ужин тоже по этой цене, хотя иногда мы платили по 150, не помню почему, но цена менялась. Большой ресторан, большой выбор блюд,кухни мира. Советую попробовать суп китайскую лапшу, весьма впечатляет. Если цена за обеды и ужины дороговаты для бюджетного туриста, то тогда можете вкусно и дешево пообедать в столовой, которая находится в здании супермаркета, что напротив отеля. Правда столовая работает строго по времени и в определенные часы, но там реально вкусно и дешево.Удачного отдыха!!
