The Double A is a hotel in Nungwi with particular characteristics. It has a reasonable number of rooms so it's never too crowded and has a phenomenal location. It is truly by the sea, 5 meters from the water. We stayed in a superior room with an ocean view and falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was magnificent. The swimming pool surrounded by a beautiful and well-kept garden and three splendid flamboyant trees is ideal for cooling off after a dip in the crystal clear and always warm waters of the ocean. The rooms are spotless, the food is excellent and at absolutely honest prices and the hotel staff is very kind and very attentive to the customer. The manager of the facility, an Indian gentleman, is an exquisite person, always ready to satisfy the needs of guests and provide for any needs. I spent a week in this facility and had breakfast (excellent by the way) and dinner in front of this wonderful sea was beautiful. The location of the structure also with respect to the center of Nungwi where there are many restaurants, clubs and local shops is strategic because it is a 5-minute walk away, therefore close but not in the chaos, quiet but a stone's throw from the nightlife. Ideal for couples of any age, but also for families with children as access to the beach is very convenient (just take 4 steps from the pool area) the Double A is in my opinion a highly recommended hotel and has an excellent quality/price ratio.

Lovely hotel right on the beach. Very clean and good size rooms. Food was lovely. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble especially Abdullah, Muhammad, Mambo, Emanuel, Omar, Eric and Babei. They always make sure everything is perfect. The cleaning staff are brilliant and come at night to spray mosquito spray in rooms. Cannot fault the hotel and would recommend to anyone. The staff and location make the perfect holiday

I was very pleased with this hotel and the stay there. The hotel itself is a small 50 room hotel with much more personable service than one would encounter in a resort tyoe hotel. It is located right on the beach with a lovely pool. The rooms were very clean and the cleaning staff arrived every evening to turn down the bed in addition to the normal morning housekeeping. It was lovely to have little flower petals and arrangements on the bed following housekeeping. Afternoon had the difficult decision on whether to swim in the pool or the sea which were right beside each other. We also indulged in poolside drinks brought to us by our excellent waiters. The staff in every area of the hotel were really welcoming, attentive and friendly. We opted for breakfast which had an excellent selection of fruit, juices and cooked options. The freshly cooked omelette was an excellent choice. There was a lovely bar where you could watch the sun go down each evening with the most amazing sunsets. Dinner is available at the hotel and the fare is quiet good. There is different nights of BBQ and traditional dancing which were both enjoyable. As the hotel is at the centre of the Nunqwi tourist area there is plenty of option within easy reach of the hotel to enjoy the various different culinary influences in Zanzibar.

This lovely boutique hotel is located right on the Nungwi beach, just a few steps from the Ocean and very close to various bars & restaurants. It is an ideal starting point for long beach walks, boat trips and other water activities. With a private, relaxing atmosphere, stunning views, and a shaded pool, it's perfect for families. The food in hotel restaurant delicious. Staff members are warm-hearted, helpful and demonstrated hospitality, ensuring our comfort and accommodating our requests with a smile. They also make sure that you are not bothered by local beach boys when staying on the front raw sun-beds. The clean, spacious, air-conditioned rooms with comfortable beds enhance your stay experience. Don't miss out on their excellent massage service.

The location of the hotel is amazing, right at the beach. We loved the beautiful views every time we dined in the restaurant. Food was delicious and they also served Indian delicacies. We tried daal makhani which tasted authentic. The hotel has its own boat to take guests on sunset watching trips. They served fruits and soft drinks on board and some locals sang traditional Swahili songs to entertain us. So, it was completely ‘hakuna matata’ (no worries) for us.

Subbaiah, Irene and the rest of the staff at Double A Nungwi Beach Hotel are the warmest and most welcoming people you could meet. The location is magical with the ocean reaching right up to the hotels steps at high tide, the food is good, the drinks are great and the views are spectacular. The hotel is newly opened so not all the amenities were available to us, they are in the process of expanding to include a spa, and will soon offer dhow cruises as well. The rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable and the overall experience was spectacular - I can only say Asante Sana!!

This place is awesome for a budget holiday in Zanzibar. The hotel is small, but it still has a big restaurant with 2 floors and varied menu, swimming pool, billiard, live music and bbq party every Saturday. The main advantage is the restaurant above the sea. No one hotel I've been in my entire life has had view like this, it’s absolutely gorgeous!
The staff of the hotel is beyond all praise. Everyone is so pleasant and nice, ready anytime to come and help with anything. I felt like I was the only one and the main guest in entire hotel, which is so nice and indicates the highest level of service. The hotel and rooms are well cleaned, fresh towels are provided every day.
The food was great for Zanzibar, but you need to wait 30-40 minutes to get your dish. But we used this life hack: we made an order in advance on particular time, so our dishes were ready when we arrived. Breakfast is the same every day but tasty and warm.
We had the best room in the entire hotel, which is 1 minute walk from the beach with the sea view. The ebb and flow of the tides were practically not felt here, that was the main requirement for a vacation for us.
My long-awaited vacation was perfect here. Thank you so much, absolutely recommend to everyone!

Our stay at Double A Nungwi Hotel in Zanzibar was excellent overall. We were thrilled with our stunning room, which was made even better thanks to a complimentary room upgrade. The views were simply amazing, and the staff did a great job ensuring that vendors didn't hassle us too much during our stay.
The restaurant served incredible food, though it was quite slow at times. This was only a problem when we had to catch a taxi home, and breakfast ended up taking an hour. Despite this, the staff were absolutely wonderful and accommodating. I can't believe the restaurant wasn't busier- we ate there for all of our meals for three days and weren't disappointed!
Unfortunately, we did experience a disturbing incident one night. We heard the general manager verbally abusing his staff, yelling and using swear words- perhaps he didn't realize we were sitting outside of our room. It was a horrible experience that left us feeling uncomfortable. When we asked the staff about it the next day, they graciously laughed it off, but it didn’t sit right with us. He also was served (like a king) during the day- it was clear the power dynamic wasn't healthy. We sincerely hope the owner addresses this issue and ensures that such behavior towards the staff changes.
Overall, Double A Nungwi Hotel offers a beautiful and enjoyable stay with some areas needing improvement, particularly in terms of management behavior.

Waited close to 90 minutes for steak and king prawns, apparently cooked on the barbecue ! Jacket potatoes were supposed to be the side, but we were informed from the outset that the choices were mash (with prawns, really!) After a wait of 75 minute, we said we would leave if food did not arrive shortly. Bearing in mind there were no more than 8 other people in the restaurant. Food arrived, peeled king prawn to establish that only one end was cooked. Waiting staff were pleasant and offered to replace meal. At this stage, we were not interested. On leaving, the owner, who had not appeared all evening came up with a story about generator failing, although what effect that would have on a barbecue was lost on us. So glad I didn’t eat the prawn. It was our 25th wedding anniversary dinner, so very unhappy. Owner offered lunch for us, but we declined. Such a nice location. Would not recommend.

Dear Guests, We regret for the above. As I explained to you we had a small accident in the kitchen which was not avoidable while preparing your food and so the order was delayed. In fact all our guests are very happy and go back with fullest satisfaction. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we assure you that will not happen again.
