Agree with Connie above at every point. Same experience. This hotel didn’t feel like 4* Went by reviews on booking.com
Pros The owner/manager Khaled was nice as were the staff in this hotel
Grounds were quite nice albeit quite small
A short walk to the beach( but through dirt treks filled with pot holes so was unpleasant to walk).
Tea/coffee facilities provided but no milk
Cons
We paid $200/night and this was a very unacceptable standard even in Tanzania.
No sea views as described even from 3rd floor
No telephone in room to communicate with reception
Damp patches in room Shower got blocked on first night but sorted the next day. Basin tap all rusted as well as mirror (for a 4* not acceptable) Shower pressure very low and oddly placed shower head No place to keep our toiletries in the bathroom
Dogs barking outside
Breakfast quite basic
No beach towels provided ( which they did eventually after I made a fuss). This hotel was in a beach resort!
Safe not attached to wall or cupboard so easily removable
2 small complementary water bottles were given only on the first night. Found it unusual as all other hotels we stayed in gave us 2 everyday. At $200/night, surely this is a small cost?
Air con hit your face directly. Placed in an awkward position.
This hotel was worth about $80 and not $200. We were there after New Year not even during the holiday period.
We are well travelled people and with such poor facilities at such a high price, we felt cheated.

My friends and I enjoyed our stay at Malika Hotel. Although arriving pretty late at night; we were properly greeted and welcomed by Khalid (property manager). In addition, we were able to order food which was pretty good (breakfast and dinner). The property is very nice on the outside, and definitely provided an African cultural type of feel to it. The rooms were standard in size, but could use some polishing up in a few areas. Hot water was an issue, but was told during departure that we needed to press a certain button which we possibly forgot during our arrival.
Nevertheless, Khalid provided excellent hospitality and ensured that we were accommodated throughout our entire stay. He is very hands-on, and does his best to provide high quality service. This, in fact, accumulated 5 stars in my book!

great hotel. we spent 2 weeks with him all inclusive. delicious food, every day the cook asked what we wanted and prepared it. large and very tasty portions. room large, spacious and clean. cleaned daily. cleaning ladies prepared beautiful things from towels for us. large and clean pool, warm water. we got towels that can be taken to the beach. the beach is about 6-7 minutes walk from the hotel. it's not far. the beach is clean, wide, the water in the ocean is beautiful! amazing colors. very nice service, we have never met such nice people who worked with pleasure. we were the only guests in the hotel for a week, all the attention was focused on us. every staff member is nice and polite, smiling. well-kept hotel grounds, beautiful garden. beds very comfy. many times they prepared a unique romantic candlelight dinner for us, for example in the garden, by the pool etc. highly recommended.

This place convinces with friendly and caring personel and managers, good breakfast and a large, clean pool in which you can really swim. Intercontinental Breakfast is of good quality and beside fresh fruit there is a cook who prepares you eggs as you wish them to be. Rooms are clean and equipped with Air Condition (with low-noise sleep function), TV, fridge, safe and more. To the beach it‘s 4-5min to walk. Walking back in darkness after the beautiful sunsets was no problem in our perception. The hotel is located directly beside „Cocobello Zanzibar“ where they have parties from time to time.
There is the possibility to have a good-tasting dinner there a la carte and they can offer you a menu for a good price if you ask for it.

We hadn't booked to stay in this hotel, but the hotel we wanted to stay was already full so forced us to go to Malika hotel. At first, the hotel appeared to be very beautiful and new. The room was spacious and the staff kind. As we wanted to have a shower though, we noticed that the bathroom was really dirty there was hair everywhere and it was disgusting. There wasn't even toilet paper, it looked like that they hadn't clean it before. The first and second day we also had problems with hot water (it didn't work properly). We wanted to watch TV, but the remote control didn't have batteries inside. We asked for them several times but they had never gave them to us. Breakfast was good. Laundry service too much expensive (2 USD per piece). To sum up, it didn't worth the value, many spaces are still under construction. The hotel still need perfecting and improving before opening to public and have those kind of prices.

The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were large and always clean. The pool was beautiful, as well as the night lights. The massages were relaxing and well priced. The location was quiet, yet close to the beautiful Nungwi Beach (where all the fun happens). A holiday/honeymoon we will never forget and would definitely return to in the future!

10/10 experience. I had such a fantastic stay at Malika hotel. The manager Khalid made me and my friends feel extremely welcome. He met every need of ours. Hotel was spic and span. Food was delicious.
The staff was incredibly polite and welcoming too. I will miss them all.
The hotel is in a great location. 5min walk to nungwi beach and 10min from turtle aquarium. I felt safe and would definitely recommend this to anyone who is considering a holiday in nungwi.

Noisy hotel, a dog shelter is located right next door! dilapidated swimming pool: damaged floor and paint, repetitive food. Only the bedding is good and the room is clean. However, nauseating odors came from the shower and were very unpleasant.

Good hotel for good trip. Service is good. Everyone try to help you! In this beginning i afraid regarding security, but be sure it best security in nungwi. Not to far from sea and main road. For me its the best compromise. I can recommend the hotel and service.
