I have just come back from Zanzibar. I chose My Blue twice and I definitely do not regret it. The hotel and its staff is definitely worth recommendation. I loved there absolutely everything - room, location, manager, receptionists, my thanks and greetings to Luana and Arafa. The hotel garden is beautifully kept, meals served in the cosy restaurant by the ocean, helpful waiters and waitresses among them Lea and Pili Aloyce with a beautiful smile who looked after us perfectly. Also location of the hotel is great with a clean, sandy beach in front of it which you still might admire after coming back home using on-line camera. Thank you My Blue People once again :)

Really not happy with our stay here. The hotel is full of Italian package tourists who have booked all inclusive so the big event for them is the lunch and dinner buffet. We don’t like all inclusive because we like to experience different dining venues and restaurants during our travels. Problem here is that if you don’t wear the all inclusive wristband, you’re almost looked down upon as if we would be the cheap tourists not willing to pay for a lunch and dinner buffet. We are well traveled and not even picky eaters but The menu for those of us not having their buffet is so limited and if such as or quality, it led to great disappointment: at high tide, you can’t walk along the beach to any other restaurant so you are trapped. The only thing on the menu which we found acceptable was a portion of French fries.

If you don’t get up early and “claim a lounge chair” at the beach/infinity pool, there is no way to get one. They reserve them with their towels all day and even bribe the towel boys to put towels for them.

We paid extra for an ocean view suite -there are only five of them. That means you are forced to hear the entire animation show every night until they finish between 10-11 PM. This was very distrurbing.

The mattress was very very hard, but somehow we got used to it as there was no other choice.

The room was fine, good water pressure, good hot water, and some friendly staff, especially Elizabeth in the restaurant. Infinity pool is nice with a beautiful view and a good temperature, and the beach is great. The main pool is nice.

They have a gym but the equipment is old and worn. Pool and ping pong supposedly available until 22:00 but all the lights were turned off and there were no pool balls so it’s almost like false advertising.

Housekeeping came to do our room one day at 4 PM, just when we had returned from a day out and we wanted to shower. We asked her to come again at 4:15 PM. We left the room at 4:15 PM, found her, topper her 10 USD, and when we came back at 10 PM, the room had not been done.

I could go on. But to end this; if you book an economic all inclusive it’s probably great value. But as an individual guest who paid more than 300 USD per night , this place is far from elevated and I would definitely not stay here again.

Note that we have visited 110 countries and stayed in accommodation of all types. We rarely complain and rarely write a negative review but due to our experience here, I was compelled to write this.

We did stay for 11 days at this Hotel. We did enjoy the beach and location every day. The staff are very friendly and will walk the extra mile for you. The swimming pools are a big plus. The reception is always helpful and the maintenance team always assist quickly and will help where they can. We loved this hotel and will recommend it to all we will just suggest just more information in the rooms about info and the surroundings will be nice. But after all that My blue Hotel and team Thank you we had a blast!!!

The property is very nice. The staff are friendly but the language barrier makes it difficult to have a conversation that consists of more than 20 words. The road leading to the hotel is a nightmare and if you have the slightest back problem...PLEASE stay away. The food was terrible and there is no variety. You get the same meal every day. Out of the 7 days there were 2 nights with special dinners and this was very good but unfortunately this was the only 2 good meals for the entire time. There are always flies on the food and not much gets done about the problem. While we were there a couple of people that we met got sick, including me. We had upset tummy's for just about the entire 7 days we were there. The place is advertised as a 4 star but I do not think they now what a 4 star is. I have traveled quite a bit and know you must compromise for different cultures and expect something different to what you are used to but they do specifically cater for tourists and not locals. We took an all inclusive package and the cocktail was a long list but 90% was not drinkable. They were definitely not made according to standard recipes. The idea of a beach holiday is to relax and enjoy long beach walks. This was near impossible as you get arrased by the locals all the way and they do not take a polite no for an answer.

We can’t recommend the hotel at all. The price is way to high for what you get. The hotel definitely does not deserve 4 stars.
The sun beds at the beach are full of bird poop which would be ok if they were at least cleaned once a day but they were not. The beach towels were really old and had wholes If a bird pooped on it you did not get a new one as you are only allowed one towel a day. Ridiculous!
The food and the service in the hotel is also on a very low standard. During breakfast there was often no water, milk for the coffee and things don’t get filled up if they are empty.
The staff seemed very demotivated. Which is probably understandable as the manager was sitting at the bar at 4pm having drinks with friends.

In the first night we recognized a very loud chewing noise in our room which kept us awake. We found out that this could be termites. We told the reception and they sent someone to check it. They told us they would fix it. When we came back to the room 3 hours later it looked like a construction site. With all our stuff in the room, open bags and our technical equipment they were basically renovating the ceiling. Nobody even bothered to apologize or anything. The second night we could still hear the termites. After complaining again we finally got a new room. Not without termites but at least they were not that loud.
We did talk to the manager twice but he didn’t really listen or even care. The hotel is just managed very badly.
There are a lot of hotels in Nungwi where you pay less and get more for your money.

Half way through a current stay here and fairly disappointed.
The hotel location, beach are and appearance are the few bonuses with this hotel, but the room comfort, food options and hotel entertainment are severely disappointing.

We are in one of the rooms opposite the bar area, which from 10am through to 11pm pumps out very loud, repetitive and bassy music, usually to an empty bar. This makes it very hard to relax during the day as well as sleep at night. I did ask reception to move to a quieter room but this was never responded too.

Secondly the food options are extremely limited. Expect rice, pasta and potato variants for every meal...with fish.

Finally, general entertainment with the hotel is absent. As mentioned the bar within the grounds plays loud music all day, every day and this as far as the hotel's efforts go to entertain its guests.

There are more options a short walk down the beach but the idea of staying at a resort with meals included is to save money rather than seek out other places to spend.

Overall the hotel is fine upon first appearances but after a couple sleepless nights and eating the same food over and over, a more accurate perception of the hotel reveals its disappointments.

The location of this property is lovely and the rooms are adaquate.

The food is quite possibly the worst I've ever seen at a hotel. We booked an all inclusive package, luckily only for a couple of days as we couldn't eat here and had to find nearby restaurants. From the instant coffee (extra charges for a decent cup) to the gruel and burnt egg they served at breakfast, it was uninspiring at best and, given the amount of flies around and the dodgy stomachs two members of our trip got after braving the evening buffet, it was also risky. We live in Africa so know about supply issues and fly problems but the other hotels seem to manage!

A lot of people smoking around the pool and in the communal areas which wasn't nice, especially with young children.

The staff were hardworking and friendly and this place could be amazing....if they were capable of serving a decent meal.

Changed rent in August 2023... Clean rooms.... Washed on the floor every day... Daily change of towels and evening tidying up... No entertainment but top-notch theme evenings under the super vision of Antonio.... For for the excursions we entrusted Sugar directly inside the hotel with competitive prices compared to the main tour operators (10/10 both for excursions and for the availability to help us with various problems.... Super recommended)
Food... Not much choice but everything done well.... Pools and beach at the top... You get used to beach boys.... We are in Africa.... Romantic dinner and top excursions

For me it's an absolute no.
The exterior is beautiful, an extremely well-kept and lush garden. Fabulous beach and very beautiful and suggestive infinity pool where you can watch beautiful sunsets.
The buffet is nothing special but I can understand that.
We can get to the sore points: the rooms!!
Dated and with a very strong musty smell. Mosquito nets on the bed that don't close well. Ruined furniture and moldy and rusty bathroom due to the high humidity and an almost non-existent window. The cleaning ladies are pushy. The first evening at 10pm after a long journey to get there we were asleep and they insistently knocked on the door to ask if we needed cleaning. I think it's not the right time. The next day the same thing happened even though we had put a do not disturb sign on the door. And they enter the room several times a day. While they are cleaning they leave the doors completely open for quite some time so as to let any type of animal into the room
The reception service was inadequate, always on the first day they entered the room after 10 minutes we no longer had electricity. We bent down 3 times and waited a good hour before someone came to fix the problem.

I just don't see why hotels cut corners and ruin the whole experience by doing so. The rooms themselves are nice, the beach it is by is beautiful, the bar has a great vibe and the gardens are really nice.
The pools are a bit grim... They just are not properly maintained and there is no reason as to why... But the main issue as said by many others on here is the food. I just don't see why, but they wont even give you a proper coffee without charging. We were full board which was promised as all food, tea, coffee and soft drinks included. However this is rationed bottles of pepsi and soda, the cheapest instant coffee locally found and the most basic, poorly served, lowest cost buffet style food that can be provided, and why? We paid a high rate for this hotel and it just felt like we were being fleeced. Not sense at all.
