Detailed Reviews
What a lovely place. The people running the place were very very friendly and welcoming. The facilities and rooms were spotless and comfortable. Our room was very warm that there was no need for the heater or warm blankets. We especially loved and appreciated the laundry facilities which included a drying room, great idea! If we are ever down this way again this will definitely be the place to stay again.

Enjoyed our stay here, it's comfortable, very clean and tidy, and well thought out. Definitely one of the nicest and best value places we stayed on our 3 week trip.
There are 12 guest rooms, ours was a good size and had lots of places to put things. Bathrooms are shared, but well equipped, warm, clean, and good showers. Kitchen/dining room is big, well equipped, and very clean; each room has allocated fridge, cupboard and drawer space. There's a big lounge, gardens with tables and chairs, and loungers, a laundry room, and also a hot tub.
It's not right in town, it's a 2km walk, but it was fine to walk in and out along the lake front.
Thoroughly recommended.

Our family of 8 stayed in 2 rooms and we really really enjoyed our stay. The entire lodge is so incredibly clean and tidy. The place was also warm and cosy with clean beds and extra towels. The spa pool was amazing to soak in after a day of skiing.
The kitchen was very well labeled and organized for communal cooking. Can’t rate this place high enough!

Up until the last hour of our 3 night stay we had a truly lovely stay here. It was ruined right at the end by the first interaction we'd had with the owner. We'd checked out of our room but were sitting in the communal garden after we'd already checked out an hour earlier. We got up to go and used the communal bathroom before our long drive ahead. It was at this point thay the owner said in a rude & abrupt manor 'have you paid for another night's stay here? If not, you shouldn't be in here and should have left.' Furthermore, the bag of food we had left in the fridge had been thrown away (presumably to teach us a lesson as we'd not left premesis by 10?) We hate food waste, so was really disappointed with the owners that they couldn't even have left the contents on the 'free food' shelf for others to enjoy. I understand there are check out times, and perhaps we should have double checked that it was OK to sit on a garden chair for an hour, but everywhere else in NZ we've experienced such welcoming and lovely people, who always went above and beyond, we didn't think it would be a problem. Lesson learnt for us, but nether the less, a sour taste at the end of what could have been a perfect stay. A few other points - Rooms were very hot and fan was extremely loud, my partner struggled to sleep. The 2 times we tried to use the hot tub it didn't work. The owners are rarely in the reception, and didn't respond when we called the bell when we arrived. We didn't speak to the owner until the last hour of our 3 night stay.

Hi guys - we are sorry you are feeling let down by us. Check out is 10am - our policy is of the premises....we were only to happy for you to sit in our garden until 11am and we didn't say anything - sorry it doesn't give you right to go into the bathrooms after 11am and brush your teeth. Could this have done earlier. Jeff does apoligise if he sounded rude. Your food was not thrown away - it was transfered to another fridge so I could clean the one in the kitchen - you only had to ask me where it was and you have taken it away. It is still there if you want to come back and get it. Sorry about the spa pool - things do break down from time to time.... We don't live in the reception area. I am sure there would have been a notice up on the office door when you arrived. We can only apoligise and hope the rest of your trip went better. Cheers LYNN

We stayed at Altamont lodge for 5 nights as part of a family show holiday. This lodge is in an excellent location for both Cardrona and Treble Cone, and is well equipped for snow sports with spa, drying room and tuning workshop. The lodge is extremely clean, well organised and the people were lovely. Value for money it is hard to beat. We will definitely be back next year.

What a treat it was to stay at this wonderful lodge for five nights over Easter. It more than met our expectations. The hosts were most welcoming and friendly. The rooms were warm and spacious, and the shared facilities spotlessly maintained, with kitchen well-labelled, providing everything one needed to store one’s food and cook a meal. The shared bathrooms too were sparkling, with face clothes provided, along with towels, soap and hairdryer. The surrounding grounds were beautiful, with the bonus of a hot tub. We were there for Warbirds over Wanaka and found the lodge to be nice and central to the town centre and lake and a few minutes drive to the airfield. We highly recommend it. Thanks to the hard-working hosts!

The custodian obviously takes great pride in their work as the place is spotless and superbly maintained.
The building has the feel of an 80's ski lodge but that's not a negtive thing as it feels really welcoming. The comprehensive and clean shared kitchen and lounges add to the experience. Bed was comfortable and very clean, facilities are perfect, location is great.
Highly recommended.

We were a family of 4 and although the room was very small it was very clean and comfortable. The facility was also very clean and had everything we needed. It can be a little noisy but thats to be expected when you are staying in a hostel type situation. Only real issue for us was how hot the room was, the fan was too noisy to leave on while we were sleeping but to be fair the rooms are quite small so an air conditioner would probably be to much! Definitely not a complaint tho as not really sure how it could be rectified. Thx for your hospitality

Yes is is like a Hostel with a very pleasant shared kitchen and lounge. The shared bathrooms are spotlessly clean. You would need to check re the bedrooms as typically there is a double bed and two bunks. It could be a bit cramped with 3 teens plus luggage.
