Detailed Reviews
This was our second stay at these apartments. As our Erie version the first time wasn’t bad we decided to return. We had arrived late, but still on time to check in before 6:30. We were told the keys were in the apartment and milk 8n 5he fridge as 5hey thought we might not make it in time. The heat pump was left on to give us a warm reception, and 5he bonus was that we were upgraded from a one bedroom to a three bedroom. Though we didn5 need the extra rooms it was nice to have the two bathrooms. Housekeeping was kept to a minimum of just replenishing items and emptying out bins, which was all we needed. However a couple of days the bathroom items seemed to be missed. Luckily with the two bathrooms I got the items from the other bathroom. The place was immaculate, very modern, and amazing views of the mountains from a lovely balcony. Reception were ultra friendly and very informative. The WiFi wasn’t the greatest, but we managed. It is a little away to the lake but still close enough. We thank the Distinction for an amazing stay for a very reasonable price.

We stayed here in December and really enjoyed our stay. We arrived prior to the official check-in time, but the staff kindly accommodated us and allowed us to check in early, which was a lovely surprise.
Our apartment was spacious, very comfortable, and had a lovely view of the mountains. We never did figure out the heating/air conditioning, but luckily the outside weather was moderate on the days we were there. The washer/dryer was super convenient and helpful, and the overall layout of the unit was great.
We were also directly adjacent to one of the swimming pools, which meant that we could hear everything at the pool. It was okay during the day, but became annoying in the evening when a group of young adults took over the area. Otherwise, the two pools (heated!) were great and our children loved swimming in them.
We would definitely recommend this hotel, either during ski season or summer season.

Visited and stayed two nights. Check in very simple, and friendly desk staff. The appartment was a good size, with plenty of outside space. Plenty of kitchen ware, plus salt, paper, dishwasher soap, washing powder etc.
Nice communal pools and jacuzzi. Good location for getting into town by foot.
Overall a very good place to stay.

We stayed here for two nights. Upon arrival the apartment was very tired and not very clean. I called the reception and asked them to vaccum the floor as there was still crumbs in the kitchen and hair on the carpet from previous guests. They dealt to it straight away but it is a basic assumption that the apartment is vaccumed before your arrival. We went to use face cloths and bath towels and found previous guests hair all over it. I called reception again and asked them to replace the towels in the room which they did. Upon checkout I was asked how our stay was and told her what had happened, she apologised but gave the excuse that they were under the pump with cleaning, and she could assure me the towels were clean but the reason other peoples hairs were on it was due to increasing the heat on the dryers to speed up drying time. This is all and well but when you are paying $325 a night you expect a certain standard of cleaning, and no form of compensation was offered. If you can't maintain very basic cleaning standards then lower your rate so people lower their expectations, and change the name of the resort as the accomodation doesn't live up to the name. Wouldn't stay again.

A lovely spacious unit located away from the hustle and bustle of central Wanaka, but still handy enough to walk into town. It comes fully equipped with kitchen and laundry appliances meaning that you can be independent as you like. Also great having an internal access garage.
Would prefer that the curtains were darker and that the wifi was more stable - minor "first-world" problems.
Will definitely stay here again.

We assume that the resort title refers to the pools, spa pools and games rooms. The whole place reminded us of that British TV series “Hi Dee Hi Campers”
This whole facility is pretty tired and dated. Maybe Distinction has a plan to do a makeover, but this hasn’t happened yet. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ground floor apartment with an attached small garage. A tight squeeze for a mid-sized car.
Cleaning was pretty bad. The dishwasher and oven were particularly dirty. We had to ask for a can of fly spray to chase out the flies. The reception staff suggested they might be caused by cooking or leaving the front sliding doors open. Duh…at this stage we hadn’t done any cooking and aren’t sliding doors designed to be opened? There was after all, a table and chairs on the patio out front.
Our apartment was near the pool/hot tub and we noticed a couple of occasions where the local teenagers walked in from an adjacent walkway and helped themselves to the facilities.
It was very quiet during our stay - so no excuses for poor housekeeping.
Wifi, although free, was pretty slow and the TV was a 1970s model.

Great well priced accomodation really handy to town. Rooms are great and the benefit of having an internal garage with remote control to keep you car and valuables all locked up. The pool wasn’t opened but there was a spa on hand
Great service at reception too

I'm afraid this was a disappointing stay for us. Outdated and not looking like the pictures. I guess we got an old apartment that had not been updated. It was also by a busy road so noisy. We asked to be moved but was refused as they said they were full. The manager was not around when we arrived so the following day We were offered a refund to Check out and find somewhere else but that was a bit late!!
It was clean, pools were not and need improved servicing. 30 min walk to town

We stayed here for two nights in December 2023.
Our unit (three bedrooms) was simply huge. A family could live here. It has everything that you would ever need. The kitchen was well equipped, there was a washing machine and dryer for clothes etc.
The hotel is located about a 3-minute drive from central Wanaka and a 20-minute walk along a nice walking track.
The only reason for which I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the main living area got very hot in the afternoon (on a summer day, 20 degrees Celsius). There was no air conditioning, so the room was unbearably hot. The bedrooms that face the other side were much cooler. Then, the next morning, the bedrooms got extremely hot right from early morning and there was no way to cool them down, while the main living area was at a comfortable temperature. The unit could benefit from something to control the temperature. Other than that and maybe the fact that the TV had limited channels and reception cut out a bit, this is a very good place to stay.

The Distinction Wanaka is a great place for a family to stay. We had a 3 bedroom apartment with ensuite and seperate bathroom, full laundry and kitchen. We loved the pools and spas! The view from our deck was amazing.
The apartment was modern but a bit tired and in need of maintanence, with quite a few marks and dings in the walls.
The blinds in the bedrooms look modern and new but let the light in in the morning so made for early wake ups!
The cleanliness wasn't up to standard - especially in the bathrooms - and the fabric placemats and coasters provided were covered in food so we didn't use them.
Overall a great place to stay though with beautiful scenery, spacious apartment, pools and spas in a great location.
