Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had read some mixed reviews before our stay, however we enjoyed the resort and liked the fact it was a little way out from Wanaka. We stayed in Room 8 - on the first floor with a lovely view. The room was an average size hotel room with a lovely balcony. There are larger self catering apartments available. We were told that the room was not serviced daily, when we checked in day & also told that if we required it to be serviced or needed more towels etc we just needed to ask at reception. We were there for 3 nights & happy to make our own bed. We didn’t use the pool area or the restaurant (closed Sunday & Monday) . We did use the gym facilities - very well equipped training room - machines & free weights. There was also a cardio room, with cross trainer, bikes etc which we didn’t use. Staff really helpful and friendly.

Nice enough resort but please be aware that restaurant and bar shut 2 nights a week and 3 km from town. Also website advertises daily services to rooms but stayed 3 nights and told at reception this has not been the case for over 1 year! This means no fresh towels, rubbish removed or tea/coffee replenished.

This place is highly overrated. Room was 4m square. Yes I measured it. Booked as a couple. Got single beds! Poorly equipped. Glasses dirty. Crockery was mismatched, like it was from the opp shop. No tissues- a basic item really! Three kms out of town. Restaurant was expensive. Wine/ bottle, ridiculous. Won't stay here again!

The good is to have a washer and dryer in your hotel room. The kitchen was nice if you plan to cook and the room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast buffet in the morning was very limited and the food was not not very good. When they state there are 9 pools they mean 1 swimming pool, 1 very cold lap pool and the rest are hot tubs. The big negative is that you cannot walk into the town of Wānaka. You will need to drive or take a taxi there. This is where you want to stay so you can enjoy all the nice restaurants, bike rentals, walks/hikes, shopping, etc. The weight and cardio rooms are pretty good size with nice equipment. Overall it was average but I would prefer to stay near the lake.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent stay at our hotel. We appreciate your feedback and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the laundry and kitchen facilities within the room. Also thank you for your positive comments relating to our gym facilities. We apologize for any disappointment regarding the breakfast buffet and the limited food options. Your feedback on this matter is valuable to us, and we will certainly review and improve upon the offerings to enhance our guests' experience. We understand your concern about the distance to Wānaka town, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused. One night stay on the way to Queensland. Stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was very nice and well equipped with lounge, kitchen, washer and tumble dryer. Bed was comfortable and bathroom a reasonable size but just note if you’re over 4”6” you’ll struggle with the shower height it’s so low . Kitchen was closed so cannot comment. We stayed at the end of the building adjacent to the Cardona Road and I would suggest requesting a room away from the road it’s noisy until 2300 and after 0400. Also ask for a second floor room as we were on the ground and the noise from above was easily heard.

We stayed here for one night on our way down to Queenstown. The hotel had very good apartment-style rooms with a full hob, oven, microwave and small dishwasher. The added bonus was the washing machine and tumble dryer in the bathroom which saved us looking for a laundry service in Queenstown. Small packets of washing and dishwasher powder were provided, which was helpful. Slight negatives are that we believed it was a 2pm check in and arrived shortly before that and discovered it was 3pm check in and 10am checkout - not sure if that was our travel agent’s or their error. - the booking confirmation clearly said 2pm. There also weren’t any drain plugs for the basin or large bath. Worth noting that it’s very much on the edge of town, so a fair walk in - we ate at the nearby Stoacker Room and had a good meal, so it wasn’t an issue, but the next morning we spent some time around the very neat (compliments to the local council) lakeside/park area in town which has several bars and restaurants and realised we’d slightly missed out. Has a reasonable gym and weights room and pools (some were covered up).

Clean room with a nice bathroom. Room was pretty small and not as luxurious as I expected from the spa hotel vibe. Didn't like the lack of headboard on the bed. Think we were a bit off season as a couple of the pools were closed and no pool towels were provided. I was a bit disappointed by the pool area, the sauna was very small, changing rooms not particularly nice. The hot tubs were too cold. The staff were very nice and helpful though, booked us a taxi for one day. Checkin/out was easy and quick.

Dear 573pippah, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you found our room clean and appreciated the quality of our bathroom. However, we regret to learn that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We genuinely apologize for the size of the room not meeting the luxurious standards you anticipated. Your feedback about the absence of a headboard on the bed is duly noted, and we'll explore ways to enhance the room amenities for a more comfortable stay. We're grateful for your kind acknowledgment of our staff's friendliness and helpfulness and will ensure to pass these on. Your feedback about the sauna, changing rooms, and the temperature of the hot tubs is invaluable to us. Please note additional pool towels ae provided from your room and also on request from reception. Rest assured, we'll thoroughly investigate these concerns and take necessary measures to improve our facilities. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a much-improved stay that aligns with your expectations.

We stayed here for just one night having left the dreadful accommodation in Haast that we were booked into. It was a lucky find as we had a large suite complete with lounge, dining area, kitchenette and washing machine & tumble drier neatly tucked into the bathroom. Although quite a big resort our rooms were quiet. There are plenty of facilities on site, but we didn't use any of them so cannot comment.

I last reviewed this resort in March 2020, and we still love it as we like to spend a week in Wanaka each year. Unfortunately, the wifi is still as poor as it was back then despite a reply from JacobW stating that it was being sorted. It should not be necessary to stand in the corner of the lounge to get a decent reception. Anywhere else in the unit is very hit-and-miss! This time the pain was enhanced by virtue of the fact that we could only get Aljazeera on two of the TVs. The 're-tune option was unavailable, so it must be centrally controlled. These two things alone spoil the whole experience of what should be a top-notch resort!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at the resort. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the poor wifi reception and the limited availability on the TVs. We understand how frustrating it can be to experience poor wifi reception, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in fixing it. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused significant disruptions in the supply chain, including the availability of necessary equipment and technicians. However, we appreciate your patience and understanding, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Regarding the availability of Aljazeera, we understand your frustration and will take your feedback on board and consider adding this channel. We value your loyalty to our resort and are grateful for your continued patronage. We hope that you will give us another opportunity to provide you with the top-notch experience that you deserve. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further concerns or feedback.
