I was lucky enough to spend 4 amazing nights at the Homestead with great friends. The accommodation was cosy, warm (as it was winter), room was spotless, lovely bathrobes with locally sourced shower product, everything which was needed for a relaxing stay. The location is walking distance to town along the stunning lake via the park. I enjoyed a couple of evening rides as the sun was setting... stunning. The Homestead has a perfectly located "Spa" which was well used over the 4 days. Sadly we ran out of time to enjoy the outdoor fireplace and BBQ (perhaps next time). Huge thanks to Kaaleen, Karen and Allan for making our trip so very special. Sorry forgot to mention the yummy breakfast with homemade scones and Ginger Gems!

Our room was well appointed, the bed comfortabel and the bathroom with walk in shower all immaculatlely clean. There was outside and inside space to have a tea or coffee, which you made yourself. A laundry was also available. Tania welcomed us on arrival and gave us advice about the local restaurants.

My wife and I spent two nights at Wanaka Homestead and wish it could have been a couple nights more. We booked the Lismore Cottage, which was far more than we needed (3BR, 2BA) but talk about comfortable! It was downright lavish, and well priced for all we got. Location is super convenient to the lake, with a nice walk through a beautiful tree and flower-filled park, just 15 minutes walk from the town center. Bedding and furnishings were outstanding. Our host, Allan, was absolutely terrific - welcoming, engaging, with great stories to tell and spot-on tips for dining and entertainment in town. Highly recommend Allan's restaurant, Francesca's Italian Kitchen, and Pembroke Wine & Spirits, which he recommended, the latter looking like a bottle shop but featuring amazing cheese and charcuterie boards and terrific wine, beer and gin tastings. Highly recommend Wanaka Homestead as the perfect Wanaka home base!

We were booked to stay at Wanaka Homestead Lodge and Cottages for three nights in early July. Unfortunately the day before our stay, my husband tested positive for Covid and we were forced to cancel our stay. I phoned and spoke to Alan. I asked him about his cancellation policy and he said he would call me back later that day. I acknowledged that I expected to pay a portion of the stay during our phone call.
When my Visa account came through we had been charged for 3 nights less $30, a total of $1170. I phoned to discuss this with Alan and was told he would call me back. This did not happen. I have also sent two emails asking Alan to contact me to discuss the charge. Both were unanswered.
I appreciate Covid is a very difficult time for those in hospitality but to completely ignore my attempts at communication is extremely rude and not unacceptable in my view.

This homestead is truly a luxurious and peaceful home away from home. I was in desperate need of a restorative holiday and stayed here for a week solo – I couldn’t have found a more perfect place to relax.
The service from hosts Allan and Kaalene was wonderful. They are so welcoming, kind and genuine. They are passionate about Wanaka and the surrounding areas and give great recommendations for walks, bike rides, day trips, photography spots, local eats and day spas. They simply care for you, as much as you want to be cared for - the perfect amount of chatting and laughing as well as leaving you to rest and relax and go about your day.
I spent the evenings snuggled up on the lounge sofa with a wine, next to the fire, either reading, watching movies or listening to my music playlist via Bluetooth on the surround sound speakers. If you’re lucky (and are so-inclined), you might get a cuddle from their gorgeous, gentle wee dog, Bonnie.
My room was beautifully furnished, with soft throws and luxurious pillows – so much better than a hotel room! A clean, comfy bed with soft cotton sheets and a TV with Netflix. I had a sliver view of Wanaka lake out my bedroom window, only obscured by beautiful weeping willows and immaculately kept grounds. The room also had it’s own heat pump and small fridge – both incredibly whisper quiet!
The breakfast included was beautifully spread, with fresh baking by Kaalene each morning (who also won a local baking competition) and the best eggs cooked to your liking by Allan. All of this consumed using silverware and fine china, I might add.
And the hot tub! Perfect on a cool evening under the stars – privately situated and with low lighting for minimal light pollution.
It ended with a wine and a hug. Truly, this is the perfect place to unwind and rest, or base yourself for your Central Otago adventures. Covid-schmovid. Just get there!

Thank you so very much for coming to stay with us here at the Homestead, Hayley. We hope you truly did feel at home and cared for. We knew from talking with you that as an Essential Worker you have given much to others, and continue to do so - so it was absolutely our pleasure to care for you. You deserve it. We aim to create a space where you can truly relax and unwind, if you so choose - and we feel that that level of self-care is even more important than ever in this current climate. We sincerely hope you find your way back some day, Hayley - and we will look forward to a 'proper hug hello' again when you do... Until next time... Stay well new friend. The door is always open...

We booked out the lodge for an extended family weekend holiday. This is the second time we’ve stayed and it was as perfect as the first. We were several adults, 3 young children and a newborn baby.
The lodge itself is beautiful and each bedroom and bathroom is perfectly setup and styled. The communal lounge space also lovely with a fire and large dining table.
Kaalene and Allan are exceptional hosts, nothing is a bother and they make the absolute best breakfasts.
The homestead is positioned a stones throw from the lake and a lovely 15-20 min walk into town (if that).
Highly recommend the Wanaka Homestead, you won’t be disappointed

My husband and I stayed at Wanaka Homestead Lodge and Cottages from 17-19 March in a king room with ensuite within the lodge. The lodge in a great location; it is a 15 minute walk (or 3 minute drive) from the centre of Wanaka and a 5 minute walk from THAT Wanaka tree. The timber lodge itself is beautiful, nestled amongst a spacious garden where you can relax. Our room was large, bright, comfortable and clean with views over the central garden. We enjoyed our cooked breakfast each morning and the complimentary laundry facilities. We loved using the lodge’s bicycles to explore around Lake Wanaka. The owners Allan & Kaalene were very lovely and accommodating and made our stay enjoyable. Highly recommended. We will be back.

My extended family (19 people) occupied the entire homestead and cottages. We all really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were cosy and quiet. The breakfast each day was delicious and the beds were made each day and rooms tidied. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Definitely will stay here again.

We booked two nights at this b&b on a trip through New Zealand. The facilities were good, the venue located near the Station park, the lake and walking distance from the center (15-20 min walk). Appreciated the guest laundry facilities and the hot tub.
However…… although we booked for a b&b (through agency) we only received bed. Sadly upon arrival, and only after I asked, the host informed us he would not provide breakfast due to too much work with other jobs. Huh??!! We didn’t discuss this further since it would end up in an awkward situation for the rest of the stay, however apparently we as guests were considerate about that etiquette but the host was clearly not ashamed to deliver the message.
The rest of the stay also, apart from hints and tips on things to do and where to eat, not much else was delivered - one pincher of water in the common section, tea and coffee making was possible - nothing in the fridge complimentary nor paying. Big difference with other b&b who did provide breakfast and some welcome drink or at least fresh water in the room. So I can’t provide a higher score since the lack of one main part of our booking was failed to deliver and it costed us time and money to have to take food elsewhere. Big miss and not pleasant surprise when on holiday.

Such a shame your agent did not inform you that we have not provided breakfast in the last 2 years due to staffing shortages - plain and simple - its says it on every booking platform - we suggest you take that up with you agent as they may have charged you for it...? Yes - our life is busy with other work as we are trying to make ends meet and we both have other jobs to do so. Clearly you lack the compassion and understanding of just how challenging Covid has been on small business over the last few years. We are hopeful we may be able to provide breakfast again in the future should some staff magically appear moving forward... in the meantime, we hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and all adventures you are lucky enough to partake in.

Very special place. Setting offers privacy, postcard perfect views of mountains and lake, Accommodation was impressive, room spacious, modern and stylish.
