We had a great stay at Tin Tub Luxury Lodge and we would highly recommend it to everyone. We stayed 4 nights and we had an amazing time! If you are looking for a luxury, calm and lovely accommodation, a stunning view at the mountains and the lake, stargazing at a cozy tin tub, new zealands best breakfast and two lovely hosts - there you go!

A Luxury Lodge with 3 spaciously designed rooms with separate bathroom. Cathedral height ceilings and one wall of windows overlooking Lake Wanaka plus a coupe more suites. Plenty of parking and lots of facilities make this a great place to stay - even has two bathtubs outside so that you can soak and contemplate the stars! The hosts are very interesting people and the breakfasts are just the way you want it - whatever that is. One of the highlight locations we stayed at during our tour.

Great service from the owner who was very welcoming and attentive to al our needs. Very large comfortable ground floor room with large with chairs and a table open to the garden. The room and patio had a superb view as the Lodge is situated on the top of a ridge. Excellent breakfasts with a good choice of cooked courses and excellent coffee!

We had a really lovely stay here. Bad welcomed us when we arrived and showed us our lodge which was beautiful. We had a great view over the lake, our own terrace and two slipper baths outside which were fun. The indoor bathroom was also fab with a jacuzzi bath filled by a tap from the ceiling, a big shower and double sinks. The food was excellent all prepared by Chris. Homemade cookies, jams, kefir, granola, honey from a neighbour, it was lovely. We would recommend a stay here, you won’t regret it.

Booked for the tranquility and pool, but pool closed for repair and the bipping Caterpillar excavators next door from 8am to 5pm broke the peace. After 5pm this place is Utopia, both inside and outside in the bath tubs overlooking Lake Waneka. The owners, are excentric and passionate, but in terms of information and the unique homemade breakfast accompanied by the Benjamin the Cat....25 min walking distance from down town, so no need for car, so u can enjoy a glass of local brew and wine.......and lamb naturally. There are must does in Waneke, but Barry will tell you. We were 3 persons, but worked fine the luxury room, with jacuzzi, mostly enjoyed by the our child of 13. Free laundry always a great help. Perfect place for rest, view and chill, so if you are busy during the day, the construction wont bother you. February 2023.

We stayed at the Tin Tub Lodge for a couple of nights, which was fabulous. You can stay in of the rooms or separate self contained lodges. We stayed in a room, which was perfect for our needs. We even had use of the garage for our car. Baz and Trish were great hosts. Very friendly and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. They asked us what we were interested in doing and were able to give us great local advice on everything from walking tracks and local wineries to the best restaurants to eat at. We will definitely stay here again.

Barry and Trish are fabulous hosts; being both welcoming and very helpful. Our peak view room was lovely, having beautiful views from two aspects, and a balcony. We knew that we had booked a peak view room and not a lodge, and were very pleased with the accommodation. The breakfast was outstanding and Trish’s homemade muffins were the best.

We stayed in a room over the garage which was comfortable but having seen the luxury lodges weren't quite sure why our budget had not secured one of them. However, the breakfast was very good and the homemade cookies in the room, to die for. A fair walk into the heart of Wanaka but overall a very pleasant stay.

The pictures and reviews shown on trip advisor all refer to the three luxury lodges. We weren't in those., We had a Peak View Room, which was effectively a room over a garage without a view! The room looked like it need a bit of a refurbishment. Certainly not the luxury I was expecting. When we arrived, it took 10 minutes to even find anyone, then Trish said "This is your room, Bazza is busy, he'll come and explain things in a bit" Not a warm welcome at all! The thing that troubled us the most was no air con, and the room was absolutely baking hot. The fan provided did not cool the room down. Therefore, we could not sleep well due to the temperature. We mentioned this to Bazza, and it was at breakfast and the couple in the other "over garage" room said the same thing. He jusat said it was too expensive and anyway it only gets hot now and then! Not really a focus on customer comfort then. Breakfast was OK, but not great. This was worst place we stayed - and we stayed in 16 places over our holiday. Definitely a mistake by our travel company to put us there and we have told them so. Very disappointed. Be warned.

Important information for anybody thinking of booking this accommodation . The pictures and glowing reviews shown on trip advisor all refer to the three luxury lodges , there are two other rooms called Peak View Rooms. In fact they are a couple of rooms over a double garage, the main view being into the luxury home of Baz and Trish and of the 3 luxury lodges. Inside the garage rooms there is a couple of small beds, the bathroom and very little else. There is no window for ventilation, no tv, no a/c but more importantly in my opinion, in the event of a fire they are not safe. Access to these garage rooms is via an open up and over garage door then a staircase with a hand door into the room which is not a fire. There is no smoke alarm or fire extinguisher. In the event of a fire, if Baz or anybody else closed the garage door you would be trapped in the room like a rat in a trap. Our agent in the UK had been influenced by the luxurious description of Tin Tub Lodges boasting access to a swimming pool, hot tubs, sauna, slipper baths, gym etc but all of these facilities are available for the high end luxury lodges and not the garage rooms. When we arrived for our 2 night stay I was somewhat surprised to be offered what I can only describe as backpacker accommodation over the garage. If you are unfortunate enough to stay in one don’t expect a warm welcome from Baz and Trish. They will treat you like Steerage on the Titanic- they want the high rollers- in fact a Trish was extremely rude and didn’t acknowledge us at all only with some kind of “grunt”. Baz said we could watch the tv in the guest lounge but the door will be locked at 9pm so don’t expect to watch News at 10! By the way should you happen to have any disagreement with your Friendly host Baz you cxx as n expect him to come hammering on your bedroom door late at night like a madman which was very scary. We felt so intimidated we didn’t sleep all night! In 40 years of travelling to over 40 countries my wife and I have never felt so unwelcome so we left after 1 night without breakfast. Baz did not even have the courtesy to meet us on the drive as we left to see if the awful situation could have any resolution. We stayed in 19 different B&B, lodges and hotels in NZ and this was the worst experience ever - be warned!
