Just as good as the photos....lovely place to stay looking out over the lake! Location is perfect for walking to town and the smorgasbord of restaurants, bars and cafes available but your motel kitchen is well set up too.....perfect for whipping up a meal if you have the time. The larger sized freezer of the room frig was good for transporting our foods for the onward Glenorchy part of our trip. Great wifi, the bed was extremely comfortable bed and the shower was good as well. Pip was welcoming and helpful....highly recommend you stay here😊

Great place to stay, the unit had everything we needed including an ample kitchenette which had a full oven with 4 element hob and a good amount of worktop for preparing food. The shower had great pressure. The unit was very clean and it’s in a great location only a minutes walk to the shops and restaurants. Located directly across from a large grassed reserve with skate park which our children could walk across to by themselves and across the reserve was the lake. Pip the owner was lovely and was happy to provide ideas for activities in the local area. Would happily stay there again.

We loved our stay at the Wanaka View Motel. The rooms were very clean and updated, filled with everything we needed for our stay. We had a great view of the lake and were close enough to walk to everything we needed! There is a washer/dryer onsite, we were able to use the washer and then hang dry our clothes outside to dry, it was perfect. The owner was beyond kind, she helped us navigate the town and work out how to get to places since we didn't have a car. We definitely want to stay here again if we make it back to New Zealand!

Studio room is comfortable, fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle, some utensils. Comfortable bed. Good shower/water pressure. No on-site parking for the studio room. Good free wifi rated secure by Norton. Only 2 NZ tv channels. A small wardrobe and a couple of hooks for clothes and towels in the bathroom would be welcome as would a plastic bin liner. Pleasant lady proprietor.

Whilst this is called Wanaka lake view, we were very disappointed to find our room was tucked away at the back with two narrow windows looking out onto a hedge close to them. It was very dark in the room and actually tricky to even know what the weather was doing outside!
It appears that it is only room at the motel that is unfortunate in its position. The others all have big windows and more spacious. It’s easy to book as we did thinking we were in one of the front facing apartments. Unclear on website.
The accommodation it’s self was sufficient ( though a tiny bathroom sink to wash any kitchen things in )
Staff were friendly and helpful. Location of actual motel was perfect. But being so near the beautiful lake and yet stuck into a very dark room was very frustrating. No where to sit outside the room either. I’m sure it’s cheaper than the other rooms, but really many more motels with 2 bed rooms with a much more pleasant outlook.
Wish I’d read the reviews about the studio room before hand as others warn of finding the same problem.
Wanaka itself very beautiful and the whole area well worth. Visit.

Dear Virginia, The studio is described as 'studio, basement, no view'. It is appropriately priced. There is no kitchen as it is a studio, but as a courtesy for the budget traveller we provide some basic eating equipment. The view is of a Garden and one of Wanaka Metalworks lovely sculptures. I do not believe there are any other motels with the unique view/proximity to Wanaka township that we have. It is a shame to give a bad review when you booked the wrong part of the property.

What a treat, this lovely owner-operated motel. The Studio Room was perfect for our little couple's getaway. Spacious, private and comfortable with nice attention to guest needs and fantastic sleeps into the bargain! Just a leisurely stroll to the downtown cafes and Lake Wanaka, location is top notch. Host Pip was super friendly and gave good advice on hiking trails, nearby eateries and the best spots for morning caffeine emergencies. Thanks Pip, we'll see you again!

Loved this place as we were lucky to have one of the the front rooms facing the lake. It was very warm when we were there so the blinds were down during the day but once the sun went down, the view was lovely. Air con was great, The room was large with a separate bedroom, lounge/kitchen with new carpet and separate bathroom and toilet. Heavenly.
The location is fantastic with a 5 min walk to the Main Street. We appreciated the use of the camping chairs to take to the lake front later in the afternoon. There is so much to like about this motel. 5 stars.

Exceptional service! We originally booked a studio, which didn’t have a view as expected, but the lovely owner upgraded us to a larger room with stunning views. We could look out across the park to the beautiful Lake Wanaka. The motel’s location is perfect—just a short walk to the town center.
Pip, the owner, gave us fantastic local tips on places to explore, including a drive to the Blue Pools and a hike up Mt. Iron, both of which were incredible. She also recommended dining at Hook, which we absolutely loved!
Thanks so much, Pip! We can’t wait to come back next year.

Great location, walking distance to restaurants and bars in Wanaka. Cabins aren't huge but well priced and with a large drying room for your snow gear.
Pip was a lovely host and lended us card games when the mountain was closed, gave us tips for local restaurants and umbrellas when it rained.

Very good place to stay - clean, well maintained property and spacious room, reasonably priced; comfortable and quiet, would stay here again.
Please note that this place offers different types of rooms - we spent the night in the basement suite, which does not have 'a view', or a kitchenette, but this is clearly highlighted when booking (on room selection). If any of these items is important for you, make sure you book one of the more expensive apartment-style rooms above.
A guest laundry is available.

You can see the lake from the rooms. A big park sits between the apartments and the lake front. Probably a 500m walk from door to shore :)
