Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Mount Maude Country Lodge is a restful lodge in a peaceful setting. Lots of greenery and song birds. The hoast is friendly and the breakfast is quite good. The guest rooms are quite relaxing especially after the energy of Queenstown. Highly recommended.

We had a very peaceful two night stay at the Mt Maude Country Lodge. It's located about 15 minutes from town on a farm with cows, sheep, plenty of rabbits, and a very friendly dog. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was filling. The breakfast is self service and there are many choices. There's a shared fridge/toaster/coffee machine for the guests to use. A fan is provided in case it's warm out.

This place is amazing. Beautiful, peaceful and warm, also very kind hosts. We enjoyed our stay very much and would encourage anyone that wants to get away from the hustle of Wanaka to stay here since it is only a short 15 minute drive to town. Thanks again for all the kind hospitality.

It is kind of long way from town and there are no nearby food places, except perhaps one. There is nothing snazzy about rooms and actually you could not lock from inside. No microwave or fridge or TV in room. Breakfast is sort of self help continental breakfast. There are no great views or anything in particular that you compel you to find a place this far from town.

Response from WanakaMaude, Owner at Mount Maude Country Lodge

Dear Dr Rajpura, thank you for your review. While we are only 10 minutes from Wanaka respectfully I do think it may have been better for you to have booked a motel in Wanaka township as it seems you were after an urban experience. The name of our accommodation is Mount Maude Country Lodge and most people book accommodation here for the peaceful rural atmosphere and in fact highlight the views and scenery. You would be the first person in all our years here who has not appreciated the rural and mountain views. Perhaps you had the curtains pulled or there was low cloud. We do advertise the breakfast as continental self help so you are correct there, we provide what we advertise. As indicated to you on arrival there is a tv and fridge in the guest lounge which was next to your room. I am sorry you found nothing exceptional about your one night stay although I do have to say your opinion is contrary to the many, many guests who greatly enjoy their stay, and particularly enjoy the rural and mountain views. A recent guest described it as 'heaven on earth'. We tend to agree. Perhaps I will leave the last word to a family who stayed the same time as you did 'We really loved this beautiful place. What an amazing environment, the animals and the night sky. It was the most unforgettable BnB we have ever stayed in.' So Dr Rajpura, it is a matter of perception and while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, it is not what most of our guests experience. Kind regards Dr John Cossens

Within about 10 to 15 minutes you can reach Wanaka for all the offered activities. To relax and enjoy your freetime, just sit on the patio of your room and enjoy the silence and the view. You can walk across the meadows of the farm and watch sheeps and rabbits. The time we stayed, John, the host, had a small lamb which must be fed by hand. The rooms are large and cofortable, the breakfast is served in a big guestroom and offers all you need.

Only spent a night in the Mount Maude Country Lodge and we loved it. The place is just 15 min from Wanaka and looks stunning, with plenty of land around it. Owners are lovely (and so is their sweet dog) and we felt really welcome in the lodge. If you are concerned about getting to town in the evening, it’s convenient to just call a taxi!

Stayed here for 2 nights in December on our honeymoon. This is a great guest house and I would strongly recommend staying here. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The scenery is beautiful and is an ideal base to explore Wanaka from. Stand out memory for me is relaxing with a glass of wine in the garden outside our room, in the evening after hiking Roys Peak! The whole family (including their dog!) are very welcoming and the room was very comfortable!

Mount Maude Lodge was a welcome escape. You're out of the busy tourist hubs but still close enough to both Wanaka and Lake Hawea to drive in for dinners etc. John, Trish, and Ollie were welcoming and helpful and Gem, their friendly dog, was great to cuddle The rooms were beautiful and the breakfasts delicious. Thanking you all for a lovely stay. (particularly Gem)
