We stayed at Manu Whenua for 4 nights during a 17 day New Zealand trip and it is just the most beautiful lodge. The set up with the communal kitchen makes you feel right at home - just way better. Food is absolutely outstanding, as is the setting for dinner, which you can have wherever you like. We (two friends) stayed at one of the three cottages, which was lovely, but would recommend one of the 2 suites as the bathrooms are bigger there. There is a beautiful stable on the property and the woman running it (so sorry, I forgot the name) is so very professional - she truly cares about her horses as well as about the well-being of the riders, putting their safety first while providing an amazing experience. Do not miss out on this!!!! There are lots of things to be done in the area and on the property - we went kayaking with a guide and had the most amazing heli day, plus went for two horseback rides. The lodge also provides tours and free ebikes, which we would have loved to take advantage of but time was just too short. We truly wished we could have stayed longer! The staff is so so nice - it is actually difficult to put in words, it is just a very welcoming atmosphere and I could have spent weeks there!!!!!!!

Maui Ehenua is an absolutely gorgeous, 5* executive estate retreat located on a mountaintop with breathtaking views to the horizon. Originally built by Shania Twain and her ex-husband, this slice of Shangri La was designed and built by and for her as a country estate in New Zealand. The home is large, excellently appointed and very comfy. The food and service are first rate and I highly recommend it. It was an ideal locale to finish our 3 weeks in NZ.

We have stayed in many hotels, inns and lodges around the world, but never a place that bests Mahu Whenua for comfort, beauty and service. This property is stunning in every regard. The venue sits on tens of thousands of untouched acres, a condition that will remain in place as more than 90% of the land has been reported to be protected by covenants making it the largest conservation undertaking on private land in New Zealand’s history. There are but four suites at Mahu Whenua, and your stay includes meals and access to many available activities (horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, yoga, spa services, cooking classes, heli skiing, etc.). Give thought before your visit as to desired interests as there is really little need for leaving the property for the duration of your stay. The food preparation, presentation and imagination are not lacking by any definition. Your meals are available per your personal schedule. We enjoyed a great deal of flexibility in this regard and enthusiastically dined with and made the acquaintance of other guests. The wine list is far more than adequate. MW is not easy to find and the route is not littered by unsightly signs. Program your GPS. Make your reservations well in advance, give thought as to how you would ideally spend your time at MW, and communicate the detail to the willing and able staff. This was a visit to remember.
