What a wonderful spot... Greeted with a welcoming note pinned to the door and a large friendly cat... And what a great little place - not that little actually! John came and gave us some info and then we had excellent privacy. Very easy to drive into town from here. All in all an excellent spot and the hayloft itself is beautiful. One thing we noticed was that it was very windy (I mean REALLY windy) - which made a bit of noise. But it didn't spoil a beautiful place (oh and the bed was VERY comfortable- hard to get out of it in the morning!
Wanaka is an excellent base all year round for skiing, hiking and adventure activities in the area. The Haylof is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the many options that the area offers - just make sure you book long enough as it is hard to leave. Self contained and private, with a lovely views and generous and gracious hosts, the Hayloft has a country feel yet is close to the action. As a guide, John is knowledgeable about the area and can recommend activities and tracks. This is our third visit and know there will be more.
This was a truly lovely and peaceful location but still not far from the Lake. The apartment is upstairs with its own entrance and has a separate lounge with balcony, (fab views out to mountains) kitchen area with everything you need as provisions for breakfast were provided and were delicious. Double bedroom with another balcony looking the other direction, mainly sheep grazing which was so soothing. The dark sky at night was just fantastic and the intensity and quantity of twinkly stars was phenomenal from either balcony. Just lovely and our hosts were happy to advise on places to see which we did. Gem of a place Thankyou
This is a charming apartment with beautiful views from both the east- and west- facing balconies. John was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. He left us delicious and thoughtfully selected ingredients for a self-cooked breakfast. Interesting to learn about straw houses (which this is), and asthetically-minded guests will appreciate the beautiful colors of the interior walls. Very quiet, just past the edge of town, but just a few minutes drive to town center. Fun to watch the sheep from the balcony when they're frisky.
Planned to stay for a couple of nights but loved it so much I extended my stay! John and Julie were very welcoming and helpful, suggesting things to do. I very much enjoyed the many walks there are around Wanaka, especially the rob roy glacier track, i'd highly recommend doing it! The accommodation its self was great! felt right at home but with the added luxury of amazing views and excellent location!! If I'm ever back in Wanaka I will be sure to come stay again!
