Detailed Reviews
This is a well run facility and one of the nicer units we stayed at. Our "hosts" were very friendly and chatted freely. Like many accommodations on the South Island, no AC, but we did have a fan. (although lack of screens on most of the windows/doors). Room/bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was also very good, with hot items cooked to order. Pool was fine (not heated), but many bees there. Didn't use Hot Tub. Although they have laundry available, it was $30 a load (whereas other places we went to were free or $4-5).

Hi Charles, Thanks for the review. We're glad you had a great stay with us. As you mentioned the AC is pretty uncommon in the south island as we have pretty cool evenings. Our pool is solar heated, and we are installing a heat pump on top, to increase the temperature and the length of our season. In regards to the laundry, as we use our own products, for a health and safety reasons, we have to do the washing ourselves, which means you don't have to do anything at all. Hence it's more expensive than other places. Cheers Yohann and the team

The staff was so friendly and helpful, it was a delight to stay at Lime Tree Lodge. We stayed in one of the four single rooms, which was elegant but maybe a little cramped. Next time, we'll reserve a suite. The breakfasts were hearty and graciously served. After breakfast, I enjoyed lounging on one of the leather-upholstered couches in the living room and reading the newspaper on my laptop.
Each room has a porch facing the well-manicured lawn, with a couple chairs and a table. Nice. But the rooms are adjacent to each other, and if your neighbor is conversing in more than whispers ... it might be disturbing.

Super nice place! This hotel is just outside of town, nice and peaceful grounds. Our room was huge! Large sitting area, small kitchen area (fridge), a separate bedroom (somehow we ended up with a room with 2 bedrooms) and a large bathroom with tub. There were also 2 outside sitting areas and we could pick where we wanted to sit based on whether we wanted to sit in the sun.
We didn’t plan on eating dinner there, but I highly recommend it. It sounded a bit fancy for us, private cook, etc. but it ended up being a really nice meal and we didn’t have to leave this beautiful location. I have multiple food sensitivities and they made it seem like absolutely no big deal. The same person also cooked our breakfast in the morning.
The staff was very helpful with making reservations and helping you figure out what to do with your day. I highly recommend this lodge.

Very disappointed to have to leave this review. My wife and I spent two nights of our honeymoon here at Lime Tree Lodge, and very much enjoyed our stay while were there…the entire property was really nice and our rooms were spacious and comfortable. It was pouring rain while we were there and our planned activities had been canceled. The hotel offered to arrange a wine tour, and we thanked them for this and signed up for it. When we were checking out, we specifically asked the check-out person whether there were any outstanding charges and she said everything had been taken care of.
On the day we arrived home, I received a telephone call from the lady that worked at reception who had assisted us. She began by asking if we had left any clothes there. I told her that I didn’t think so, and she said there were male trousers that had been left. Seeing nothing missing, I asked her to send us a picture and she agreed to do so. The photos indicated that these were not our clothes, and I informed them of this. She then said in a rather accusatory tone of voice that we had left without paying for the wine tour. My wife and I told her that we specifically asked if there were any outstanding charges that needed to be cleared up before we left, and were told that our cards had already been charged. Thus, I asked her to send me an invoice showing what we already paid. She sent a message on Expedia stating that we had left without paying and asking for us to pay. I told her that I thought my card had already been charged, and promptly paid the charges that they had forgotten to bill on our card.
I thought this whole interaction was very unprofessional. They forgot to add charges to our bill, and then acted like we intentionally left without paying and then said that we had left clothes behind (when we didn’t). I would suggest that the receptionist take a course on better customer service, because the rudeness of this interaction ruined the experience for me. I would not go back.

Hi Nelson, We are so pleased so had a great stay with us and we are so upset about your final experience with us. The billing aspect of our business is always a tricky question and we unfortunately all make mistakes, especially during the busy season. On behalf of all the team here, I would like to apologize as it is not our standard practice. We simply had some miscommunication with the wine tour operator and thought he was the one taking the payment from his side. However we all learn from our mistakes and we have been even more careful with these type of situation since it happened to you. If there's anything I could do to help, please let me know. Yohann and the team

Located about 5k outside Wanaka, Limetree Lodge is a quiet little B&B. Our room was excellent. We had a large bedroom with a decent bathroom with garden patio and access to a small pool and Jacuzzi onsite. Sachi is new to the property and works hard to ensure her guests are well attended to. Sachi provided a decent cooked breakfast on both mornings of our stay.
Lime tree lodge has lots of potential to make this a 5* venue. As it stands, it is a decent B&B at a 3/4*~level. To make this a 5* Lodge, a number of things need to be addressed.
1. On arrival, at check-in, guests should be provided with a quick overview of the facilities they have access to - the use of the kitchen, lounge, pool and Jacuzzi, check out time etc.
2. Reception needs to be manned at specific times so guests are not waiting. Suggest this could be during specific times which are communicated to guests in advance so that staff can attend to other work. The general entryway could do with a spruce-up. Remove dead plants in pots and replace with living specimens. Planting in the area to freshen and indicate that the place is cared for same as the likely gardens.
3. Our room was not cleaned during our stay but towels were replaced (even though we hung them up to indicate we were happy to reuse). I would have been ok with this had I know that was the policy but this was not communicated.
4. I was concerned that we were so far from the town when we arrived. This was actually not an issue as Sachi called us a cab (she kindly offered to drive us) and it was only $25. The restaurant called us a taxi to get home and the price was similar.

Where to start with Lime Tree Lodge, promoted as 5 star.
It could be 5 star, but so many things to address. It's almost as if someone has had this in the past, built what could be beautiful accommodation, but has lost interest.
Unfortunately the host lacked skills the role of mine host, no warm welcome, friendly chat or engagement, just basic information on a need to know basis and glibly pointed to 2 A4 sheets of information in the room. Scarcely any presence for the remainder of our stay, thankfully only 1 night.
On the A4 paper, we were advised that "all in room safes are not functioning for the time being, we are awaiting professional help to reset them". Why and how long does this take, clearly this is not a recent occurrence and why would all rooms be affected as these are individual safes, the photo shows there aren't even batteries in them?
Secondly, advised "TVs are Internet ones - smart hub is the button you want to use Netflix etc". Fine if there had even been a TV in the room?
Pieces of cut fruit laid put on plate for guests near the drinks station, why leave this uncovered for flies to land on all day?
Stain on the carpet in the room, ill fitting grubby looking curtains, worn and chipped furniture, outdoor chairs which need treating, a mismatch of random coat hangers, etc. I could go on.
Whoever owns this property really need to decide what they are aiming to offer their customers, but this is never going to be 5 star without some TLC.
Needless to say, we would not revisit, just drive on by.

Excellent accommodation. Super staff. Delicious food. Dinner prepared by a young chef who brought in the ingredients and prepared a delicious meal while we chatted with fellow guestd. Recommended as a must stay if visiting this part of NZ. Private patios and beautiful gardens just 2 of the many bonuses.

The property is located on the outskirts of Wanaka. This is a boutique lodge with a small number of rooms. We were very fortunate to have been upgraded to the suite which was very spacious, very clean and very homely. The grounds on which this property is situated has the feeling of a country estate with its beautiful gardens and animals. Breakfast is also cooked for your personal taste. Overall, we found this to be a stunning property.

Absolutely fantastic. We stayed for 4 nights and Jackie and Jess could not have made our stay more amazing if they tried. Room was large and clean. The lounge and kitchen area which is shared was fantastic, we cooked for ourselves and relaxed on the huge leather sofa with complementary wine on tap. We used the washing facilities for our clothes and it really was like a home from home. Jess cooked us breakfast and went out of her way to make sure we had exactly what we wanted. 5 mins drive into the town and so peaceful to sit in the gardens. Great place. Would definitely return.

Definitely not a 5 star, website photos are not like the real thing & definitely no fresh flowers like they say. Our room was very small no tv, so went to lounge had to light open fire ourselves tv would not work no internet. Only help available was an elderly lady which had no idea. Moved us to another room at 8pm was freezing no electric blankets, when the heat pump did warm the room the smell of vomit on the carpet was disgusting. Worst night ever, we were away by 8.30 the next morning. Emailed and said we would not be staying the second night, was told they would refund but then said they couldn’t see what the problem was!! Disgusting, don’t want anyone else to experience this.
