Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The welcome was warm, great couple who make you feel at home. The purpose built B&B has a large dining/lounge with plenty of comfortable seating. Room was large and well appointed with spacious en suite with a spa bath. Outside seating areas with views of the well kept grounds. Will definitely stay there again.

A wonderful homely and warm purpose built bed and breakfast in a lovely semi rural setting. The room was so spacious and private with a huge ensuite, tea coffee facilities and desk. All the little extras like chocolates lovely toiletries. The hospitality was brilliant. The large living area very comfortable. Totally felt at home and would highly recommend this Lodge. An A plus from us. Couldn’t fault a thing! Hope to return soon and thanks to Peter and Jane we loved or stay.

Stayed two nights in "The Retreat", a self-contained apartment separate from the main lodge. Really welcoming hosts and excellent facilities. Impressed and surprised by Twizel itself, having previously just passed it on the main road. Shops, bars and restaurants a short drive from the B&B. Would definitely stay here again if travelling this way.

This was the best B&B that we stayed in on the South Island. Peter and Jane were lovely hosts. Given lots of information about the local area, recommended a restaurant which they booked for us. Luxurious accommodation, access to a large lounge and patio which we used to enjoy a drink of wine outside in the evening. Laundry facilities available which is great when touring. Exceptional breakfasts, wish we could have stayed longer than the 2 nights. Jane even gave us some homemade biscuits as we left, a really nice touch. Thanks again.

Peter and Jane could not have done more to welcome us, to make us so comfortable, to give us delicious breakfasts and to give us advice on the locality. This is an exceptional B&B which I recommend whole heartedly. A pretty garden, espresso coffee machine, free use of the laundry and bikes, and congenial fellow travellers all contribute to a most enjoyable stay. We lacked for nothing and particularly appreciated such a comfortable bed and good reading lights.

A gem of a place to stay. Jane & Peter are the perfect hosts & cannot do enough for you. Accomodation is luxurious & Jane's home cooking & baking an absolute treat. Would definitely recommend Heartland Lodge & when we return to New Zealand, hopefully, we would definitely stay again.

With a very personal welcome we felt immediately at home. We got a really luxurious room and met during our stay some nice otter guests. A brilliant breakfast was served each morning combined with the right tips to explore the Mount Cook area. Go there!

We had a truly memorable experience at Mt. Cook and it could not have happened were it not for Peter and Jane. They are incredibly friendly and hospitable. What's more, they have excellent advice about what to do and see and where to eat.

On our road trip exploration of the South Island, we wanted to see Taupo/Mt. Cook. Am I glad that all accommodations in Aoraki were booked, since we chose the Heartland Lodge as our overnight stay. What a gem in the middle of NZ. As we pulled up, Peter came out to welcome us with our name on his blackboard. Such a nice touch which was only surpassed by the room, the lodge itself and the graciousness of the host. It was a wonderful surprise to be treated so nicely and to be extremely comfortable from moment one in a lovely place surrounded by lovely grounds. Breakfast was great and we had a wonderful stay. If visiting Mt. Cook, you'll really enjoy a stay at Heartland Lodge.
