We stayed 2 nights here in quite a spacious unit with a separate bedroom. The overall impression when you arrive is pretty bland with no gardens and just tarseal up to the front door. We paid $210 per night. The decor is very tired, dated and the carpet old. The spa bath in the bathroom was quite dated but Im sure a welcome sight to those who have done snow trips. It was very roomy and had a well appointed kitchen which was great for our cooking needs. The manager was polite and friendly and suggested sight seeing highlights.
Overall I wouldnt give it 4 stars though. More like a 3 star motel.

We stayed for one night in a very large one bedroom unit. The unit was extremely clean but the bathroom is starting to show its age. Very comfortable bed and good pillows. Were not however impressed with the threating sign in the kitchen with regard to washing dishes, our understanding is if you stay more than one night you do the dishes as you go but not if you are only staying one night, a real let down for what other wise was a pleasant place to stay.

We enjoyed staying at the Lakes Motel on a recent visit to catch up with family in Twizel for Christmas. The owners, Warren and Fiona were very welcoming, friendly and professional. Our one-bedroom unit which had a separate lounge was very spacious, well equipped and clean. This motel was an easy walk to both the town centre and as well to catch up with our family members. We will certainly stay here again the next time we visit to Twizel.

We recently stayed one night at The Lakes Motel on our way to Mt Cook. We had a very enjoyable one night stay! Our room was clean, linens and towels were good quality, road noise not an issue, easy to walk into town to grocery or restaurants. The manager Warren was very understanding about us possibly arriving LATE because the road from Omarama was CLOSED due to an accident. If we return to NZ we will definitely stay here again!!

The two bedroom apartments were spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable with extra pillows provided. Warren was welcoming and very helpful with our flat battery. I stayed here as part of an Alps2Ocean Cycle Tour so cannot comment on the pricing. My room was very good with a big comfortable bed and refrigerator. Bathroom was large, but beware of the slippery floor. I had a tumble backwards into the spa bath and hit my head, and am very careful due to my age(73). I almost slipped again later. Not sure if it was me being clumsy or the floor type .Sleep quality is good provided you don’t want to go to bed too early or get up late as there is a helipad right by the hotel. I heard 5 different helicopters landing during my 1 night stay.

Lovely large, well-appointed suite with a comfy bed(which is hard to find in most hotels!) Very nice friendly staff. The only improvements I could suggest would be a larger variety of Tea/coffee and larger towels. We will definitely be back :)

Well managed comfortable motel which gives a sense of privacy even when full. It’s located near to the “cycle journeys” head office from which the “Alps to Ocean” can be organised. This is the longest and most beautiful cycle trail in New Zealand.

Pros: Room was clean. blankets were clean. furniture was relatively new and in very good condition. the shower was one of the best I ever had. The pressure was great. It was also a very green hotel. They provided shampoo/shower gel in wall dispenser. Parking lot was pavement (I was neutral) and well marked (that was nice)
Cons: There was no green space. It felt very industrial. One row of units faced the busy road. The bed mattress was too soften for my back. I got backpain next day.
