We stayed in two different cabins on two visits. The cabins are clean and roomy. The park is quite large but surpassing quiet even on the holiday weekend when we were there. They give out a bin of kitchen stuff when you arrive so the kitchen is always clean because there's no clutter of utensils etc and you always have everything you need for meals. They used to charge for Internet but the new management is upgrading the Internet service to high speed and making it free. In the meantime they will give you a free voucher so ask for one of they forget.

We had a room at the motel which was surprisingly spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathtub had a whirlpool function and lots of spa products were provided in the bathroom. It's a few meters to the lake (maybe 50) and you can see the bunnies come out in the evening. Its quiet at night. Also lovely stargazing, no need to go to Tekapo 😀. The laundry facility is in the back of the campground behind the motel and I am glad we did not camp there as that place is not well maintained. Lots of building materials around, abandoned RVs and the lots look untidy. There's a private part in the middle of the campground full of old stuff that looks like a messy's home. They also have little cabins that look ok. The washing machine was dirty (seriously, wipe it down once a week!) and I would not want to use the facilities there. The kiosk staff is lovely and you can get basic food items, ice-cream etc. in there. Bottomline: no complaints about the motel room but we also paid a lot (was the only place to be found in Twizel so close to xmas).

Rented a basic cabin last minute. Staff were friendly and the room was tidy although the facilities were a little dated and in need of some TLC. We have stayed in similar holiday parks in which you would receive tea and coffee in the room for the same price. Overall ok stay with good access to the lake with a lovely walking track.

We first tried this camp ground five years ago after a recommendation and we have returned every January since with our family of four. This is a lovely, quiet yet large, family-friendly and pet-friendly camp ground. We spend our days fishing, hanging out at the lake, biking or walking. Our kids have loved the freedom and safety that the camp ground offers for biking around and making new friends. For the cost, this is a great budget friendly summer holiday option. We always stay in a cabin; linen provided, TV, heater, fridge, table and chairs and take from home the other bits to make our stay more comfortable (fan for those hot Twizel nights, air fryer to keen the teens happy). We have also stayed in the ten bedroom unit, which was so lovely and spacious and we have also had grandparents join us to stay in the sparkling clean, spacious motel units. Food carts on site have been a handy option for us, the hot chips are delicious! We choose to go after new year celebrations have finished as it is quieter. Free wifi has been a great addition. Shop has the best $1 mixtures and always has ice, fresh bread and supplies for camping and even extra fishing supplies. Kian and the team do a wonderful job. We just love our annual stay in Twizel.

When I first got there I thought it would be nice because we paid for a 1 bedroom cabin but got upgraded to a 3 bedroom cabin. But the playgrounds didn't look maintained and both seesaws didn't work, I found the trampoline dangerous as it did not have a net and wasn't that spacious. the 3 BEDROOM cabin had 1 FAN and so it was so hot and hard to sleep. In the room of the reception desk, there was a small necessities mini store but i noticed the bottles of water had the signs which showed the Powerade signs, and they claimed they ran out of milk but even if they did there would be no place to put it in the fridge as they were fully stocked. Honestly wouldn't go again and wouldn't recommend for others.

Very disappointing. A lakeside resort? Hardly, our powered site was miles from the lake and near the entrance road. The site was tatty with many abandoned vans. There was no map provided showing us to our pitch and it was very difficult to find. This campsite was more expensive than many others but Wi-Fi came at an extra cost. Showers were dirty and dinghy and it was noisy until late at night. Not recommended.

I have to say that what stands out is the staff. Kian was really accommodating and the reception staff was very polite, smiling and nice. In addition, the camping was well located, our family unit was spacious and comfortable, close to the shared kitchen and bathroom. Overall we had a nice stay.

We stopped by the park for one night. We stayed in an LV cabin. It contained a bunk bed, a single bed, a tv, and a table. We paid over $100 for a basic room that resembled a small shipping container.
The park contained dumped equipment which made it feel dirty. Though the bathrooms and kitchen were clean. Laundry requires $3 and the dryer didn’t work. We also had to pay for laundry powder and wifi- when you’re paying over $100 for so little amenities with the room, you wouldn’t expect them to charge for every little thing on top.
Some staff were enthusiastic and helpful, others did not provide very good customer service.
Bit of a whinge... but the location is great, lake is beautiful and it would be great for families... it was not for us.
Tl ;dr: over priced, received very little in return, but location is good.

If you want a genuine apocalyptic experience - this is the place for you! We booked for three nights, left after 2 and we will never be returning again. We were hoping for a nice family camping experience - this is not what we got. You drive in past the abandoned caravans and the Temu style playground, that being said, the location next to the lake is lovely. BUT other than that, be prepared for poor facilities (which weren't cleaned while we were there) and very little sleep due to noise.

Visited Twizel for the night to see the incrediable hore frost that was happening, great night friendly lady served us, went out to see the frozen trees and on return found the water to our room also frozen, when I advised the office it was a quick search through the rooms only to find the biggest room the wine room with running water. A quick transfer of room no additional charge . Host was very apologetic but could not hold the weather against them and they were so accommodating upgrading us to the bigger room.
