Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have stayed hear now for 3years in a row and looking forward to march 11th this year. Excellent in all regards. Always clean, neat and tidy and previous owners would leave homemade cakes of some sort - little touches like that makes one feel the South Island hospitality.
Located just on the outskirts it feels like a real getaway, but it's an easy walk to the Twizel town centre.

Coming from a Fusspot - praise indeed, we stayed for 2 nights 7th and 8th January and could not fault a thing.

A warm welcome and a plate of home baking waiting for us, we were very pleased.

My husband and I and a friend from England stayed it was perfect.

I very rarely write reviews but felt that I needed to confirm all the positive comments from the previous reviewers.

Thank you so much Johanne and Alistair.

It was the weekend and it seemed like everything was booked. Drove around and discovered this lovely place. Raeleen has two new units and is freshening up her other two units. She offered us one of the newer units and we settled in before going out for an adventure. The cottage was furnished nicely and it was so quite there, as we like. Raeleen was friendly, it was a pleasure to meet her. Spent two nights in a comfortable bed. Nice shower and a great washing machine, which we needed. A clothes drying rack was available or a nice clothes line outback. Enjoyed nice dinners there with all that we needed, supplied. A new WiFi was in the works to be hooked up but in the meantime coverage was a bit weak. Such a tranquil nice place, would definitely recommend.

Great accomodation, all you need from dishwasher to micro-wave oven, confortable, very clean, very quiet remote area... I agree with all the other comments, it's a great place, BUT there was no wi-fi, as it was advertised. Discussing with the landlady, she told me the wi-fi was available at her house, 25m away. Wich is great. But I can't use it for preparing my next journey from my room. So either add a router, a relay or whatever, or remove the free wi-fi from the list. Once it's done, I'll give a 5 star review...

We were positively surprised by this lovely place and the value we got for our money. We stayed for two nights, but the location would have suited us for a whole week, too. It is very spacey, two bed rooms, large bathroom, large living room with TV, full kitchen with all equipment, nice terrace to sit put side even with a gas grill, very clean. We have seen a lot of hotels, lodges on our trip around NZ and this one is by far the best. We paid 150 Dollars per couple per night, but the cottage we booked sleeps 4; price might slightly go up for 4 persons. Very nice and helpful landlady. We can recommend this one, Karin &Uwe, Germany.

Raeleen was tremendous going out of her way to help. The accommodation was warm, very clean and had all of the comforts from home. Ideal for 1-4 people with all modern conveniences.
I recommend this as ideal to stay and explore the mount cook area

Very nice, modern and clean unit and a friendly host and amazing breakfast hampers in the morning. Had everything we needed, washer, dryer, dishwasher, heater, it was great, we only stayed two nights but this would be a great place to holiday for longer and have more time to explore the area. Short distance to lake pukaki. Quiet place to just chill out though :)

OK - Raeleen asked me to write that. It is true though that this has the best Wifi of the eight places we've stayed in NZ so far. I did a speed check and (nerd alert) you get 15Mbps download and 0.8Mbps upload. We didn't really care but were puzzled by the reviews, so I asked her.

"We dug a trench" 😊

The other complaints are that the rooms aren't serviced daily (although they are SPOTLESS when you arrive) and that this is a way out of the centre of Twizel (anyone who knows Twizel will probably see that as a positive).

So those are the complaints but this place is great - the apartments are huge, the kitchen is fabulous (we ate in all three nights - we didn't risk the Twizel 4 Square but brought food from Queenstown), and it's all brand new. There is no noise from the adjoining apartment. It has a wet bathroom (that was another complaint - 'the floors get wet': welcome to contemporary bathroom design, darling). It is incredibly light but with effective curtains in the bedrooms and it's got aircon for goodness sakes!

Moreover, the apartments are very stylish - that's not me saying it, that's my Italian wife. A lot of thought has gone into the design and decor here. Little things like the diagonal tiling on the recessed shower area.

We came here to walk and it's a perfect spot to access Lake Ohau and Pukaki. We did a lovely walk around the Pyramid, linking the Darts Bush/Flanagan Pass trail with a couple of other tracks to get a circuit and the next day we walked the Hooker Valley Track. Don't bother with the latter - packed with people on an overcast Tuesday to get to a glacier that looked like it was out of Banksy's Dismaland. Do take some photos looking down the luminous Pukaki Canal at sunset - we got the best shots of the holiday there.

We've been travelling for a month and this beats all the others we've stayed.

Pros:
- super quiet
- brand new cottages with everything you may need: 2 bedrooms, living space, full kitchen, washer/drier etc
- air con
- best wifi so far!! (The owner said she upgraded it after the many TA complaints)

Cons:
- outside of the town: a pro for us but you need a car
- she provides detergent for dishwasher and washing machine, plus soap in the bathroom, you need your own shampoo
- no daily servicing (not an issue for us)

Just fabulous.
