The resort is located on the beautiful 109-acre private Yanuca Island with its pure white sandy beach and crystal clear, coral rich seas of the exotic Fiji Islands. Only 45 minutes from Nadi International Airport, the island is connected from the mainland by a causeway. A traditional Fijian village is the inspiration behind the layout of the 443-room resort with every guest room, suite and bure featuring a private balcony with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean or the resort’s lagoon. New to the Resort is the Reef Wing which focuses on the adults-only experience, full of options for private dinners, extravagant spa treatments for two, and complimentary cocktails and canapés by the pool at sunset. Unlimited wired broadband Internet access is complimentary in all rooms. A wide range of authentic dining options are available with five world-class restaurants and two lively bars, each bringing fresh, local flavours with a Fijian flair. Cultural shows highlight Fijian lovo, meke and firewalking rituals, and contemporary Fijian dance. The Resort offers a range of activities, including water sports, scuba diving and golf, and a popular Kid's Club. Chi the Spa is a secluded spa village set away from the main resort, and provides the privacy and luxury of the largest Spa villas in Fiji. Four Oceanview and two Rainforest treatment villas feature relaxation areas overlooking either the Pacific Ocean or an exotic rainforest, with private garden patios, outdoor bath tubs, herbal steam room and outdoor showers. Overnight spa journeys are available.

Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji, has been celebrated by guests as a picturesque retreat, offering stunning beachfront vistas and a plethora of activities, although the decor is noted to be somewhat outdated. The hotel's ambience is warm and authentically Fijian, with many visitors commending the friendly staff and beautiful grounds, in spite of the need for updates in some areas. While rooms are generally clean and beds are found to be comfortable, there is a consensus that they require modernization.
Guests appreciate the cleanliness throughout the property and the variety of amenities, though some areas could benefit from better upkeep. Opinions on value are divided, with some services deemed reasonably priced, while others are considered costly, and occasional billing discrepancies have been reported. The service receives accolades for its attentiveness, despite occasional lapses in speed and consistency.

This was my 5th trip to Fiji over the last 10 years , and opted for a solo vacation for a much needed break.
I booked one of the ocean view rooms in the “reef” wing which I would highly recommend if you are staying without children. Adults only on this side. The reef wing also gives you access to the adults only pool that the rest of hotel can not use unless you have booked a reef wing room so it makes it feel a lot quieter, and more relaxing with less people around. I love children but find the rest of hotel much too child friendly for me, awesome fun if you have kids to bring however they would have a ball. My room had great views over the ocean and was comfortable and spacious. They give you 2 bottles of water each day when they clean your room , but you can also pop downstairs to the bar and request more as they are complimentary. Or when you are laying by pool. My only feedback on the room would be the TV. Whilst I didn’t want to watch much tv , it would have been nice to watch a movie before bed/ have access to Netflix which in my experience should be the norm these days with nice hotels. Tv had only a few channels and they were mostly international or news. The reef wing also gives you access to the adults only breakfast , which again was much more enjoyable than the main breakfast venues. They do some nice little things each day , like a short show by locals , happy hour at various bars at hotel, complimentary drink in reef wing for sunset which was a nice touch. Staff are as always super lovely and friendly. Having stayed at some of the higher end resorts in Fiji at the outer islands, i wasn’t sure what to expect but I found it to be a lovely hotel for what you pay.
They have done up some parts of hotel (restaurants and bars ) so they looked nice and newish. Some other parts of hotel could use updating. Prices for drinks I felt were reasonable, however I didn’t drink cocktails only wine (around $12 Aud For a wine.) I live in Sydney so feel this is on par. And again various parts of hotel you can do happy hour and I think they are half price.
The water is not as nice as the outer islands (as to be expected) and found it to not be very clean so be mindful - this isn’t a reflection of the hotel, just an FYI. The spa was lovely, had a 1 hour massage and felt like a new woman after.
Gym needs some work, great view on the water but half the equipment was broken.
Would definitely return and book reef wing again.

The location is an island oasis indeed but the complex is getting very dated and whilst the staff work incredibly hard it was hit and miss as to how "friendly" and helpful they were. I have seen with my own eyes how rude and disrepectful some guests can be towards staff but when you are friendly to them you expect it in return. The rooms are noisey, not a peaceful nights sleep with guests arriving and leaving at all hours and I suspect there are more "family friendly" resorts on the Coral Coast. Your in room arrival "gifts" are random, one got wine and cookies, one got cookies, one got nothing at all - it would be good to have been asked our preferences or have some consistency. A few tips if you are staying: have breakfast at the smaller Takali restaurant, the staff are friendlier and it tends to be quieter. The 1 hr snorkelling tour was AMAZING and well worth the money. Some may love this place but it was not for me.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The good: - The pools are a comfortable temperature and very deep - The sunsets are stunning - Snorkelling is amazing - The beds and pillows are super comfortable - The breakfast buffet is plentiful and very good quality - The waterpark is fun for parents and kids alike - Mini golf course is fun, important to note it's at an additional cost - Rooms are clean and free of mould and condensation issues
The bad: - Kids club is staffed by people who seem uninterested in kids. The program isn't entertaining. I'd recommend kids club only for kids up to 6-8. - Children older than 8 have nothing to do. - There are no regular activities for guests to join in, no staff walk around to engage people in activities or games. - Service is slow and nothing comes out together. There could be wait times of over 10 minutes for other meals ordered at the same time. - If you have allergies, this is not the place for you. Ingredients change regularly even when you order the same meal. Egg was added to one dish where it wasn't listed, and chilli to another. Both were meals previously ordered on different days with no problem. - Don't bother ordering coffee or tea at breakfast, it won't come. If it does arrive 30+ minutes later, it's terrible and you'll regret ordering it in the first place. - Everything is very expensive and there aren't closer alternatives. - When it rains, there's nothing to do for any age and people just sit in their rooms. - There's nowhere to go after dinner for drinks, entertainment, or fun activities. - Room service isn't until very late in the afternoon - Tv is poor quality - The staff are nice people but comparing to other places we've stayed in Fiji, they don't seem as happy and engaging as those employed by other resorts.
Overall, the resort location is beautiful but so is everywhere in Fiji. Having been to this country several times, I would not return to the Shangri-La. There are better resorts in the same price range.

This resort has to be the best on the main island in terms of beautiful beach (not tidal) and facilities - yes it’s an old resort and some of the accommodation is in need of a refurbishment (lagoon rooms) but the overall experience is amazing - restaurants are all great (Takulai is sooo goood!) the staff were so lovely - Our 4th trip there and no doubt will be back again :) Don’t be put off by negative reviews.. if your wanting 5 star go to a Denerau Resort- they are top notch - however you won’t have the beautiful beach.

Absolutely the best hotel in miles! Its charming and authentic, with so many pristine spots to bathe in and dine next to. The main restaurant has a terrace overlooking the water, there’s a bar grill (with super cocktails) next to the main pool and a secluded luxurious Asian fine diner too. The resort is split into two so you can have family fun or opt for a quiet more relaxing manicured lawns onto white soft sand beach that faces the ocean. We adored the spirit here - staff paid attention to every single request - even taking our son to see the fire engine on the buggy. Hygiene is immaculate in rooms and around the resort. Food buffet was always replenished so even if you come late to avoid rush hour, there’s always plenty of everything: the buffet is good and the breakfast has every option, and tons of fresh fruit. Beds were super cosy. With fluffy pillows, modern refurbished bathrooms and the part of the resort by the Asian restaurant had the most amazing teak furniture. The kids club was he best we’ve experienced in Fiji, with trips to marine centre, soccer, batik T-shirt making and a superb playground with lots of equipment. Nannie’s are available if needed for a reasonable fee and all come from the local village. Our son loved being there while our eldest spent all her time in kayaks, snd an amazing brand new water park that the lifeguard entertains kids in. The staff love working there and are so happy! It made a huge difference from the other hotels in the area that we’ve sampled over the years where there wasn’t great service and things took ages. A lovely detail was how the hotel works with the local community to organise trips to the local village and employs so much of the community here. We loved the fact that everything is paid for. No extras for water, or games, or entertainment or water equipment. And alcohol and meals are reasonably priced. The only downside was perhaps having to book a sunbed early as they go fast. And perhaps avoid rush hour at main restaurant as it can get congested. Top marks for a hotel that keeps its charm, despite all the extras on offer. And highly recommend in every aspect. Wishing Mr Sunil, his staff and all the amazing concierge staff the very best in months to come. You’ve made our new year, holiday one to remember and we can’t wait to be back! Vinaka !!!

Dear Maryannhorne, Thank you so much for your glowing review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic experience at our hotel. Your kind words about our charming and authentic atmosphere, pristine spots, and diverse dining options truly warm our hearts. We are delighted that you enjoyed the terrace overlooking the water, the bar grill by the main pool, and our secluded luxurious Asian fine diner. We are especially pleased to know that our staff made your stay memorable by paying attention to every single request, including taking your son to see the fire engine on the buggy. Maintaining immaculate hygiene and ensuring our food buffet is always replenished are top priorities for us, and we are glad you appreciated these efforts. It’s wonderful to hear that you found our beds super cozy and enjoyed the modern refurbished bathrooms and teak furniture. We are also happy that your children had a great time at our kids club and water park, and that our nannies from the local village provided excellent care. Your feedback about our staff’s happiness and the positive impact of our community involvement is very encouraging. We strive to create a joyful and supportive environment for both our guests and our team. We appreciate your note about the sunbeds and the rush hour at the main restaurant. We will take this into consideration to improve our services further. Thank you for your high recommendation and for recognizing the efforts of Mr. Sunil and our concierge staff. We are honored to have made your New Year holiday one to remember, and we can’t wait to welcome you back soon. Vinaka! This was our third time staying at the Shangri-La and once again we were not disappointed. We had read reviews about some rooms being mouldy etc. but this was definitely not the case with our room which was very clean and well looked after. The staff are really friendly and always go out of their way to say Bula and help you out if needed. Our check in was smooth and our room was ready on arrival. As for the resort itself, the beach is paradise and all the pools are great! There are loads of fun activities organised for the kids and our kids (5 and 7) didn’t go to kids club as there was too much other stuff to entertain them. Our kids loved the inflatables at the beach in particular but also loved riding bikes, playing mini golf, playing soccer, softball and touch footy, pool games, snorkeling and parasailing. There is also plenty to do for adults including walking, gym, tennis, massage, jet skiing and golf. We stayed here 6 nights and put simply we never were looking for things to do! The restaurants are all good except they are all very expensive (more expensive than restaurants in Australia) and many times we ate outside of the resort to reduce costs. A big inconvenience was the lack of laundry facilities which made washing clothes very difficult. The resort charge $35FJ for 20 items which is ridiculously expensive so we took our laundry outside the resort to get washed for much cheaper but obviously this was inconvenient. Surely some washers and dryers could be put in a room somewhere for guests to use. After staying here we stayed at Port Denerau and can honestly say staying on the Coral Coast is far better and a more Fijian experience. Overall we loved our stay here and look forward to visiting again soon!

We travelled around 4 islands - Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia - in March staying in different accommodation.
Shangri-La was, on reflection, the best organised and most comprehensive holiday resort offer. However, because it basically is a massive holiday camp it may not be to everyone’s taste. Like all these things depends what you want.
We stayed for 7 nights in March. We stayed in the adults only reef wing. We had some sunny days and some torrential downpours. The room was good, TV and excellent A/C which was necessary to combat the humidity. We left it off once to return to water running down the walls and puddles in the floor! The balcony was pretty spacious offering good views of the beach, lagoon and adult swimming pool.
This a massive self contained resort catering largely for families (and a conference facility) with a multiplicity of restaurants offering different cuisines (we liked the beach bar), bars, swimming pools, kids club, a small shopping centre, on site ATM, trips, golf course, crazy golf, spa, shows etc etc. To be fair it’s been very well put together. There are free motorised buggies that drive round picking guests up and dropping them off. The adults only wing was kept as adults only with its own bar (served snacks) and its own swimming pool. There is an adults only breakfast restaurant on the site but not in the reef wing.
The location was about an hour away from the airport (depending on traffic) and on the south side if the island. The resort offered walks around it and some pleasant beaches with lovely views. But to get the ‘real’ Fiji you’d have to go off site.
Like most, if not all, of the Pacific Islands it’s hard to go there and not be struck by how genuinely pleasant, polite, hospitable, warm and friendly the people are. This was true of all the staff here who were simply and uniformly helpful and lovely. In fact, the guys here were top quality.
So, we liked it as a different experience. But can see why others may not as it may just be too big and too busy. I can see the attraction for families. If you are on holiday without children I’d have to suggest going adult only.
Overall, we enjoyed our week.

Don’t bother!!!!! The pictures on the internet a very enhance and deceiving The rooms are very old style falling apart smell of mould and very musty with chips and cracks everywhere from the chairs, tables, glass, beds, walls, and floors We stayed here for 7 days to long No hot water every day! Rooms don’t get made up until 5pm when you’re trying to get ready and have been out all day! Constantly calling them back everyday to put towels and water in our room They seem to forget! The drinks are watered down at the bar They forget your order all the time Or just don’t come! constantly chasing them up! Really bad service Food in all the restaurants are terrible cold, overcooked and lack in taste and overpriced food and beverage lacks big time Staff don’t seem to care and have attitude Don’t bother buying at the bottle shop or any shops here l!! they are privately owned and if you charge to your room it’s 5% Unless you pay by card which is 2% 1 stubby of beer is 12 FD and if you by a 6 pack they are charged singly making it $72 Fd (48’AUD) Such a shame!!! would never come back to this place Do yourself a favour stay somewhere else Although Fiji is expensive anyway nowadays

For a Shangri-La, this is the worst one. Absolutely terrible, I will be ensuring I tell friends and family of our experience and we will not return. The only reason they get a 1 star is because of the beach access, the spa and some of the people. We stayed for a week and in our package all food and drinks were included yet no information was given to us at check-in. We were never told about the QR code, what the drinks and food package included, about the nanny service, kids club, NOTHING. We also had to move rooms twice and one of the parties travelling with us had to move 3 times. The communication in this place is so unbelievably poor and I would not return. My advice to those with the drinks & food package is that you need to check your bills often because we were constantly finding that even though it was all included, numerous meals and drinks were still being charged. Not impressed whatsoever.

The Shanghai-La resort is about an hour drive from Nadi airport. We stayed in the Lagoon units which were spacious for a couple, but a little tight for a family of four. There was a very comfortable king bed and a couch with a pull out bed first two singles. (Be careful with spray sunscreen etc as the floor gets very slippery.) Our unit (room 150) looked out to a grassed area and further across to the beach and pool which was handy. It was a short walk to the buffet breakfast and restaurants. TIPS: Bring a soccer ball etc. as there are nets on the grassed area. Spray your room with mosquito spray before you go out to dinner and use mossier patches for the kids. Use the pool and beach in the mornings just in case it gets windy in the afternoon.
