This property option was initially planned due to an overall positive impression of the Novotel hotels over the years. The price was reasonable and the hotel was slightly away from the Fiji capital (Suva) city centre.
Sad to say, this property needs improvements at multiple levels, starting from staff interactions, review of customer touch points and experiences, details of the hotel comfort fundamentals. There was no phone (a local contact number was given which was not accessible on whatsapp, which meant one had to walk to the reception for every request), water in the room, which had to be purchased at a very high cost. The excuse mentioned for water was sustainability but other hotels at similar level seemed to provide at least water in glass bottles. This property was also undergoing renovation at the time, which led to other inconveniences. The details of our experience were outlined in detail, shared as part of feedback and it was good to see a response from the leader about reviewing them further.
Overall, this did hurt my impression of the generally great Novotel brand.
The view from the room of the lake and price point seemed to be the only comparative positives overall.

Bula tojoepen, once again thank you for staying with us. Whilst we improve the hotel and regrettably it didn't live up to your expectation we are still hopeful to be able to welcome you back on day.

This is a good place to stay out of Suva. The rooms are fine and ours looked out over water. The staff are all helpful and the restaurant food was good and not too expensive (unlike much of Fiji). Taxis are easy to get hold of to get into Suva though the morning rush hour is to be avoided.

Stayed here for 5 nights in June 2023. The rooms were recently renovated and comfortable but quite small. The bed is comfortable. I think all rooms face the Bay, lovely views. Wi fi in the room worked well. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate. Not a huge variety to choose from but adequate. I dont know what's going on there now - at the time it lacked atmosphere in the evenings. No music or any type of entertainment. The meals were quite good and most staff were friendly and helpful. Shops at Lami town for groceries etc is a short taxi ride or 20 to 30 min walk (from memory). My rating is actually above average and below very good.

Thank you Novotel, Suva staff for the very hospitable service we received yesterday, Easter Monday. We had booked the pool pass for the day and Neha ensured the process was smooth in our online booking. Upon arrival the ladies at front desk welcomed us and provided our pool towels and lunch pass very quickly knowing the excitement with the children to swim. The friendly F&B team served delicious pizzas and milkshakes for our lunch and pool drinks! Thanks for the lovely experience at your beautiful hotel. It quaintly located only 10mins from the city which makes it so convenient.

I just want to take this little time to again compliment the staff and cooks of the Novotel Hotel. This little gem just outside Suva offers a delicious menu with excellent attentive service making your mealtime most enjoyable. Every meal is consistent from the very first-time ordering months ago to now with very reasonable pricing. I recommend this hotel for any of your meals while in Suva. O by the way the views from the restaurant are amazing.

We recently stayed at Novotel and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. We booked 5 rooms for our family vacation for three nights. The bathroom had an unpleasant odor that persisted throughout our stay, which made it very uncomfortable to use. Additionally, the towels provided were old and worn out, lacking the softness and freshness one would expect from a hotel. Once housekeeping staff takes the towels, new towels our given hours later.

Everything in the room is very outdated and dirty (bed frame, iron, picture frames on the wall, lights stands)… very disappointing.

We had higher expectations for Novotel and was quite let down by these shortcomings. I hope the management addresses these issues for the sake of future guests. Please don’t just focus on maintaining cleanliness in the main lobby when it’s also very important to keep all rooms clean and presentable so the stay is comfortable.

Typically, I face a lot of challenges when I facilitate workshops and retreats at resorts and hotels. Usually it's because they can't cater for my vegan and gluten-free dietary needs. This time, I was pleasantly surprised. Every meal and snack for my 2-day retreat was delicious and to my specifications. I didn't have a single allergic reaction, and I realized this should be the norm. To top it off, the staff was very efficient with providing AV support, wifi access, being responsive to our needs for extra materials, and being very diligent with disaster risk management - there was a heavy rain/flood warning on Day 2 of our retreat. They were kind and helpful when I needed outdoor spaces to conduct mindfulness exercises. Radini in particular was very attentive and helpful. I really felt very taken care of, and I highly recommend Novotel for workshops. I've been treated poorly at other resorts, so this was a delight!

Beautiful modern and very clean room. I loved it. Seemed very new.
My twin 5 yr old boys and I stayed 1 night and enjoyed it.
Pool was cold but the boys went in for 10 mins anyway and had fun.
Staff were very friendly and always chatted to the twins.
The buffet breakfast was nice. We have coeliac disease and the chef made some beautiful gluten free pancakes.
I would recommend this hotel.

I’ve stayed here before many times however on this occasion I was a visiting guest who decided to dine in. Ordered an ice coffee - the drink came and there was it was just milk and coffee, no sweetness at all. I’ve had this drink before which was quite nice(only a week earlier)

I asked the staff member if it’s meant to be sweet to which she replied “yes it has ice cream” I asked her to take it back and try it and tell what she thinks as there was no ice cream in drink.

5mins later a different staff member turns up - “ice coffee”? This time it was sweet however almost half the glass was froth. No apology, no followup after to ask if drink was ok - absolutely NOTHING from staff. It seemed that because of my complaint, I was now an inconvenience.

I can assure you that my 20+ years in hospitality and customer service I have seen it all and experienced great service and also poor service.

At this stage, I left drink aside, paid for my drink and left.

The staff need to be trained with customer service and understand the recipes and standards. Learn how to deal with customer complaints and feedback.

For somewhere that has given me very fond and pleasant memories, this recent visit has made me rethink my options on where to stay when I am in Suva next.

Please take this feedback seriously or you will lose a lot of your regulars.

Also install some ceiling fans in your lounge/dining area as it gets quite hot during the day when there is no sea breeze.

We always have a fabulous stay at Novotel Suva - it feels like a home away from home. The breakfast offering has been upgraded in the past few months and has a delicious spread as well as some of the best barista coffees in Fiji. The location is perfect - a quick drive into Suva but just far enough to escape the busy city feeling. Beautiful sunsets and beautiful staff! We’ll be back. Vinaka vakalevu

Thank you for your question and yes we most definitely do have fantastic views over Lami Bay. There is no beach in front of the hotel as our hotel is located right up against the sea wall and even at low tide the water is deep. We do have a swimming pool for all year round use. Kind regards Tim

I believe if payment had been done online then a verification of your id may be needed and of course booking reference and online payment receipt can be used to confirm your room - although, I am not really sure on how this works at the hotel!
