Our Team who was there from the very beginning of Yala Safari Camping was real wild life and nature lovers who were mixed with wild from childhood. We were born here and most of our childhood memories are connected with jungle experiences. The love and knowledge we gained from childhood came into live since 2003, when we started our first campsite. We could gain the reputation as one of the best safari camping providers of South Asia from the courage of ours and the continuous satisfaction thus came from our guests. Now we have 6 luxury tents and they are identified as the best campsites of Yala and the best location of Yala. We are the only campsite provider who registered with Independent Safari Association of Yala and we are the only provider in such an unique wild life habitat. Yes it is absolutely a wildlife kingdom where we are located in…. We invite you to share our experiences with wild life and nature while enjoying the best safari camping features of Sri Lanka. Yala National Park is located in the south eastern region of Sri Lanka and extends over two provinces of Hambantota district of southern province and Monaragala district in Uva province. There are 2 popular entrances to the park which are t Palatupana and Katagamuwa. Since Palatupana is always busy , we use Katagamuwa entrance. Yala National Park that consists of five blocks is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. Though Yala spreads over an area of 1260 square kilometers, only one fifth of the area is open to the visitors. Four-fifths of the park is a strictly designated Natural Reserve. Adjoining the eastern border of the park is Kumana. The gateway to Yala National Park is Tissamaharama. The well-designed visitor center provides the information to the tourists and assigns a tracker to all incoming vehicles. Dawn and dusk bring about the best timing for Safari tours in the Yala National Park. Being located in one of the arid regions of Sri Lanka, the Climate of Ruhuna National Park is usually hot and dry. The mean annual temperature is 27 Celsius, although in the dry season the temperature could go as high as 37 Celsius. The rocky outcrops scattered over the park provides vantage points to enjoy the sprawling areas with Sri Lanka’s dry zone landscape: low scrub and woods. Still more, the southern border of the park being the south-eastern coast, the brackish lagoons and dunes enhances the distinctive charm of the Yala National Park.

What an incredible safari experience! With the team at Yala Safari Camping you get a very personal service, luxury camping in a stunning location with dramatic vistas across the national park, feasting on delicious food and getting private safari tours seeing so many wild animals. The top highlight for us was the private safaris, our expert guide helped us see a leopard, wild elephants, crocodile, wild boar, jackels, many birds and other creatures. We took the afternoon and morning safaris. The lunch was another highlight, the best Sri Lankan meal we have had, utterly delicious and served to us personally by the chef at our table overlooking the park. Our tent was well appointed, fitted with all mod cons including bathroom and AC. It does seem an expensive option, we only did one night, but it’s hard to find this level of personal service and exclusivity.

We loved our stay at Yala Safari camping.
The all inclusive package was well worth it, from the chef bringing us juices each day on arrival back from safari to our wine glasses being continuously topped up while enjoying our 5 course dinner with a breath taking view.
Achi our safari driver was amazing, with 13 year experience from a young age, he knew where to go and found us 3 leopards!!
The only down side was that there was only cold water for the bath tub and the shower which was not ideal for the 5am start of the safari. Mahesh the manager did say he would look into this.
Over all it exceeded our expectations and was well worth the price!
Thank you to Ravi, Shaluka the chef, Achi, Kelum and Dinu, you made our safari experience magical :)

If you are person who liked to take an adventure experience in South Africa, then you have same atmosphere at Yala Safari Camping Sri lanka. From the entrance of the location feel the high Oxygen level since this marvelous place is located middle in the jungle. Once you reach to the main deck you will see the best panoramic view in Yala and it make you feel that how lucky are to be there. This is one of best peaceful nature loving and ecofriendly resorts I have visited.
From the welcome to the checkout Staff and the owner Mahesh provided us a tremendous service. In here I should specially mention this, my mother is having some difficulties to walk and with this situation they provided a really good service to her at the entire premises. They were very friendly and had well enough knowledge to serve any kind of customer.
Our stay at the resort for two days and we were accommodated in the luxury tents provide you the luxury camping atmosphere. Those tents are very clean and tidy. Those days we were used to see the sunset and the sun rising from the hotel deck because that was saw amazing.
To the full board hotel package, we experienced best Srilankan style food and the safari ride in Yala Park also included in the hotel package were amazing with luxury jeeps with knowledgeable safari guides.
Finally, I would say, Respect to the excellent hospitality to the service did by Mahesh and his team. This trip was worth for the money we spent, and everything was beyond expected.

This is a unique boutique resort at yala with few cottages, but the uniqueness is amazing. We dined under the sky with full of stars, the sun rise was amazing where you see a huge area of forest to the highly elevated deck. Recommend the cottage close to the tank where you hear all noises of animals at night. Very calm, highly private and perfect entanglement with nature. The cottage is slightly elevated with a large space. It's not much hot as the cottage is surrounded by bushes and trees, but an amazing experience. Worth the extra penny we paid.

This is exactly the place to experience Yala NP. The property borders the park and is a short drive to the relatively quiet Katagamuwa gate of Block 1. The view from the restaurant overlooks a see of green and is visited by birds, giant squirrel and a sweet, shy deer.

The team that runs the camp has Yala in their blood. Mahesh & Achi took us on amazing drives through the park, spotting not only leopard, but cobra, mongoose, spotted deer, game birds hidden in trees and bear tracks on the path. Ravi & Kumara saw to our comfort during our stay. And the food! Sandamali prepared incredible meals for us, including some very local flavors and Ravi overflowing our table with plates of delicious items. Show up hungry, that’s all I can say.

We stayed for three nights, as we wanted every opportunity to get to know Yala. That also gave us time to include a boat safari, and visits to the Katharagama Sanctuaries and the temples at Situlpawwa. And possibly the best surprise, BREAKFAST. Early safari drives meant packed breakfast boxes, but sleeping in one morning to do a boat safari on the our last day meant we got to enjoy Sandamali’s fantastic Pittu, a first for us.

Remember, you are staying in the jungle and this is a camp. Mahesh and his team have created a very comfortable experience in a place that is constantly trying to be jungle, so expect a bug guest or two while you will also enjoy the various jungle animals that wander through. A lot of work has recently been done to the place to restore the restaurant to it’s pre-pandemic state.

Don’t rush through Yala. Take your time and if you decide to stay here, you will leave having made new friends and experienced something quite magical.

My family & a few of my friends (17 in total) spent a weekend at “Yala Safari Camping” recently. I am extremely happy to say that the stay was enjoyable, memorable, & cozy.
In addition, the food was simple, truly Sri Lankan & delicious. The owner Mahesh, an enthusiastic young person & his staff members from the locality were really friendly & treated us in a very professional manner during our stay.
I recommend this unique place for any nature lover, local or foreign, without any hesitation.

We have visited Yala National Park numerous times and stayed at a number of hotels. But Mahesh and his amazing team made sure that this visit was the most memorable one with a pleasant surprise!

I truly have nothing but good things to say about this amazing establishment. Located in the jungle, the view from the main deck is the best you can ever get on Yala. The staff is really humble, helpful and talented. They have put their hearts and souls together to give the guests an unforgettable experience. The luxury tents are spacious and gives you an unexpected comfort in the middle of the jungle.

We loved everything about this place! The very reason this place is ranked as excellent is the superb staff. We loved the food they made for us. The safari ride was also comfy and Achintha has a thorough knowledge on the fauna and flora in the vicinity. We will visit again. No doubt about that!!

We just came off a 2-day trip with Yala Safari Camping. Overall it was a really great experience and in many aspects we’d rate them 5, but there were a few areas that disappointed considering the price tag.

Location & facilities: Absolutely superb location in the park and the commons area on a platform overlooking the park is truly amazing! The tents were also great overall but very run down with holes in the beddings and mosquito nets.

Service: Top class. Everyone from the owner to the staff at the camp and the safari drivers were very nice and super service oriented, doing everything in their power to make our stay a nice one. Cannot emphasize this enough. Special mention to Mahesh, Ravi and the gentleman in the camp that looked like a Sri Lankan Morgan Freeman :) (his name escapes me).

Food: The food was a bit mixed. Generally good, especially lunch was superb, but dinner on the first night in particular was a big letdown. It did however seem like that may have been a one-off. A sentiment also shared by other guests there.

Safari: The drivers did everything in their power to give us a good experience and we managed to see all the big animals we set out to. We were however a bit disappointed as the itinerary we booked said we’d get to see 4 different zones, but in the end they wound up driving us through the same few roads in zone 1 for two days straight without consulting or telling us until right before leaving for each safari. This in particular was a big letdown.

Very very beautiful place. There are really nice views of the jungle all around. The tents have interiors nicer than most hotel rooms, i was genuinely not expecting to see such a nice interior when i opened the tent zip considering it is in the middle of the jungle. The food was good and staff was very friendly. Would recommend 100 percent 👌
