Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our host Karen was Sensational!! An extremely knowledgeable local guide whose experience provided vast information and tips for amazing dining experiences, outings, and adventures. This information including a stunning place to propose to my fiancée. (She said Yes) Karen's hot delicious breakfasts were comfort food at its best, including Dutch baby pancakes, frittata, and hot coffee. We enjoyed many delightful conversations and breakfasts with Karen during our stay. The accommodations were comfortable and the setting was serene. Our suite provided a king bed and ensuite bathroom. There was an additional twin bed in the space if you needed it. The room was cozy and well appointed. The bed was solid and the mattress plush. Restful slumber awaits. The location of the property provides a stunning sunset view from the third floor deck. This also served as a nice quiet sanctuary for our morning coffee. This property is minutes from the Tunnel View entrance at Yosemite and closer still to Glacier Point Road. It allows easy access to Yosemite Valley, El Portal, Mariposa Grove, and Oakhurst. We will definitely be back. What a treat! Thank you Karen for being such a delightful host.

We had a fantastic 4-night stay here, with three jam-packed days of hiking trails, waterfalls, stunning mountain views & bears! Karin is a superb host, offering her best hiking recommendations and setting us up with a perfect hot breakfast each morning. This B&B is inside the park, meaning that you can avoid the horrendous queues and hit the trails as soon as you've had breakfast. Enjoy!

My wife and I had a lovely time in Room 2 at Yosemite West High Sierra BnB. The hosts Karen and Ally were friendly and always asked if we needed anything. We ended up having the whole place to ourselves for 4 nights, due to others' cancellations, so we got a great deal. Karen knows Yosemite incredibly well and advised us on parking, biking, hiking trails every day! It was nice respite from the long days of hiking. We would definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful experience at Yosemite West High Sierra B&B! It was very clean, quiet, and decorated beautifully! Our hosts were very knowledgeable of the area and helped plan our outings each day. Karen and her daughter were very kind and thoughtful. We stayed 3 nights at the Yosemite West B&B. The place was well kept and clean. The proprietor was friendly and helpful with information about the park. The breakfasts were tasty. Important things to know about the place-- it is up about 80 steps so you have to be able to climb multiple flights up with your bags at 5000 ft of altitude. Also it is a bit warm in the summer given the heat. Overall a good B&B experience in the park and you don't have to worry about getting a park permit since staying there gets you one automatically. Would recommend it.

Karen is a wonderful host and also great at helping us plan our hikes each day, in particular pointing out the best secret trails. We felt very welcome. The house is very comfortable and immaculately kept. By far the best place to stay in the park.

My wife and I spent 8 nights at the YWHS, June 1-9, 2021. You can trust all the 5-star reviews. This is a great place to stay when you come to Yosemite NP. It is located in Yosemite West, so that you are more or less within Yosemite NP. This is the best possible location, because you do not have to drive in and out of the park each day. The owner, Karen, and her daughter, Ali are Yosemite experts, so that you get reliable guidance about where to go, and when. I changed my entire vacation plan from mid-May to early June, based upon Karen's input. As a result, my wife and I were able to see and explore much more of Yosemite. We stayed in Room 4, which is perfect for a longer stay. It has its own entrance, a very good bed, a great shower and it is very clean. Karen or Ali prepares a delicious complimentary breakfast each morning. The sunsets from the balcony are truly beautiful. I know we had a superior Yosemite experience because I talked to Karen (well in advance) and stayed at her place. This B & B was just the best. I will never forget our Yosemite vacation and our wonderful stay at Yosemite West High Sierra.

We just got back from our Yosemite 4 night getaway and had a wonderful experience at High Sierra. The owner, Karen, was very friendly and accommodating. We rented the studio apartment on the first floor; it is beautiful and cozy. We watched the sunset every day from our deck. Karen gave us some great pointers on where to go for the most beautiful views and when to go to avoid large crowds. She even had a travel crib ready for our 8 month old baby so we didn’t have to bring ours on the flight. I highly recommend this place. It is lovely.

We have been visiting Yosemite for over 30 years. We have stayed in several different campgrounds in the valley (some no longer exist after the floods of 1997), at the Yosemite Lodge (econo lodge furnishing in the valley), bed&breakfast outside the park, campgrounds north of the valley along Tioga Pass road and at Yosemite West High Sierra. Why choose Yosemite West High Sierra? Location!! Yosemite West High Sierra is located just off the road that connects Yosemite Valley with Wawona at the junction with Glacier Point Road. This location makes it an ideal starting point for your day, whether your journey is to the south (Wawona and the big trees of Mariposa Grove), the east (out to Glacier Point), north (Yosemite Valley) or “far North (Tioga Pass Road). By starting your day in Yosemite West you avoid all the traffic on the eastern part of the valley with campsites and Yosemite Lodge. Staff This is a family run business with an incredibly knowledgeable staff. If this is your first trip to the park, they can help find the right trail, vistas etc for your level of skill and fitness. Possibly even an unpublished hint on where to pick up a trailhead and avoid parking issues. They worked really hard to make sure our trip was memorable. Furnishings. We stayed in the Sunset View Retreat Apartment. We were a party of five and had plenty of space for sleeping and two bathrooms help with getting an efficient start to the day. The kitchen has all modern conveniences so you can either cook meals at home or prepare your packable lunches for the day...oh and the view out the deck is amazing. Finally, and often overlooked is ease of booking a reservation. When we stay in campsites of the Yosemite Lodge, we had to play the “booking game” of scheduling months in advance on the exact day and minute the slots opened, often not able to secure a site/room which resulted in us having to move our trip until we could get accomodations. With Yosemite West High Sierra, it was a simple phone call to a real person who confirmed and booked our reservation. Considerations. (1) LOTS of steps if you have bad knees or hips you’ll need to take your time but they have very sturdy steps and handrails but the view is amazing when you get there! (2) because this is a family run business their cancellation policy is very strict. I have read other posts that people are unhappy if they need to cancel, however their contract is very clear and should be no surprise. They were very clear beforehand and at the time of booking about buying insurance if you think for ANY reason you may need to cancel. Summary. If you are planning a trip to Yosemite and looking for a centrally located place to “call home” I highly recommend Yosemite West High Sierra. While we stayed in the apartment, they do have B&B rooms as well.
