Wayfinder Waikiki stands out for its charming ambiance, fusing modern Hawaiian decor with a touch of vintage, which guests have called out as delightful. While travelers frequently commend the friendly staff and the hotel's prime location close to beach and attractions, some have raised concerns about noise and safety. Room opinions are mixed, with praise for their views and design but criticism regarding size and noise. Although valued for its affordability, the hotel faces mixed reviews on overall value due to additional costs and billing issues.

I love this hotel. It is at a great location. The Waikiki beach is just like 10 min away walking. It seems like they have just renovated the property. I could still smell the fresh wood. Nice food nearby. What I love the most is their linens and towels are white and fresh cleaned. Probably bring flip flops or slippers as the floor is a bit sandy, which makes sense, because the hotel is close to the beach.

I loved the amenities provided by the hotel. They offered free beach towels, beach chairs & boogie boards which was convenient. My only subpar review is regarding the AC in the room. It gets a little loud when trying to adjust to the preferred temperature. At times, it disrupted my sleep.

Nick's stretch class was awesome! We went on 2 classes, and he did a variation from the first class on our second day, as to not be monotonous. He's engaging, patient & welcoming. It was an excellent start of our morning.

Suggestion: Since most guests have rental cars, a service where we can have the car cleaned & gas filed up would be an outstanding service, for an additional fee, of course. Maybe a contracted car wash service affiliated with the hotel.

Husband and I stayed her for 5 nights. Our room overlooked the river and Diamond Head. When the wind blew, it howled through the aluminum door. Not a large room but nice balcony and nicely and attractively appointed.
Service was sketchy. We had difficulty in having the room serviced and getting a full compliment of towels when requested. Confusion at front desk meant other guests unlocked our room and entered thinking it was their allocated room. The pool is gorgeous.
It is close to restaurants and city attractions. As everything in Hawaii incurs extra charges, this hotel is close to several ABC shops which are good value for food and souvenirs. Food at Wayfinder was satisfactory but it was disconcerting to be told if we rated it highly we would receive a 20% discount. Tiny bathroom and not much space for suitcases.

My family and I were really looking forward to our stay at The Wayfinder Waikiki as it is a new hotel but our expectations were not met. We decided to book the Pool House Studio for 6 nights as I was traveling with my husband and two kids. As soon as we pulled up to the hotel things seemed a bit off but we checked in and hoped for the best. The location of the hotel is a few blocks away from Waikiki beach which we knew when booking but the area itself seemed very sketchy and unsafe. We are from NYC so for us to feel that way initially that was very telling. The room matched the images online and so did the other areas of the hotel. The atmosphere around the hotel is what you can't see from the images online. The pool area is not private and right next to some sort of apartment complex and the hotel is surrounded by other private apartment residences. Like another review said their was noise all night long coming from around the hotel. Our room was also missing serveral items that we needed to request such as towels, sheets for the pullout bed and toiletries. These items were delivered quickly but for a new arrival the room should be stocked. We were very unhappy and we decided that we weren't going to be able to stay at this hotel like we planned. I went to the front desk and checked with the staff that I wouldn't face any penalties for checking out earlier than planned and she assured me that I would not and would only pay for the night we stayed. From there I began looking for another hotel which wasn't easy as this was during the time of the Maui fires so many people were being relocated to other islands and many hotels were at full capacity. This was not what we planned but we also wanted to enjoy our vacation and this was not going to happen at Wayfinder. I was able to find another hotel which we ended up being extremely happy with.

Upon checking out the next morning from Wayfinder I was told that I would be emailed my final bill. This was back in August and now 6 months later I have never recieved anything from Wayfinder. I was charged for the initial 6 night stay instead of the 1 night that we stayed. I have tried to contact Wayfinder via email but was never contacted back regarding this issue. I am very disappointed by this unprofessionalism and hope that my situation can be rectified soon.

Slept well, great location within walking distance to the beach and tons of shops. Good food, nice pool, hot tub and gym area. Parking is only valet $45 a night and it’s first come first serve they say you can park on the street but not sure where it’s always full.

Paid for premium corner room on floors 10-13, but assigned a room on 9th floor with view of other buildings. When I questioned paying for higher class room on floors 10-13 (per their rate description), I was told it's the same type just on floor 9. The rate for premium corner room w/nicer views of Diamond Head/canal specifically listed as floors 10-13.
I brought issue up again at checkout, was told they would refund $35 and given I receipt (which I asked for). However, I was STILL charged full amount but got lower rate room.

More work needs to be done in guest rooms. Definitely lipstick on a pig.

My husband and I stayed here for our "babymoon", we got a premium corner room facing the mountain range and it was super romantic to sit on the balcony in the morning to watch the sunrise. Wayfinder Waikiki has thought of everything that would make your stay better, the receptionist gives you a card with their personal recommendations upon check in and also offers free rentals to make your beach day more fun! The vintage modern Hawaiian decor throughout the hotel is so chic, from the rooms to the pool! The location is perfect, only a 6 minute walk to the beach and the main strip, plus an ABC store on the same block! My husband loved the "Grown Alchemist" bath products in the bathroom and the comfortable king size bed. Staff from reception, valet, restaurants and housekeeping were very friendly and welcoming, which we also loved. Everything was perfect for our babymoon and we would love to stay here again!

My girlfriend and I took a little pre-birthday staycation trip and booked a stay at the Wayfinder-Waikiki. It was really just a quick little stay, but it was very welcoming, comfortable, and accommodating!
It's not far from the main Waikiki strip, and a short walk to the International Marketplace, so not a bad spot, nicely hidden away, off the beaten path in a way.
The welcome staff at the valet parking and front desk were top-notch, both professional and warmly friendly. We showed up about an hour before our reservation and they were still prepping the room, but they were gracious enough to hold our bags while we scampered away for a late lunch!
We were greeted upon our return and were promptly given our room key and belongings. The room was nicely furnished, and had a cute surfer vibe. They had some vinyl records and a record player available for use, a nice-sized television. The refrigerator was cute! And it kept things nicely cold for us. There was also a microwave oven for use, though we didn't need to at all.
The bathroom was nice and clean! It was a good size, not particularly spacious, but also not cramped as I've experienced in other hotels. The entire room was also nicely furnished, including pertinent toiletries in the bathroom, and two sets of towels.
The bed was nice and comfortable, with a good balance of firmness and softness. It was a little warmer than I'd have preferred, even with the A/C turned up to max, but not altogether warm. It was cool, I just like it cold, but otherwise, given how warm it was outside, the A/C was putting in work, haha!
We also stayed in one of the pool-side rooms, so it was nice and convenient to get down to the pool and then come back up. It's a 3-to-4-foot deep pool, so nice enough to chill and lounge in, and the hot tub was nice. There's also a small bar right by the poolside for those who may like a little drink or two while they lounge poolside.
Altogether, I was very pleased with our stay. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm able to take off and am not planning a trip off-island!

Aloha, Michae. It is wonderful to hear that you and your girlfriend enjoyed your pre-birthday staycation at Wayfinder Waikiki. We are delighted that our welcoming atmosphere, comfortable accommodations, and prime location just off the main Waikiki strip added to your experience. Our team at valet parking and the front desk takes great pride in providing professional yet friendly service, and it is heartening to know they made a positive impression on you. It is fantastic to hear that the surfer-themed room, vinyl records, and amenities contributed to the charm of your stay, and that the convenience of our poolside room allowed you to easily enjoy both the pool and hot tub. We appreciate your note about the A/C, and we are pleased it still kept you comfortable despite the warm weather outside. Your positive reflections on the thoughtful room touches, including the comfortable bed and clean facilities, mean a lot to us. Mahalo nui loa for your kind words, and we look forward to welcoming you back whenever you feel like indulging in another island staycation. A hui hou!

Great overall experience. I booked through the Amex Hotel Collection, and the front desk went out of their way to get me an available upgrade to a room with a view. The location is an easy walk to the beach, and I took advantage of the complimentary beach chair rental. I enjoyed all 3 food and beverage locations, and was very happy with the quality from all 3. Prices are reasonable, especially during their happy hour.

I spent plenty of time at the pool/hot tub where they also offered sunscreen, which seems minor, but came in clutch as I failed to pack any. Nice fitness center. I did a E Ola Koa circuit class, and Brenn was awesome. Highly recommend doing this complimentary class if given the opportunity.

This hotel was exactly what I need for my stay in the Waikiki area, and I ended up extending the stay during my trip. Highly recommend!

Aloha, it is wonderful to hear that your time at Wayfinder Waikiki offered the perfect blend of relaxation and convenience for your stay. Our team is delighted that the room upgrade and the view added to your enjoyment and that our location made exploring Waikiki effortless. It is great to know you made use of the beach chair rentals and found the thoughtful touches like complimentary sunscreen helpful during your time by the pool. Your experience with the E Ola Koa circuit class and Brenn’s guidance sounds invigorating, and we are thrilled you embraced the opportunity to connect with our wellness offerings. The culinary experiences at our three dining venues and the value of happy hour clearly resonated, and we are grateful to hear such positive feedback. Extending your stay with us is the ultimate compliment, and it would be a pleasure to welcome you back for another memorable visit. Mahalo nui loa, and a hui hou.

We booked a corner king room with a lanai. When we arrived, we were told the hotel was overbooked, our room was no longer available, and that we were given a "free upgrade". When we got into our room, we realized immediately it was a major downgrade. It was a second floor pool room that was stuffy, dingy/dated, had no lanai, and only one small window overlooking a loud parking lot. The fridge did not work, nor did the air conditioning. There was a DJ at the pool 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. The noise level from both music and people was extremely disruptive. We immediately notified the hotel of our desire to have our original room, and were told that was not possible because the hotel was overbooked. I was told a manager would reach out to me. I followed up 4 times at the front desk, I called twice and sent an email. Management (or anyone for that matter) refused to get back to me until 5 hours after we had checked out of this hotel. Not only was our room not resolved, but the issues we experienced (no working AC, no working fridge, smelly, stuffy room) were also not resolved. We paid extra in hopes of having a nice stay, and would definitely never stay here again. If you are considering this hotel - beware.

Would you recommend a month long stay in this hotel for two reasonably active seniors?
Answer from Rowan G

Hi, I'm a 60 year old who recently stayed at this hotel with my (same aged) wife and teenage daughter. We really liked it. However we were there for less than a week, and spent the rest of our trip to Waikiki in the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Although the WW is great, I fear that it might become a bit much for a month long stay. It's very much a 'hip' hotel, focused on trendy design and young couples. Most of the action is centred around the pool and its lounges, which are occupied from 10 - 6pm with beautiful people in their 20s and 30s. Modern music provided by DJs also often features. And the location is not especially central to other points of interest. I'd suggest that you spend some of your trip there, but that a whole month might become a tad tiresome.
