I had ready many reviews before staying in this hotel and have to agree with many of them. I expected a beautiful lobby, the graceful banyan tree with beach bar and convenient location and the Moana did not disappoint.

This is my go-to place for Honolulu and it continues to be the one! Always dependable, solid, and hospitable.
+ Shoutout Juria K. for being totally amazing
+ People working here seem to be way happier and engaged than those at Royal Hawaiian

Can't comment on the Alohilani but I've been frequenting the Moana since 1979 and stayed as recently as Jan 1 for a few days. Time, and fitting into the plans of others meant I did not stay as long as I wanted. Guess this is testimony to my preference and therefore recommendation.
The Moana is an old school establishment, to be enjoyed and not rushed. In the old building the rooms are a tad small but very comfortable. This is not a slick, polished generic place. It has charm and reeks of a bygone era. Enjoy, hope these comments help🌴
