Stayed at the Menger for Thanksgiving. Yes it is historic, but depending on what side of the hotel you stay on determines comfort level. Our room was tiny. Bathtub faucet had rust colored water. Valet service is a JOKE. $35 a day and it takes a minimum of 30 mins to get your car. No one knows how to manage the valet service. Waited outside in cold & rain for almost an hour. Our car was also parked in front of the hotel (by valet) for almost 4 hours with sunroof open (again by the valet) and completely unlocked. Upon arriving back from our walking adventure, I tried one of the doors and it was open. I then proceeded to open all doors, and even the hatchback and NO ONE EVEN GLANCED MY WAY! I could have been someone else and stolen the car and they wouldn’t have noticed. When valet service is all that the hotel offers for parking, you would expect the valets to be prepared for check out time especially on a holiday weekend. Nope. Another hour wait and then they park the car way at the end so we can’t get the luggage carrier to the car. So then they had to back it up and go back around and wait again so that we could get luggage and two babies in the car. Then they were so rude telling us we had to move when we were trying to get babies in car seats. Everyone around us was complaining. Everyone was frustrated and all the valets could do was walk in circles because they had no idea of how to properly run a valet service. This alone ensures that I will NEVER stay at the Menger again!

Hotel's Favourite
Very well kept. Beautiful room. Delicious morning coffee. Polite bell persons. Nice clean pool. Comfortable pool chairs. Great historic pictures throughout that made us want to spend a day just going around looking at and reading them.

Dear josephgal, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments on TripAdvisor. I was so pleased to hear about or associates, the vintage photos that line our lobby corridor and the pool. Please know that I share your love of our hotel coffee. It makes my morning and its as full bodied and smooth as Starbucks. Thank you for braving the headlines to visit us. My mom, aunt, and I visited the Menger for my mom’s birthday. Our favorite thing about the hotel was the hospitality of the staff. We were greeted by Tony at valet drop off. Tony is the nicest, sweetest, and most helpful person there! He made our stay fun and made us feel like family there! Also-loved the Christmas decor! We’re so glad the place was all decked out before our trip! Thank you Menger, and thank you Tony for a wonderful time!

I stayed there with my family earlier this month. Diego Macias was the valet who first greeted us at the car and I was impressed with his service. He helped us with our luggage and helped us up to our room. He was quick with a smile and very attentive and informative. Throughout our stay he helped us several times and was constant with the great service, and of course went to get our car for us a few times. He is truly appreciated and we will definitely be back!

We are San Antonio locals and have stayed at The Menger about 3 times in two years. This visit started off on a bad foot with valet and an issue on their parking policy. However, Jonathan Garza saves the day and went well above and beyond to turn the situation around. We were this close to canceling our reservation but he has good customer service and helped us. Kudos to him! We love the hotel too and the fact that it’s dog friendly.
