Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Large hotel with good access to lots of the local tourist activities. As noted in other reviews, there is a bit of a noise factor, it staying high up helps. I have stayed here 3 times now on conferences. Previously, I alway requested and received a low floor. This time I decided to try the higher ones. I can still hear the music from the river walk, but not so much to be annoying. Definitely better on the side away from the street. I used the exercise facility this time and was pleased. Nothing over the top, but it had all the right equipment and it was all clean and functional. The locker rooms and sauna are nice. The hotel food is not good enough to warrant the prices and there are so many other great places around. You can walk on the river walk or inside the attached mall

We went to San Antonio with two separate purposes... My husband for a conference and me to tour about the area. This was the assigned conference hotel so we didn't review prior to arrival. Check in was smooth, they offered an upgrade to a view room of the city for an extra $20/night but we declined as it had two double beds and we preferred the King. There's a Starbucks just off the lobby for your morning fix. We stayed in room 2401. The room was clean and simple, king bed, desk, Average bathroom, Coffee service tray and safe are in room. There is no fridge. The usual suspects for bathroom amenities were citrus scented. I didn't find a recycling bin in the room. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were very small and flat or stuffed and fat.. not my personal

Clearly a nice Marriott property geared for business travel. Close enough to everything. Staff so helpful ...got excellent restaurant advice and assistance from concierge. Very nice lounge...has a balcony. Not enough time for everything but would like to come back with family for a visit.

This last December, 2012, we were regrettably disappointed by the decline of this Marriott Hotel as compared to Marriott's reputation for excellence. The bed was very uncomfortable, the walls exceedingly thin compared to current standards of other motels we have stayed in within the $90.00 - $140.00 range, thus, the noise factor was higher than normal. The carpet's condition was showing obvious signs of wear and was due for replacement. The bathroom was very small, again, in comparison to other hotel-motel standards of today. Parking at the hotel was expensive, so we opted for a separate parking facility. We hope the Marriott will be considering upgrading this facility in the near future. For sure, we will be looking for other accommodations for our next visit to San

Response from MarioJBass, Guest Relations Manager at San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk
Responded 17 Jan 2013
Thank you for your response regarding our guest rooms. We are keeping all responses to share with our ownership. Hotel room packages and décor are continually changing to stay functional and fashionable. Our parent company, Marriott International is constantly researching new products that will distinguish all our different brands. We will expect to see a new more modern product at the completion of our next room renovation.

I was here for two nights. Honestly I would probably give this three stars due to the overall age of the hotel, but the location (200 yards from the real Riverwalk and DIRECTLY across from the convention center), view and service pushed it to four. First off, I had one of those strange Marriott bookings where the first night was $X and the second night, the rate bumped up $X + $70. I wasnt too happy about this and its always difficult to explain on an expense report. But upon check-in they changed both nights to the lower rate and upgraded me to a top floor river facing view. Great service which I didnt even ask for. A reason I would return again. The room itself was large but dated. They have re-done the lobby but the room carpeting, lighting and bath were all dated.

Very pleased with our stay here. A Saturday night, big bowl game in town, we walked down the riverwalk and back to our hotel. So loud and crazy downtown and so quiet and peaceful in our room. We were on the 6th floor and paid extra for a room overlooking the riverwalk. This hotel is right at the end of the riverwalk busy section...so your balcony overlooking the river is quiet and very pretty but when you step out of the hotel and onto the riverwalk and go about 50 yards around the corner...hustle and bustle. Beds were pleasant and hotel amenities were very nice. One note...don't use your iphone maps to find this hotel. Use Google. Iphone maps put us 8 miles away at a different city even when we type in the address of this hotel. I asked at the front desk and they have

We were really happy with this hotel. The concierge was wonderful and always helpful. We paid extra for a riverwalk view- so worth it. We could sit outside and people watch and watch an unbelievable sunset. It was so easy to get around. One of our favorite vacations ever.

We stayed at this hotel November 21st through November 25th. We were celebrating our 36th anniversary and wanted to have a memorable stay. My husband tried to arrange to have flowers and champagne in the room when we arrived and was told by the front desk that the manager would call him back..never did. We bought wine for the room, no corkscrew, desk said they would bring one to our room..never did, had to buy one. RW parade was a joke as was the pricey buffet you had to buy to have seats on the RW. Food and selection were very poor. Cost over $200 for 2. Need chairs on balcony. Rpoom was adequate. Bartender was awesome, he gave us a great recommendation for dinner and he was very frendly. Spa was great, too cold for pool.

Beautiful Balcony Room over the river. Merry Christmas to me. Staff was Very nice and friendly. Room clean. Fitness area nice. No hot tub only a very small and old pool. Left our dinner early to hurry back before the pool closed to relax. Made it down there with 15 minutes to spare all the time we needed. NO security was already locking it up. VERY sad on Christmas not to be able to finish the evening and relax. Most hotels do not lock up early usually a couple minutes late. Pool was dirty and old so really was not worth it.

We stayed Dec 31 thru Jan 1. This is our first time at this hotel. The pros, It's on the riverwalk, near a parking garage, directly behind, for only 9.00$ per 24 hour period. No in and out. Walking distance to restaurants, attractions, shopping. Check out from your room to avoid crowds. The cons would be rooms, dated, small, elevators were slow. There are only 4 elevators, we were on the 30th floor. The other 2 elevators go down to parking and RW. Restrooms were also small. They do provide ear protection because of the city noise. Beds were firm, but we slept comfortable. We love staying on the RW b/c we don't have to drive after a few drinks. We would return to this hotel if nothing else is available and ask for a low floor.
