Detailed Reviews
Great place to stay! Super close to the park entrance, spacious clean rooms, clearly they’ve recently been redone. Get a room with a balcony and view of the park. We saw elk in the parking lot! The owners were very accommodating. They helped us with a grill to use by the pool and even brought fresh linens late at night after my kid spilled water in bed. Very nice people working here. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I really liked this hotel/motel. I typically stay at chain hotels such as Best Western, Hyatt, or Hilton. Estes is full of privately owned lodging. Many of them looked very welcoming. Our room at The Alpine Trail Ridge Inn was given a face-lift: painted walls, new carpet, new bedding. It was still very clean and fresh. We had the two double beds. Plenty of room around the beds. We paid the extra $20 and got a room with a balcony. To enjoy as much fresh air as we could, we opened both doors and the cool breeze flowed through the whole room. Our room, 135, had the balcony facing out to the road. It didn't bother us at all. Once the sliding glass door closed it was quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony chairs watching the elk feeding and stopping traffic as they cross the street. Each room gets an assigned parking stall that is close to your room. Don´t let the lower price fool you. It´s a nice place.

This is an older facility but the managers were very friendly and helpful. They are working to make some upgrades. The location is good but parking is tight. Do not bring a trailer here.
The bathroom was small but very clean and functional. I like that it had a shower/tub combo with good water pressure and abundant hot water.
I recommend the excellent strong coffee in the office, which opens around 7:30 am.
The balcony room had a nice view. After dark the traffic on Hwy 36 quiets down as few cars are heading up to the National Park that late.
Beds were comfortable, microwave and fridge worked fine.
Noise does carry here so please keep your voices soft in the evening to avoid disturbing other guests.

The location was nice, room was clean when we entered and the beds were pretty comfortable, but that’s about as far as it goes. There wasn’t a blow dryer or any laundry bags in the room. We needed a toothbrush and there weren’t any available at the office even for purchase and the person working actually laughed when we asked. When we got in for the evening there were a ton of flying ants or termites in the room and no one was in the office to report it to. We put our maid service sign out and no one cleaned the room the next day. We were hoping to have them clean up the bugs we smooshed, empty the garbage, and give us fresh towels. The door didn’t close well either and made us a bit uneasy when we left the room. I won’t choose this property again.

Avoid at all costs. After being "double-booked" and placed in a room with only one bed (for platonic friends), we were promised a partial refund. I made multiple attempts going to the front office, as well as several phone calls after my stay, and every time they strung me along with a different excuse, and promised the money was on its way. It never came.
The rolling cot they did provide was horribly uncomfortable, with sharp springs jabbing my back every night. Truly an awful experience.

Response from Amanda Mccallister, General Manager at Alpine Trail Ridge Inn
Responded 27 Aug 2023
Hi Theron, First let me start out by saying neither me or my husband are thieves!! We did the best we could to accommodate you and your (platonic friend) after the third party you booked through overbooked the hotel. Neither me or my husband are receiving any money at all for your stay so I am very confused on how we are thieves? I do understand that you didn't have the experience that you were hoping for I do apologize for that. As far as a refund goes you stopped in twice at the office I stated I would have to speak with the owner about that. You never did a follow up call ever, well not while I was here which is 24/7. Thank you for the review

Amanda, knowing full well that someone who books through a 3rd party site needs to cancel through them, told my family member that she'd take care of the cancelation and there was nothing to worry about as of September 27th at 6:12 pm. Talk about taking advantage of someone who isn't tech savvy and was just trying to do something nice. She apparently will do anything to keep money. Sad.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience caused regarding the cancellation process. Our team takes customer satisfaction seriously, and we appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention. We would like to clarify that our policy states that cancellations made through a third-party site need to be processed via the same platform to ensure a smooth transaction. However, it seems there was a misunderstanding in this instance, and we apologize for any confusion . Rest assured, we will address this matter internally and use it as an opportunity to improve our communication and customer service. Our goal is to provide a seamless experience for all our guests, regardless of their technological expertise. This is most like a motel. I stayed in a room with balcony. The room was clean and big. Confortable beds and pillows. The location is great if you’re visiting the RMNP but I think it is very expensive for what it is. The air conditioning is extremely noisy. I don’t think I will return.

Thank you Talina for the honest review. Our office closes at 6:30 as it states after you booked. But we are on property 24/7 as we tell everyone and as it states on the paper on the door. If you had a problem with your air conditioner all you had to do is call the office we would have been happy to come fix that for you. Sorry your stay wasn't what you expected,

We had a great stay at Alpine Trail Ridge Inn! The king balcony room was very spacious and had great amenities (two-person table, wardrobe, plenty of dresser space). Also, the location can't be beat! Bird and Jim’s is in the same parking lot and has excellent food and drinks. Walkable are several other very good restaurants, a liquor store, a grocery store, and a couple other stores. The Beaver Meadows entrance to RMNP is very close. There is no hot tub but there is a rec center in town with a nice outdoor hot tub that we were able to buy day passes to use. Overall, a very pleasant stay!
Took off one star only because the bathroom is on the small side and there wasn't a hot tub on site. Still, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

We enjoyed our room so much. Two moms and 2 daughters for a girls trip. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the air conditioner was AMAZING. The sliding screen door was ajar in our room - 133?, but who cares! Lots of clean towels and a nice shower. You won't be disappointed. An ice machine was right around the corner and you can walk to the Bird's Nest right down the back street. Would definitely return.

Hi SunnyBlu, Yes it is, we actually have a stop located on our property.
Hey Sowmya! I don't know of any that are solely vegetarian, however, there are many places around here that have vegetarian options available. In fact, we have 5 restaurants within walking distance that should be able to meet your needs. As far as the hiking goes, yes, there are many areas to hike that have plenty of shade! Right up the road there is a beautiful lake called Mary's Lake that has tons of shade. There is also Big Thompson River that runs all throughout the town and there are big beautiful shaded areas that would be great for picnics with plenty of wildlife and raging river to enjoy. When you get here we can map it all out for! We look forward to your stay! See you soon! Ryan - General Manager
Sorry for the delay in answering, we have had some technical difficulties with our hand shaking abilities in the computer. Some have answered correctly. Be prepared for any weather, yesterday 3" of snow, today 60. Very unpredictable.
Thanks for asking.
Sorry to take so long in answering Melissa. We have a few great restaurants near us & in walking distance. Smokin Dave's Barbecue is a local favorite & two restaurants nearby give our guests a 10% discount, The Otherside Restaurant and Coffee on the Rocks. We have been busy re-modeling our front office and some of the rooms in our front building and have added a brand new hot tub near our pool area. There is an excellent shuttle service in Estes Park.
