Hotel's Favourite
5.0 of 5 bubbles
The Blue Door Inn was our first lodging during our 2 week Colorado road trip this summer. This was also my favorite lodging during that time as well.

The size of the room was good enough. Nothing fancy or large, but good for what we needed. Fridge/microwave and enough as we would be spending the next 2 days in Rocky Mountain National Park anyway.

From our room window we saw rabbits, ground squirrels, and a marmot. That was pretty cool. We also saw a deer by the parking lot.

There is a pool, hot tub, cornhole, shuttleboard, bench swing, and a campfire area. We utilized cornhole and the campfire. They even offer FREE marshmallows and sticks for guests. My dad said he hadn’t done that in like 20 years! It was lots of fun and FREE.

They also have a fun breakfast and it’s pretty good. Not just cereal and pastries, but they had some hot items too.

Great, friendly customer service too.

My only issue was that they have 1 washer and 1 dryer available. Had to wait around for other guests to finish.

Nice to have activities around the hotel. Made the hotel more fun and more like an experience than just a “place to stay for the night.” Highly recommend and would definitely return.

Thank you for stopping by to give us your feedback. I can't express how happy it makes me to read, we were your favorite lodging! We aim to make your stay amazing from check-in to check-out. We want every guest to return. We are an older Hotel, but keep it in tip top shape. Estes Park is the mecca for wildlife viewing, and occasionally so is our backyard. Our daily live music, campfire and marshmallow roasting are a must do while staying here, and an amazing way to end any evening. We have quite a few activities to do while staying here, and we will just keep adding on to them. Our complimentary continental breakfast is a great way to start your morning, especially with our hot options! If we ever expand the first thing we will do is add more washer and dryers. I hope to see you on your next visit to Estes Park, and thank you once again for this wonderful review. Sincerely, Management

We stayed here for one night on a driving trip from the east coast to the national parks in Colorado and Utah. It is interesting how different hotels have responded to the Covid crisis. We have aimed to be extra cautious even bringing Lysol wipes along to be sure our room was clean. At the Blue Door Inn we were very impressed as we entered the room. Everything was spotless. I have never seen such a pure white unwrinkled bed. In addition the room was very well lite with a fridge that had a freezer section, a very clean microwave, a modern green Keurig maker with k-cups and higher end toiletries. The way they did breakfast was great. There is a menu in each room with all the breakfast items available. You can either pick it up or they will deliver. We had to leave early the next morning so they gave us ours the night before. Oh, and did I mentioned the beautiful trees lite in blue.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. We really do aim to go "above and beyond" which is why our slogan is "step beyond ordinary". We love hearing that you enjoyed your clean room. Our housekeeping staff is working extra hard to keep the room clean and sanitized this year. It is always appreciated when their efforts are noticed. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our new "grab and go" or "delivery" breakfast. We are finding that it works well to keep breakfast for our guests and still keep social distancing in place. We are adapting to the new ways and we are happy to hear that it's enjoyable for our guests. We sincerely appreciate your feedback! Kind Regards, Jackie Robinson General Manager/Owner

Estes Park is not the kind of town where you find name brand hotels. I do not think there is a single location of a chain hotel in the area. The Blue Door in was a great option for our family. It was clean and safe and in a great location to make our way into the Rocky Mountain National park. There were breakfast limits for COVID restrictions, but the front desk guy was extremely friendly and helpful. They were offering continental breakfast options to-go. There was a menu in the room, and you could call the front desk and request muffins, oatmeal, etc. They would deliver it to your room.

The room was AC'd, which can sometimes be hard to find in the areas surrounding the RMNP. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat on our next trip through Estes Park. They were offering free live music around the neat pool and fire pit areas. It was a nice ambiance for such a chill location.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Door Inn. We felt safe and welcome. The room was clean, with comfortable beds and a hot shower with plenty of water pressure. The front desk people were very helpful - sharing where to hike, suggesting micro spikes for our shoes and where to rent them, and suggesting the Stanley Hotel for the tour (which we loved!), and a good price on a mountain ride. The micro spikes were amazing. We didn't slip on the ice once while hiking up to Alberta Falls. The continental breakfast was great; fruit, yogurt, packaged waffles, coffee, tea, water and a bit more. We also used the washer and dryer at $2 each in their clean and well-lit laundry room. We would stay here again!

I've reviewed the Blue Door Inn previously, but felt a desire to write another review based on a family trip just last week.

We were concerned about the family trip due to a wildfire in the area as well as the risk of traveling during the COVID pandemic. But, the staff at the Blue Door Inn went out of their way to make us feel at ease. Their communication in advance of our trip was very helpful. They provided updates as requested and made sure our rooms and the facility was as safe as possible regarding COVID.

The cleaning procedures they've put in place made us confident in bringing an at-risk family member and staying in the rooms. During our stay, daily room service was not performed, which eliminated exposure risks. But, whatever we needed, we were able to contact the staff and they took care of it without issue. My mother felt very comfortable at the facility and appreciated the efforts made by the staff.

Apart from the extra effort, the rooms and facilities were absolutely what we were wanting on our trip. The rooms have a fridge and microwave. The facility is clean and well taken care of. The pool area was kept clean. The view from the Balcony room was enjoyable and a definite plus.

Thanks to all the staff at the Blue Door Inn for their efforts and communication on our recent stay. With service and facilities like this, the Blue Door Inn will continue to be our "go-to" place to stay when visiting Estes Park.

I always love to stay in the older style of hotels where I can park my car right outside my door. I find it convenient to unload and load without carrying everything inside a lobby, up an elevator, and down hallways. The location of the Blue Inn is lovely and close to restaurants and downtown with mountain views. We were hiking 6-9 miles daily in Rocky Mountain National Park and appreciated the hot tub to ourselves and clean, warm swimming pool. The beds and bedding were clean and had fluffy comforters with soft, silky sheets. My husband says we will stay here when we return.

Great place! The location was perfect! Super close to the RMNP entrance and the Stanley hotel. Also really close to everything in the town. The owners are extremely nice and willing to give travel advice and suggestions. The beds were comfortable and the whole room was clean. The sheets smelt like Gain laundry detergent and the bathroom was spotless. The shower had an amazing shower head that felt like a rainfall that was very appreciated after a long cold hiking day at the park. Because of covid they did not have a daily maid service but anything you need, they provided at your request. Breakfast items were also available to be delivered to your rooms in the morning as well and coffee was served every morning in the lobby. The tv in the rooms had the Netflix app so you could log in to your account and watch Netflix. The owner also mentioned that he was working on making other tv apps available on the TVs too. The room and the bathroom had heaters of their own which was a nice touch and much appreciated after a snowy day! The only 2 things I can say that I didn’t like was the main door was wood and since wood expands and shrinks it did not close properly. It was able to be locked but the door just didn’t fit in the frame all that great (however the owner mentioned at check out that he is going to remove and replace the wood doors soon) and my other thing I didn’t like was the A/C unit is a little too loud for me when it’s running. But overall I still would 100% recommend staying at Blue Door Inn! We will definitely stay again the next time we visit Estes Park!

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Door Inn for 3 nights in late April 2021. Since it is one of the most inexpensive hotels in Estes Park, I was worried about what the quality would be like. However, it was outstanding! Our room was adorable and clean. The bathroom was a "real" bathroom, not a "hotel" bathroom, if that makes any sense :) There was a Keurig coffee maker and Kcups ready for the morning, and when I used them all up I was able to get more from the front desk for no charge. Since we stayed during COVID 19, we were able to order breakfast and have it delivered to our room, or pick it up in the lobby. I was able to get a breakfast packed the night before for mornings when we would be leaving before breakfast service started. You can sign into Youtube or Netflix on the room TVs, which was a nice plus. The staff was friendly, helpful and overall it was a great experience! 10/10 recommend for anyone staying in Estes Park who wants great quality for a lower price.

We stayed here for one night mainly because the cabin we were staying in was unavailable our first night in Colorado. We did our research and based on reviews and the news story about Covid cleaning policies we chose this Inn.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. We were in room 212 second floor corner. It had two walls of windows and was open & airy. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig machine.
Beds were comfortable and we all slept great!
We had gone to the front desk for more wash cloths but once we opened the rolled towels on the shelf in the bathroom, we realized it wasn’t just a towel but a set including a wash cloth and hand towel.
Breakfast was really impressive in that they will deliver your choices directly to your room since Covid is restricting a continental breakfast buffet. Since we were leaving for RMNP at 7am, we were able to get our breakfast the night before. I thought that was above and beyond and really convenient for us.
As a random note, my kids loved the light up shower head but found it very difficult to tread lightly on the second story floors. The floor was a bit creaky so I apologize to whomever was beneath our room!
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!
(The pool and hot tub looked nice but we didn’t have time to use it ourselves)

We are happy to hear that you read our reviews prior to staying! We have a great reputation for having clean rooms and now we have shifted gears to be exceptionally clean and exceptionally sanitized! We know the importance of keeping our guests safe right now and we are using the electrostatic spray you saw on the news channel and we have recently added HEPA air filtration as well. You have the guarantee of sanitized surfaces and purified air! Breakfast is a simple start to your day (nothing hot or fancy) but it's definitely enough to get you started. We enjoy providing room service so that we can all stay socially distanced right now. We look forward to seeing you again next time your visit Estes Park! We stayed here for a recent visit to Rocky Mountain National Park. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We knew we would miss breakfast in the morning due to an early hike. After inquiring at the office, they gladly packed up a bagged breakfast which included a muffin, yogurt and banana. The coffee pot in the room was a Keurig and there were real containers of cream.

The pool and nightly live music are an additional benefit.
