Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing service and such friendly staff. Dogs are allowed here which made our family trip so special with a 10 month old too, and German Shepherd. They catered for all of us! Food was delicious and the mulled cider was AMAZING! From Canterbury, but we will defiantly come back as this has been the best family trip - and it was only for a night! Thank you to your amazing team.

Excellent meal and very friendly service. The restaurant was quite busy and the staff were apologetic that our meals might take a while but we were served promptly. The menu is simple but quite sufficient and offered a good range of options. Great open fireplace and a warm atmosphere in a big log cabin.

Staff make you feel at home. Jo is the best. Good food relaxed atmosphere, with plenty to do in the area. Our trip was part of a boys trip, fishing and hunting close by. We also went up the mountain which was fun.

We had dinner at the restaurant and it was way above our expectations. Super friendly staff, efficient service and our food was excellent. They have a ‘hot stone’ method for some meals so you receive a portion of meat and then you can slice and cook to perfection. Lot of fun and interactive !! Highly recommend.

Nice food here. However please note if you are booking to stay the Family rooms are actually out of action (although they will show up as Fully Booked on Booking.com etc) and children are not welcome in other rooms in case they disturbed other guests. As I said, nice homely food and log fire in dinning room. If you are nervous of COVID, be aware that staff are not wearing masks (Level 2 during Delta outbreak at time of visit).

My partner and I were so pleased with our skiing holiday based from Mt Lyford Lodge. Karen and Christi looked after us so we’ll with friendly bar service, great food and a roaring log fire. We loved having a long spa whilst watching the sun move off the mountains and the stars come out. Just the thing for achy ski legs. Fabulous sleep on a super comfy bed and a well appointed room with drying room facilities for our ski gear. We will be back next season!!

Our family had 9 days in the top of the South Island and the highlight was an awesome night at Mt Lyford lodge. After two days in Kaikoura, and on our way to Hanner Springs, the best decision we made was to stop half way at Mt Lyford lodge. Outdoor hot pool under the stars, food was awesome, roaring fire, the room was great, but what topped it all off was the service at all stages. We’ll be back!

We had a really enjoyable dining experience in the restaurant. The host was welcoming and had a genuine warmth and kindness about her. The food served was well presented and delicious. Catering for a FODMAP Diet was no hassle as they were eager to be helpful.
