This motel is exceptional, probably one of the best accommodations we stayed in during our trip in New Zealand.
The bedroom, kitchen area and bathroom were immaculate,
the owners maintain a very high standard to their rooms.
There is an allocated parking spot just outside each room and there is also a guest laundry room which is coin operated.
It is just a short walk into Franz Josef for cafes and restaurants.
I would highly recommend this motel.

Over the years, we've mostly stayed in Fox Glacier, but after a lull of over 10 years, we've returned to the South Island to do some more walks, and selected this motel to explore Franz Josef a bit more again.

First impressions on walking into our room were, it was clean, bright and modern, and tastefully decorated, making the place feel so light, airy, and open. Then, the provision of so much lighting was lovely, which in some motels are insufficient for adequate brightness .

Fantastically designed and equipped kitchen area. Crockery and cutlery top notch. Fantastic stainless steel cooking equipment and the best ever - a stainless steel kettle. Many establishments I am glad are slowly doing away with the horrid plastic kettles - thank goodness.

Simple thing like the raised luggage bench at the door was fantastic.

A lovely gesture is the espresso coffee maker with 4 pods. Double glazing on doors and windows and great heating system, ensures a warm stay with minimal heating.

We stayed two nights and arrived back from our hike to find our dishes put away, beds made and fresh towels :)

I had one concern with the left side of the king bed, but when I raised this with the owner on leaving, she was most grateful as she was unaware that maybe the springs had collapsed.

Would definitely recommend this establishment and stay again.

The Aspen Court is a motel with rooms that have been fully renovated -- everything inside the room is new. It is clean and comfortable. It is just a few blocks from the heart of Franz Josef, with lots of dining choices. I would happily stay at the Aspen Court again.

My husband and I travelled to NZ for our honeymoon. Aspen Court was one of the best accommodations we stayed at in our trip. The rooms are very well thought of, with the perfect amenities one could need for their stay. They had a separate makeup removal towel, which was definitely a plus in my book. They are right across the street from the Franz Josef Glacier Guides and an incredible hot tub place (Waiho Hot Tubs). The laundromat is also a 2 min walk and the grocery store is a 5 min walk. The staff were very thoughtful and friendly. We were going to arrive pretty late and when informed, they were sweet enough to keep the room ready for us with the heater on and the room keys on the table.

The motel is located off the thoroughfare of the small village, very quiet. Friendly welcome. Spacious, modern rooms with small kitchen. Everything very clean, still looks relatively new. .Super comfortable bed . We would book here again anytime.

The advantage of the Aspen Court motel is that it is just on the edge of town (not that it is any distance to town). Being on the end of the touristy part of town it is quiet and our room enjoyed bushland views. Surprisingly, despite all the rooms facing a central courtyard the room was quiet. The owners have done a good job in maintaining what appears to be a 1970's style motel to be contemporary and fresh.

Not the cheapest accommodation, but this was high (tourist) season. Overall, reasonable price value and a comfortable stay,

This is a very simple but clean lodging in Franz Joseph. Our room was large and there was a small kitchen which we did not use but certainly looked like it would be helpful for travelers wishing to. Bathroom was well appointed and generally this was exactly as others have reviewed, perfect for our short stay in this beautiful location. Only negative is that the WiFi was poor quality and cut out from time to time but since we did not report that to management I don't know if they would have been able to remedy it or not.

we had a one bedroom apartment (room 19) and there is plenty of room - two beds and separate rooms. The place had a small fridge, kettle, sink, kitchen area that is fully stocked. Pots and pans, and cooking utensils, knives, chopping board, induction cooker with a lovely bathroom and spa! beds are very comfortable with parking right outside. Short walk to Information Centre and Restaurants etc.
We would recommend Alice May Restaurant to eat - lovely food.
Guest laundry is excellent
Hosts are great and the communication with them excellent. We would stay here again if we travel to Franz Josef again.

If you are reading this you are trying to pick a hotel in Franz Josef. Stop reading and start booking. This is the one. On our NZ journey so far we have stayed at JW Marriott, Pullman, Rydges, Doubletree and Sofitel. This by far was the best room we have stayed in. You can tell this small property is lovingly cared for by its owners who are always on site. Not a desk clerk or manager. The owners manage it personally and do a wonderful job. The rooms are modern and spacious. You will not do better than this. So stop trying to decide and book it. You will be very pleased.

From memory Aspen Court does not have a motel in Tekapo, so not sure where you got that from. You will have to call the motel direct. Their number is 03 7520210

The only difference between the 2 units is the bedding configuration. One can sleep 4 people - 2 King beds, or 1 King and 2 Single Beds, and the other has 1 King and 3 Single Beds. None of our rooms have private patios. Regards Sue Aspen Court
