Double booked our room, turned up to guests in our room, offered to find alternative accommodation, told us it was more expensive and he would pay the difference- but we found out it was slightly cheaper. Motel right next door very accommodating highly recommend the Glenfern Villas.

Comprised of two separate cabins, they offer a compact lodge with all needed amenities, from a full kitchen, fully equipped toilet, separate bedroom for two, a fold out sofa bed, TV with Netflix, and WiFi! The hosts even had bug spray! Views are obviously spectacular

We stayed for 2 nights. Easy to find the place from Brad’s email. Thank you so much for the information. It’s very helpful! All the kitchen equipments were there, even salt&pepper + oil, so we didn’t need to buy. Less than 5 mins driving to a cafe, restaurants and 4 square. Clean room with nice bed was all we needed. The weather during our stay was heavy rain mostly, and we couldn’t see the stunning view I was looking forward. However, I could see the combination of clouds and mountains, and it’s beautiful. There were board games and smart TV to support experiences with bad weather. It’s the great place to relax.

Alpine Escape is perfect for a peaceful get away. The views are superb. The accommodation is ideal for couples, is spotlessly clean and conveniant for Franz Josef facilities. It has everything you would need for short stays. We would highly recommend.

Alpine Escape is perfectly located 5 minutes out of Franz Josef Glacier- handy to the township. Check-in was quick and easy with a lockbox outside. The unit was super clean, comfortable and well equipped. Highly recommended!!

Great for a roof over your head and a view. Clean and modern. No washing machine. Very small home. Has wifi. Netflix. Suited us for a one night stop. All accommodations in the area seemed to be expensive. No covered garage which would be handy considering the amount of rain here.

We stayed two nights and were very disappointed given previous reviews. The view was certainly stunning, but lots of functionality issues with the very small space. The bedroom is very small so nowhere to put suitcases (we left one in the car), the bed was big for the small room and had sharp corners resulting in bad bruises on both my legs at shin height from getting in and out of the room, a very small bedside shelf with not enough room to pop things, no extractor fan in the kitchen so every time we used the hob the entire living room steamed up and smelt of cooking smells, the fridge was very small, no table and chairs inside, an extremely small table and chairs outside that were very uncomfortable so there isn’t anywhere to relax, sit and enjoy the view. While the accommodation was superficially clean, my mobile slipped between the cushions on the sofa and it was absolutely disgusting - don’t think the cushions have ever been lifted off and cleaned. On the positive the view is stunning and the wifi is good, but we were very disappointed with the functionality of the small space. The cost of the accommodation is very expensive for the West Coast. We stayed in other places along the West Coast that were much better value, didn’t have issues and had great views.

This place is a real treat! A single unit separated into a generous bedroom area - double bed, a decent living room and kitchen and a small bathroom with shower This place has been cleverly worked out. Ergonomic with attention to detail. Lovely wooden decking built to make this place wheelchair/buggy accessible Parking for a car per unit of which there are two, staggered so you don't overlook one another. The view is to die for. You look towards town and the glacier so get to see the helicopters buzzing around like mosquitoes. All the front facing windows are folding doors so you could open up lots of the front face straight onto the decking. The kitchen is well appointed, double gas hob with all you need to cook. Knocking up spag bol from scratch was no problem. Shower is ample in size and water is hot. The bathroom is small but works very well with the small space Everything is new and well kept and almost impossible to find fault. Clearly very well thought out at the point of construction Personally, I'd say this place is for couples only. Not sure if I'd take kids. Consider it a bit of a couples retreat rather than a family place. Just my opinion. I'd be back in a heartbeat were it not 12,000 miles from home!!!!

Our daughter booked this for us for my birthday and what a great choice! We spent a great weekend in Franz Josef and really enjoyed our stay at Alpine Escape 1. You have to have good eyesight to spot the signboard 5 minutes out of town, but the units are instantly recognisable from the road if you have seen the photos online. Checking in could not be easier - with a lockbox at the entrance holding the door key. The unit was spotlessly clean and well appointed - comfy bed, crisp clean white linen and towels, really quiet heat pump, well equipped kitchenette and great hot water pressure on the shower! The units sit in an open paddock, offering great sunset views and early morning sun lighting up the snow capped peaks - see photo. You will feel that you are really getting away from it all, while being a quick 5 minute drive from the action in town. Highly recommended!
